Hey gang,
It's been awhile since I posted here. I received a few parcels over the last couple of weeks so here they are.....
First one and the most important parcel of them all, Heretic:

Paul's Encarded Standard Back decks:

Parcel from UC member Arthur aka Godzillian:

A few KS projects:

I really like the draconian coin:

and last one is from my recent eBay purchase. Someone was selling a box full of court cards from various decks.
There are apparently around 200 full sets of 12 court cards in here. Will be looking through them over the weekend and will post photos of any that will look interesting.

Dude. What the hell.
I refuse to believe all that Heretic is just for you.
That lot of court cards sounds extremely interesting.

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
Darn it, I've let a couple of ebay auctions for the Absolut deck slide by before bidding on them. I will get them one day! ...Feel like letting a couple go?
Wow, I know lots of people collected Aces and Jokers as swap cards. Never seen anyone offer up such a large collection of courts before. That should be fun to go through. Hopefully, you'll find something really cool!

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
It would be specially juicy if there's a decent amount of vintage cards in there and Slavich is into vintage decks. That's a completely different world! Just by the mind boggling variety of swap cards I see on eBay there's an immense amount of decks we've never even heard of. I've come across some really cool swap cards with interesting backs/jokers/courts that I really wish I could know what deck they belong to.DragonSoul wrote: That should be fun to go through. What? You never played card games with this many decks at once? You should try itEoghann wrote:Dude. What the hell.

JK... I really wanted double gran riserva decks and loved Lorenzo's work so went a bit overboard. Will definitely be letting go of some of them
That box of court cards definitely is interesting, from a quick glance there are a few cards in there with photos of various places but I can also see some vintages. The guy who sold them to me apparently decided to stop collecting these as he is now collecting only Ace of Spades from various decks. From what I understand he gets a deck, breaks it up and not sure what he does with the rest, trades them I guess. Can you imagine paying the money we all pay for decks to only keep one card from he whole pack? Anyone else here collects only single cards?
I will send him a message about these court cards, maybe if I'm lucky he kept a list of decks
Btw, the whole lot cost me £10

You'd be super lucky if he kept some sort of reference. The way it typically happens is through thrift stores and flea markets. That's the cheapest way. I've done that a few times and I keep a small box of it, particularly queens. Souvenir decks with otherwise unremarkable everything except court cards/aces or jokers.

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
Some more goodies:
A Hallmark deck: I hadn't seen this particular style of courts on their decks before. I have the Autumn Roses and the one Dragonsoul posted a while ago. And the lovely backs with what I assume is metallic ink? What's curious is how the blue deck has red edges and the red deck has blue edges. Pretty interesting.
And the next deck is a real doozy apparently.
According to the seller: this is a prototype deck designed for the Space Quest Casino in Star Trek: The Experience, which ran from 1998 to 2008. They never got around to printing them commercially and the place got shut down. My best guess is late 90s early 2000s judging by the cheesy, Sci Fi artwork alone.
But any additional information or confirmation that these in fact weren't available at the casino gift shop will be tremendously appreciated. Even if they're a dime a dozen, I'd still like to know. Bug the PCF guys if you need to.
The guy said he bought them at an estate sale from a guy who used to work for Paul-Son or something.
He offered the rest of his stash outside of eBay so I went ahead and bought it. So if anyone is interested, I'm willing to offer one as bounty if they're as rare as they say they are to whomever gets me some good information on them (and no, Wikipedia doesn't count, that's been tried already.
) I will most likely trade the rest off in the future.

Finally!!
It took me a long time to track down this deck, and in the end.. I had to settle for an opened one.

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
Eoghann,
I have one or two Hallmark decks with those courts - they were pretty easy to find in antique stores/malls in SoCal in the late 1990s.
I HIGHLY doubt that the SciFi deck was from ANYTHING related to Star Trek. For one thing, none of the characters on the courts are recognizable as any of the characters from any of the shows, nor even as any of the races of aliens from any of the shows. Also, I visited the Vegas Star Trek Experience in 2007, and found no decks with custom courts (and believe me, I looked!)

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
I know the Space Quest casino used custom chips separate from those used in the other portions of the Hilton, I still have one from my 21st bday trip through Vegas, so I suppose it's possible they used different cards as well. But to be honest I have no idea if they actually did or not. But since there's very little info on the cards, I'd lean more to the belief that they weren't widely used camp. Not to mention, those diamond and heart courts are freaking ugly.
I do know for certain that the Space Quest casino section was just an absolutely sad place to be after the Star Trek experience left. And I still miss those Warp Core Breach drinks from Quark's.

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
Thanks for the info guys! Based on your testimonies, it seems to confirm that the decks were some kind of prototype design that got rejected or never saw itself mass produced due to the decline in popularity of the space quest casino after ST:TE left. Definitely not Star Trek themed, but some generic sci Fi deck Space Quest could offer in their gift shop.
And I agree chach, the courts aren't the prettiest out there. But I've seen worse and I'm a sucker for space and sci fi stuff.

Yes. Mine were in my mailbox today, but probably would have been here on the 4th as well if there hadn't been the winter storm. The tuck and cards came out very nicely, and the cards have an unusually good feel to them.Bikefanatic wrote:Anyone else get their Sishou deck(s)? Mines came yesterday (March 4th).

This was my birthday present from my boyfriend.
The First Edition Glass Top Display Case from Deck Finesse. It's such a beautiful case and the packaging for it was super duper nice, too.

I forgot about those Red Grid 2.0 decks. I know they were offered during Ultimate Universe campaign but some of us pre-ordered them months ago.

My Goat Deco deck arrived.
Including the customs sticker to go with it.
I really like the green color used, and the metallic inks really show. The tuck box is also very nice.
