Bicycle Reverie Playing Cards

Unread post by gacktvam »

New Bicycle Deck from Barry, the designer of Sky Descender playing cards, Samsara playing cards, Nebula playing cards and Kasa playing cards.
There will be two version, Marked & Unmarked Back, the pips and courts will be just the same. The Unmarked version will have a Chinese style fan back.

Lol another marked deck that isn't readable further than a foot away from your face.

I like the unmarked way more than the marked. I really like the courts and the greenish tint in the background.

I really like the Aces and the back design. Not a fan of the courts.

An unfortunate update from the creator today:
Hello guys!

I know it's May now and the Reverie decks are still not ready to ship. Two weeks ago when I asked for news USPCC told me the decks should be ready in the next week, so I posted an update saying the decks would be ready soon. Then last week they told me the decks should be ready on this Monday or Tuesday. And today I received an email from USPCC, quote:

"Our quality team found a machinery mark on the backs of some of the decks.  All decks need to be opened and checked to remove any bad decks from your order.  This is taking quite a bit of time as they are working not to damage the seals.  It should be done by early next week."

This is very unfortunate. Hopefully they can fix the issue, and make the decks ready at the time they stated, not like the last two times.

I sincerely apologize for the delay. As the creator I eagerly hope to handle the decks in my own hands, just like you who love the design and backed this project. But now it seems like the only thing I can do is wait.

Thank you so much for the support. 好事多磨 (good results often come with long wait).  I will post an update as soon as USPCC truly makes the decks ready to ship. And I apologize again for the unexpected delay.

Best regards,
Barry
I have... several questions.

1. What is USPCC's QA process that this issue wasn't found until the decks were tucked and sealed?
2. What method are they using to open and examine these decks in such a way that tucks and seals are still suitable for fulfillment to customers?
3. Are they going to give Barry the opportunity to examine and approve (or reject) these opened and re-closed tucks? (I hesitate to call them "resealed" because, again, it appears they will not be applying new seals after opening.)
4. Does USPCC just straight-up have the worst customer service in the custom deck market, or is this normal behavior from other printers also?

For 1. None, I guess
For 4. Yes

Unfortunately, as of recently, USPCC seems to be regularly dropping the ball and it is various things, from delays in production to registration issues to the basic quality control. It appears to me that they are biting more than they can chew.

Seems like it. I never had huge problem in the past with USPCC decks, but a lot of 2018 releases did suck pretty hard when it comes to registration. I have Entry02 that became one-way designs because of the borders being so off.

Well, Ramsay’s 1st V2 deck is basically one-way because of this. At least decks I’ve seen so far. :/

Yup, saw on reddit some pictures about that. It really seems that they run the press on max speed or the cutter.

Which is a shame, because this deck in the post looks great.

Apparently, the issue was fixed. I got my pair of Reveries today and I'm really satisfied with the outcome.

For those who want to get the deck, GW's online store has it for sale at a decent price of $18.50 with free shipping. Used code gw2019 to get 10% off.

However, they have 2 versions listed on the site. Both say it's the limited ed marked version, but 1 is at 18.50, the other at 18.75 Very odd. The 18.75 version only has 5 left.

Will also has the LE Marked deck for sale for 19.99 on PCD.

Please be cautious of GW's website. They are horrible at updating stock, so you can place an order and they'll charge you without telling you an item is out of stock. Then you have to deal with the whole refund process. YMMV.
