I love the tuck and back. I'm not sure what others think but the king cake would look better if it was a bit smaller IMO.

I'm not a big fan of side-opening tucks but, I have to admit that looks pretty sweet. I agree that the King cake might be better if it was just a tad smaller but, once you add color it could be fine as is. Love the back and how the courts are coming together!

Just for kicks, would you mind inverting the colors on the hair? I feel the yellow stands out too much. Gold hair with yellow outline or maybe a more subdued shade of yellow so it doesn't pop as much?

After conferring with Bill at EPCC I decided to change the tuck to a gold texture material with a gold foil design. Unfortunately the original gold foil box hasn't been tested with printing yet so we felt that this option was a safe bet. I really like the way the yellow pops on the courts. Mardi Gras is a very vibrant celebration and I feel that the contrast in colors reflects this.
TuckFinal2sm.jpg
However, if you really want me to I'll swap the colors when I get a chance. I'm coloring all of the elemental magick courts at the moment. Finally got them all inked!

@daveEdgerly - I think you're production ready. Let's see some more courts. I like the way your King pops out pass the border on the right and left Your Queen could pop out bit more also. Use all of the card.

Weird. Either way, backing was a little quicker. And I love these! Can't wait for them to come in. (p.s. 1,000th post :ugdance: :ugdance: on UC.com anyway...)

@daveEdgerly - You need to show some more cards. I like the way you show the the Spade as a dark purple and the Club as green. It is usually the other way around in the history of cards. The Spade and Club are black and the other suits are different colors.

@sprouts - I felt like I had enough cards to launch and knowing that some other reputable designers are launching decks soon I needed to get going. I plan on doing card reveals throughout the campaign. I appreciate all of your input during the creative process and will continue to appreciate any and all advice you can give:)

I think its enough to give people a good feel of the project, just remember to update the main page as you reveal more.

Do you think its possible to push to indices of the face cards further out towards the edge ? It might look better =)

Love how this deck has shaped up, it's really quite beautiful. Also love how I was still able to get early bird pricing. :D

And I must say, I do like the new payment system too. Very quick and easy.

Looks like Dave has moved the indices out a touch and is going to go with two colors for the suits. I think these are nice changes.

I think so as well. Is it me or is the purple in the pips darker/duller than the back? Forgive my design ignorance. I like the more vibrant purple on the back.

@nECrOMaNCeD - Don't despair I see your point well, but he is trying to stay close to black as possible. I see that people can play solitaire now. He went safe and took out the green.

The darker purple he is going for is above the crown and in those little corner badges. That is also pretty safe. Remember lets stay close to black as possible and we can make any color the Hearts/Diamonds. We are playing is safe by having two COlor suits. :D

Ahhhh, I see now. Makes sense. I just really liked the purple on the backs. I defer to Dave's superior knowledge of art and cards. Thanks for pointing that out.

Glad you guys like the changes. It's the same dark purple on front and back, it just rendered lighter with the lighting in 3D. As I was thinking of ways to keep the momentum going with the campaign I started experimenting with a second deck design and came up with this as a potential stretch goal.
PaNArt3.jpg
The back and fronts will feature gold metallic inks as well. I've already communicated with the EPCC and I could probably make this deck happen at a stretch goal of $12,500.00. That seems pretty far off at the moment, but maybe this deck will get the ball rolling. Looking forward to y'alls input.

Same here I'm afraid. Not feeling all that purple.

Maybe add some lighter accents. I'd say keep the face and eyes on the back design white. And perhaps keep the background inside the rectangle purple and the edges white. Here's a crappy mockup.

I like it both ways (yes, I'm still talking about the cards), and remember that a reasonable amount of people often prefer having the back and faces have the same color on the edges. But don't you dare put white borders on that back ;)

Have to agree. Keep the Back and front border color the same. Purple or White. Glad to see your trying to put the green back in...

Forget all these jokers before me!

Bro... do the pupurple. I LOVE colored faces. As long as they match the back. And I don't have a purple deck.

I am also among those who enjoy a decent deck of color. The purple decks you guys did for the Dia de las Muertos decks were excellent, and the red Requiem deck is absolutely top notch. Acknowledging that some folks just don't like 'em, some others of us do. Just sayin'.

You guys are right, colored decks aren't for everybody, but I do feel that this design is pretty cool and I'm going to leave it as is. If and when I get funded I will let the backers decide if they would like it as a stretch goal.
