The Deck is a collaborative community project where designers each show off their skills by designing the front of a playing card. The 52 card deck celebrates the uniqueness and diversity of Wichita's Design Community. Participants joined us back in January at Harvester Arts where we all played a game to determine who is designing which card. With their suit selected, everyone stuck around to socialize with fellow designers and started off a brainstroming sesh to gain inspiration.
Here you can see every single card in this deck

You can buy one from here for 15 USD.

A pretty cool looking art deck, a lot of decks have been made by different people using the same concept of several designers each designing one card but I do like this one more than some of the other ones I have seen.

I dream of a world where wars are fought only by having dance offs. I also dream that a Finnish playing card designer would exist. The former seems more likely to happend.

Actually looks more unique than the Playing Art series!
The faces if compare to the Playing Art series has more freedom like simple tinkering with pips to full-bleed art. The PA series tend to lock the artists' designs into one unified frame with the same blank background.

Back design is kind of a letdown compared to the faces.
You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.

This is great, to be honest I didn't know art decks was a thing. I have a pair of ultimate decks but I thought it was a one of a kind idea. Love a lot of the designs on these but yea I wish the back was up to the same level, it's pretty much just OK.

Out of stock. That said, back design is one way and disappointing. Shame as I do like the art.

After some research it looks like this site also sells them and has 30 left in stock: https://shop.theworkroomict.com/the-deck.html. Hoping someone who is still interested in this deck can help me get my hands on one as they only seem to be shipping in the US.

I received my decks today. I really love the cards, I think they look great! However, I am disappointed in that the cards are sealed but the decks are not and all my tuck boxes are in what I consider to be poor shape. If they were sealed, I think they would not be so worn. BTW, I ordered them from the Workroom. I am curious if those that ordered from Vortex Solitaire, will receive decks with worn tucks.

Yeah, got mine today as well and the tuck box had torn tabs and really roughed up. Cards were sealed in cellophane inside the tuck box. Mine were from the workroom. Bad enough shape that i'll be asking for a refund.

Yikes a price tag stuck to the tuck??

I ordered from the Workroom and was worried after seeing these comments! But my mail carrier showed mercy and my decks were fine :) It could have been a lot worse, they just put the two unsealed tucks into a padded envelope

Honestly I’d be happy even if the tuck were shredded, the cards are awesome :D :D

It was also asked if people could provide some of their favorite card backs so maybe they can get some ideas to improve it in the future

That's some very interesting news. Thanks for going an extra mile Entaro.
Card back recomamdations are hard though without knowing the faces. E.g. the Oath Standard back design is hands down one of my favorite all time, but it wouldn't fit an art deck like this the slightest.
Stranger & Stranger did a very nice job on their Ultimate deck with the back design.

After buying the deck and looking through it more in person, there are definitely some cards that are much more interesting than the others. My top 5 favorite cards are

Q Clubs
10 Diamonds (probably my single favorite)
3 Hearts
2 Spades
6 Spades (2nd fav)

Yes, I see they are in stock again - perhaps they are trying to keep anyone from grabbing up a bunch of them and have no way to limit it in the store otherwise…

11 in stock at the moment - so I guess they are putting up a brick at a time

Hi there!

Hope this little note finds you all well! My name is Josh, I'm the current AIGA President of the Wichita Chapter. I'll be sure to make an introduction post but wanted to happily share our new deck with you all on this thread, too!
TheDeckGlassWallSocials.png

We've made a new Deck at the end of last year with 50+ artists and designers contributing artwork to each of the cards! I'll attach a few promo shots we made to share it. There are more images of the deck on our sales website here: https://www.thedeckbyaigawichita.com/ We have a limited print run that includes metallic ink on fine linen paper for our 2nd press edition that's still available.
testertop2.png
TheDeckCardGridSocials.png
We are, of course, using this to help raise funds for our small organization as well as get all our awesome artists and designers names out there! Many of them shared their work on their socials, which we linked on this page of the site: https://www.thedeckbyaigawichita.com/artists

Anyway, I'm off to pick up my kiddo, but I'll be back later to make the introduction post. I do hope it's ok for me to post here; if a new formal post would be best, I'm happy to do that, too! Thanks all, I hope you have a fun-card-full day!
