Same, he's on a hell of a roll. I just got my patreon package last week and holy shit. Hes become my favorite card designer.

I'd love to see a photo of your tarot collection! What themes/aesthetics do you normally go for?

I'm genuinely contemplating this project as $95 is a hefty sum for me rn as much as I love the art. If we are to get a special variant for Patreon, then I'm less likely to pledge.

Yes, tarot require two sheets of paper for printing. Each sheet can only fit about 40 cards, so the cost is at least double that of standard playing cards.Leachy19 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 1:11 pmkevork wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 12:16 pm Why do tarot decks cost so much? Well I guess you get 26 extra cards in a tarot and they are significantly larger than standard cards so I can kind of understand why they are 2x as much.

They're not all expensive. I have this set I got from Amazon, and it's gorgeous. Comes in a nice box with a booklet as well.kevork wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 12:16 pm Why do tarot decks cost so much? There are some really good ones though! My projects explore the overlap between Tarot/Playing cards (live on Kickstarter - shameless self plug). Also have one I’m finishing up for a May-ish release. But lots of great work in this space, some of my favorites are…KGthePrince wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 11:53 am I backed for one of each for this project. I'm so happy there's a tarot deck in this one. I have about 50 tarot/oracle decks and wish more playing card designers dipped their toes into that medium.

Like playing cards, the quality of the stock, and tuck material really varies. If we ever get a SoCal meet up, I'll bring some of my favorite tarot decks as a show and tell.kevork wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 12:16 pm Why do tarot decks cost so much? I don't stick to one theme or aesthetic, it's mainly what appeals to me in terms of art. I could go into my "rules" but I don't want to bore the others.Feel free to PM me if you want more details.
