Thanks Sprouts. We have improved alot on our card stock as well. If you see the white Spirit Tuck has also been printed in house and looks brilliant.
For this project i was referring the creator to use our fulfillment services. This will help him save on cost and backers will receive all their goodies in original condition without any damage in transit.

Gamblers is a good company. They have helped people in the past. NOting, but good responses from them. They need a break out project to check their new card stock and White Sprit Tuck. Hmm.

Ok, so the art is good but, since the subject matter isn't my cup of tea I would normally refrain from commenting. However, there is one card that really bothers me. Please consider changing the Girl Scout Cookie one. I've never understood why guys think women dressing/acting as little girls is sexy. Baby dolls, school uniforms, etc... To me, it's creepy and uncomfortably close to child molestation. The worst virus I got on my computer happened several years ago when I did a google search (unaware that safe search was turned off) for Girl Scout cookie clipart which I needed for a troop newsletter. I accidentally clicked on the first response without reading the complete URL. The resultant pornography locked up my computer in an endless loop that was difficult to get rid of. It's an ongoing battle that the Girl Scouts take very seriously. I'm really not trying to be a prude here. I understand that nudie decks and pin up decks have been around a long time. I'm just asking that you reconsider the necessity of that card. None of your other models are being portrayed in a child's outfit or as part of an organization for young girls.

I fail to find the GSC card resemble "acting/dressing" like little girls... She's holding a beer, smoking a cigarette, and wearing a mini skirt... How's that a child's outfit?

Finding porn when looking up Girl Scout Cookie has nothing to do with this deck at all. This deck is about marijuana and sexy girls and GSC is a popular strain of cannabis that I would think is vital to the deck. The name came from the taste that resembles GSC, has nothing to do with little girls.

I personally don't think sexy female portraits would be considered porn, or else 90% of magazines would be under that category.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I don't see a problem with it at all, but (to quote Dennis Miller) that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. ;)

It's a child's outfit primarily because it's stated as such. We can get into a debate as to whether that card truly resembles a Girl's Scout outfit or not, but that would be missing Dragonsoul's main point: his opposition to the objectification of young girls. I don't think he was making the argument that any sexy female portraits were porn, either.

I get that particular people may have certain fetishes, and that's all good. But I have to agree with Dragonsoul in that I find a disturbing difference between someone getting a special turn on by a hot woman dressed in a skimpy nurses outfit versus someone getting a special turn on by a hot woman in a skimpy elementary school girl outfit. In most cases, it may be just an innocent fetish, but it also could be evidence of something much more dark and sick.

To be perfectly honest, if the Queen of Clubs didn't say Girl Scout on it, I may not have even associated the QoC dressed as a Girl Scout myself. But since it does say "Girl Scout Cookie" on the card the inference is obvious, and as such, I can understand if some people will find the objectification of a Girl Scout offensive. I don't know enough about marijuana to know whether the Girl Scout Cookie strain is an essential strain of pot or not, but I suspect there are dozens of specialized strains of marijuana out there. I have to believe that an artist as talented as this can easily select a different strain of marijuana and come up with another super sexy character to represent the Queen of Clubs without any negative associations to child porn.

I have no idea how QoC can be associated with child porn, that's just ridiculous...

Let's not beat around the bush here. Speaking as a guy, it's the candy that matters..not the wrapper (slimeball quote for all you casanovas out there). The woman can be dressed as a drunk Nick Nolte and we'd still make it work.

But there's no denying that it's sexualizing a role primarily held by prepubescent girls. It's like asking a woman to dress up as Dora the Explorer for role playing. How can you not see the creepy implications?

It's not Skyvora's fault that the strain was named as such. Perhaps a compromise can be reached?

The name is meant to describe the taste of the cookies...so how about having a girl in a skimpy apron holding a glass of milk and a plate of cookies?

Like this idea, but I personally still don't see an issue, again, that's just me.

Highly doubt he'll change the artwork since he's already selling other things (shirts, mugs, pillows) with those artwork. But again, I can be wrong.

Skyvora - They just don't get your theme. The names of the cards are names of pot. I'm still waiting for some Death Star. So you included a beer, smoke, and tattoo and mentioned the word "Girl Scout" If you put a boob in there you have a winner. Every deck of cards should have a boob... I'm also going to include a boob in my QoC. She is my femme fatale... One sided courts and ppl are talking about your cards. WoW! You may have something.

O.K. berets are no longer part of the uniform but, they once were. And, um... she's wearing a uniform vest complete with patches and a troop number. If that isn't obvious well, I don't know what else I can say.

I was just trying to illustrate that this is connected to a much bigger ongoing issue.

I apologize for not knowing that such a thing exists. Learn something new every day... However, who sells Girl Scout cookies? So yeah, it DOES have something to do with young girls.
4.of.Clubs wrote:I personally don't think sexy female portraits would be considered porn, or else 90% of magazines would be under that category.
I agree with you. I never said I had a problem with the rest of the deck.
Cbkimble wrote:It's 2015 where when one person is offended, we have to adjust our lives to suit them.
Yes, it’s 2015 where we exist in a world that is overly PC sensitive. So much so, that if one person dares to express an opinion (GASP) that is different from yours (Double GASP) you resort to knee-jerk reactions instead of opening a dialogue. After all, if no one ever expresses an opinion (especially one that might be contrary to popular belief), how do we learn from each other? How is understanding achieved? How is change implemented?

Look, I’m pretty much a “Live and let live” person. I normally try to be polite and constructive. I was well aware that saying anything negative about this would be frowned upon by many in such a male-dominated arena and probably make no difference in the end. However, I felt strongly enough about it that I wanted to express my concerns. I thought I did it in as rational a way as possible. All I wanted to do was ask you guys to look at this from another angle and see the bigger picture. How can it hurt to have someone point something out to you that you might never have considered before? Isn’t that what we do here when designers ask us how we like their decks? Thank you Sinjin and Eoghann for trying to help explain my point.

Good luck with the deck!
Peace

Come on, people, please? I get where DragonSoul is coming from, and of course she has the right to feel that way. The problem is that we're all gonna die of political correctness if we keep sliding down this slippery slope. It's gotta stop somewhere. You're never going to please everybody, not gonna change, and we've already done enough revisionist history here lately - for me, anyway.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It hadn't crossed my mind that the Girl Scout Cookies design might seem childlike. The artwork is definitely not intended to be viewed as such. It is by far one of the most popular strains and would need to be included. Due to the fact that each illustration takes a considerable amount of time and we are set to launch, I will keep the current design. I appreciate you all being open and stating your opinions.I really like the concepts for the new Girls Scout Cookies designs and will start seeing what I can come up with for future projects. Since most people are either school or work on Fridays it is best that we launch our kicstarter project tomorrow. We will be launching Saturday August 22 at 4:20pm Eastern Time.

Who said anything about them being elegant? Its a pimped out gangsta deck with exciting man stuff on the cards.

There is something very alluring about this deck, I'm not sure if I like the deck as a whole or if I have just become fixated on the voluptuous pretty ladies...

I do think you might have missed a gig in not doing a limited edition gold foil deck or made the decks more extravagant and audacious, but I like them.

Thanks for that man. I'm glad you're liking the deck. Pimped out gangsta was what I was going for. Alluring is probably the best word to use thanks for throwing that out there. I definitely want to do foils and extra features for the future editions of the playing cards.
