This could have been so much better. The courts could have been Horses. Secretariat, American Pharaoh, (just won the grand Slam of Racing) Seabiscuit, War Admiral, Man O' War, Zenyatta, Seattle Slew, the list goes on. i for one and really bumbed

Truth be told, a designer and I are kicking around ideas for just such a deck. Now that there are 12 triple crown winners, we have a perfect set of courts.

I remain open to suggestions, if anybody has 'em -- the trick we're facing is how much can we use (images, names, colors, flowers and other symbols, etc.) without violating trademarks or other intellectual property of the relevant stakeholders....

Each Jockey and horse have a symbol or color scheme. Secretariat (Ron Turcotte) was Blue and White Checkered. Seabiscuit (red Pollard) was Red and White with a symbol in the middle. War admiral (Charles Kurtsinger) was black with a yellow stripe. seattle Slew was black with yellow strips on the sleeves, and so on. and then of course incorporating the tracks themselves. I am not a card designer by any means. But i for one would be stoked to see a deck like this. I believe only one horse had the same owner. Which would mean same colors and design. The Bed of Roses would look like wrapped around and Ace of Hearts IMO. Or Spades for the nice Contrast once again IMO.

Alex Nghiem and I have been working on Derby Playing Cards for a while now. Here's the current back design. Members of my family have owned race horses for the longest time and still do. So, there's a little flame in me to have this deck created.

Too bad the creator is too adamant on having all the bells and whistles and a goal that is way too high. She should be starting with MPC printing and a low goal if she really wants to fund and have stretch goals for the rest.

Finally the creator has seen the error of her ways and cancelled the project, took her long enough to realize it wasn't going to fund eh?

I'd like to see this recreated from scratch retaining the current back design. I thought this was a good theme for a deck.

I agree that theme is good but not the best choice in design.
