Hello from an old clown/magician/juggler

Hello. I'm new to this cardistry arena (and to collecting cards), so please forgive me in advance for the faux pas I may take. I performed occasionally as a clown, magician, juggler, balloon animal sculptor for about 25 years starting in the late 70s. Being a woman and an old fogey, I don't match most of the demographics of many of you, but hopefully my interest and enthusiasm will make up for my lack of knowledge!

I have always been interested in magic, but hadn't done much with it for several years until recently. I discovered the world of YouTube videos (obviously something we didn't have back in the early days) and got hooked on watching the different types of cards being used. That led to hours of watching XCM videos and ultimately buying some of the decks, DVDs on flourishes and manipulation, and surfing the Web for forums/like-minded souls.

And then I went crazy and bought even more decks. I'm using the excuse that I have a major milestone birthday coming up in about a week and deserve to treat myself, but even that rationalization can only go so far!! But now that I've discovered you guys and the PlayingCardDB, I think I'm in trouble.

So, I hope to learn a lot from you all, have some fun, and continue to see some of your amazing collections. And with lots of practice, I hope one day to be able to do some of the moves that fascinate me. Thanks.

Welcome Dleiber and please forgive my late reply. Don't worry about "fitting in". We don't have a demographic. We have members of every race, creed, sex and nationality you can think of. (Mostly) Our love of cards transcends boundaries like few things in life.
