UC Printers/Fulfilment Watchdogs

Unread post by jsantafe »

I was reading the UC KS Watchdogs thread and wondered: the UC community is making an effort to follow up on KS campaign's creators to avoid scams. If anyone is thinking about pledging or not to a certain project, he might end up in that topic in this thread and make his decision.

But there isn't a place to talk about and watch the mistakes from producers, printers or fulfilment centres. It's only fair to register the actions from both sides. When LPCC screws with a deadline (when it's clearly not the deck creator's fault, of course), or USPCC registration sucks, or EPCC packs and sends something wrong, it also should be listed in one placed, not lost in many different threads, and forgotten.

Also, it's good to see how everything ends up, to even restore the trust in one of these companies if they act correctly and makes up for their errors.

What do you think? Is there room for such an observatory here?

Una buena idea! :D Some KS projects really have been hampered by delays on the side of the printers and fulfillment centers. Some creators have been (unfairly) placed in the receiving end of backers' ires - though in some cases, the lack of communication exacerbated things.

In this regard, I think kudos should also be given to printers and fulfillment centers who have delivered on time.

To be certain, there have been several screw-up, late (and severely late) projects delayed by production problems, but the biggest culprit is and always has been poor planning, not doing their homework and just plain mismanagement of post campaigns. Not certain that everyone agrees, but I think that a lot of it could be handled better by complete forthright communication instead of "radio silence" from the project.

Another thing that I personally have done is suggest everyone push their expected delivery date out at least a month if not two months, simply because using your best guess these days has left several deck(s) in a hurt from delays. I have said it before, but I will say it again "nobody cares if you are early".
