These would've flown just 4 years ago. These strike me as a deck that would've fit in well with the same decks in the peacock series.

You can give them as Christmas gifts to people so they can hide them under the bed where no-one can see them and only bring them out to use when you come to visit.

Will the Cosby Sweater be a limited edition deck?

Anyways................. I might go for a blue deck since the hearts and diamonds are blue.

What a fun deck. I find I'm liking the card backs quite a bit. The courts, they're fun but I think if the sweater pattern was shrunk down to fit them it would be more charming. That's just me though.

That is quite the ambitious funding goal and I agree, it would be nice to see a second deck as a stretch goal or a later campaign. That's not the case though, so good vibes to these! I really hope these fund. The playing card world can absolutely use courts wearing sweaters haha.

I really like the Jokers!
TL:DR It's completely up to you.
We can still be friends.
I actually like playing cards.

Hi guys! My name is Eric Twiddy and I am the creator of this deck series. Thanks for looking into the project and posting your thoughts here! I totally agree with volantangel. If these get funded, I would love to do more ridiculous touchy-feely projects! I like the ugly Christmas sweater idea. I imagine the ugly sweater with flashing Christmas lights on the box! lol

vasta41 mentioned the price point. Yeah, I struggled with this, but I really wanted the interior printing and this is what makes these cards expensive. I've been working with Tiffany Mahan (Business Development Manager at the United States Playing Card Company). She has been great, but there is no budging on the prices, especially with the limited number of cards being printed.

Fes mentioned there should be a second deck as a stretch goals. For some reason I'm not a fan of stretch goals. I'm an all or nothing kind of guy! But I do have more decks lined up in the series here is a sneak peak:

Thanks! I'm most excited about the magic features that this deck will offer. I'm not a magician but I enjoy magic as a hobby. Here is an elaborate run down of a trick that I have in mind with these cards:

It’s designed to be performed with ease and only requires moderate skill (Hindu shuffle, color change, double lifts, etc.) Also this particular routine will require 2 Red Argyle Decks and 1 Blue Argyle Companion Deck:

Warning: This written routine requires full concentration to read and understand because I bounce back and fourth between the decks with color changes, etc.

Trick #1: The magician introduces both decks, the Red Argyle Design and the Blue Argyle Design. The magician asks the spectator, “Which color do you prefer?” Based on their choice (let’s say the red deck was chosen) the magician says, “Excellent choice, this will be for you to examine in a moment”. The Red deck is set aside in plain sight. Proceeding with the blue deck, the magician pulls the cards out of the tuck case. The magician shuffles through the deck and recalls the fact that the spectator preferred the Red deck. So, with a flick of the magician’s dominant hand over the deck in his/her opposite hand, the entire deck flashes before their eyes and the deck is spread to show all the cards now having the Red Argyle pattern! The magician sets down the deck and pulls the cards out of the red box to reveal that all the cards in the red box has switched to blue.
Trick#2: Now, the magician returns to the first deck (blue switched to red) once again and the spectator is asked to indicate when the magician shall stop while thumbing through the cards. Where the spectator instructs to stop, the magician lifts the deck at this location and the spectator is asked to take their chosen card. The card is memorized by the spectator and placed back into the deck. The deck is squared. Now the magician motions his/her dominant hand over the deck, concentrating and stating the ability to transfer the spectator’s card over to the other deck. Once the energy is exerted the spectator is asked to spread the blue cards to reveal one stray red card, which happens to be the spectator’s selected card, the (unaltered) King of Spades!
Trick#3: The spectator is asked to return the King of Spades anywhere in the blue deck. The deck is squared. Now the magician demonstrates the ability to relocate the card with a series of impressive cuts (cardistry experts can show off some moves here) the magician finds the unaltered King of Spades with ease!
Trick#4: The magician now places the unaltered King of spades face down on the table and cuts the deck again in order to find and reveal the sweater card. The sweater card is then waved in the air over the king of spades and is then turned over to reveal that the sweater has disappeared (it is now a blank card). So where did the sweater go? The magician asks the spectator to turn over the King of Spades who is now wearing the missing sweater!

Goal is still way too high. Are you sure interior printing costs that much?

I like me but only to the extent that I'd pay $3.99 for them at Walmart, definitely not $13 on KS. Sorry bro, but good luck with the campaign.

I don't know about USPCC but interior printing with EPCC and LPCC is not a massive addition to cost... 10c a deck maybe?

I'm not certain, but I think even just adding Interior printing with USPCC means they charge more for using their third-party printer. Last I knew, the only Tuck Boxes they print in-house are designs that do not have any special features (Embossing, Foil, Interior Printing). Adding any one of these special features means going third-party, thus increasing the Tuck Box pricing by quite a bit.

Thanks, Randy

@Eric_Twiddy - Welcome to the forums. Whatever Randy says is probably true. In my experience, I tried to get a tuck box to hold 64 cards from the USPCC. They said they could make one and in the end their China 3rd party vender could not make one. For 2 months, I was excited and had to scramble to find other. As for your deck, you have not broken any rules, but coming out with 2 decks is bold. If you don't make your goal, do one deck next time. :( :( :(

Thinner borders would be nice but you'd have to modify those diamonds on the back.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I was quoted $2.92 (2,500 minimum order) for a Bicycle Branded Deck complete with cellophane and black seal. Inside tuck printing was $1.64 extra! They did say this would come from the outside vendor. They provided me a matrix spread sheet with the different types of stock, foil, and embossing options. I simply wanted the double sided printing on the standard cards stock (12pt C1S). The attached file is the matrix they provided me:

Hey Russell,

The numbers refer to the number of Inks used. 4 usually refers to 4-Color Process (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black). The 1 refers to any Pantone Ink.

Thanks, Randy

That's correct. My quote comes from the first sheet (12 pt C1S stock) under 4/4 print (CMYK front and CMYK back) for 2,500 decks.

Hmmm Interesting.

My first deck, my initial step of finding a budget was to contact USPCC first to obtain quotes then EPCC and LPCC for comparison after.

It took me a month or two and multiple emails, then complaints of no response to even get them back in touch, and give me a very rough price guide. By then I was over it. My preference was to go EPCC or LPCC anyway but initially I thought it might be better to use USPCC as it was more familiar to most people, even with the extra cost. But I have no time at all, for any business that cant be bothered to get back to potential new customers.

So in that, I had no idea USPCC charged so much extra for special features, and I would never have used them for that anyway. Because of this I would seriously consider cancelling this project to switch over to one of the other two, if only to save budget unnecessarily spent.

Back on topic though. Sometimes the gimmick thing is cool. But, and again only a personal thing, don't get upset or think its not a good idea here, I can understand why a lot of people love it. I find some gimmicks like this a little tacky and just something clever to sell a sup par product. Which in this case I don't actually think its a sub par product. Jokes aside I actually think the deck design is pretty cool, and it makes me smile.

Another thing I have been thinking is it would be a cool effect to do a colour change, either a single card, or a full deck colour change and couple it with another trick like "DRESSCODE by Calen Morelli".

Wear one sweater at the start, do routine, change decks, punters look up, and your sweater has changed as well.

Would blow peoples mind!

It's funny you mention the dress code magic trick by Calen. I was just talking to my son about an hour ago about these cards and how it be funny if you did it with dress code, and then I read your post right now.
