Email newsletter wrote:"MYSTERY III" was a generic name, used to describe the deck, as I didn't want to reveal the theme or the name.

it's not the actual name of the deck. The actual name of MYSTERY III is "RUBAIYAT"

Though it's a test deck, not too impressed by Rubaiyat. It's shiny but dark just like how Mystery Crafts and Qualif was, makes gameplay not that fun.

If the spades & clubs pips remain silver with gold borders and the hearts & diamond pips stay gold with the silver border, they'll look great.

both my "rejected" and the rubayiat deck came today, not sure how you could not love these. Yea there is some damage showing on the rejected decks for sure.

could the courts on Rubayiat be brighter? yeah but its not nearly as dark as the original mystery.

I just received my Oath Patrons "rejected" decks. The red version is nearly indistinguishable to me from the White Patrons deck I have, except for the face side background being slightly different. GIven the strong similarity, I guess I prefer the green version over the red to provide a bit better difference from the earlier white patron deck. Still, a very nice deck. The foil flaking was not very noticeable and not a distraction for me on the one I viewed. My latest Lotrek decks filling up my office drawers is getting out of hand. I just can't stuff them in my hidey holes much more...a good problem to have to be honest.

So Kev this series will eventually have 6 decks right? Mystery III: Craft edition, Qalif, Rubaiyat: Test Edition, Rubaiyat, Rubaiyat: Player's Edition, and Patreon reward for Year 3?

This is a complex answer to a complex question:

Mystery III Craft Edition could technically be considered, unofficially, as Qalif’s test edition. When Lotrek created this deck, he wasn’t satisfied with the result and made changes that eventually led to the release we now know as Qalif. However, Lotrek decided that Qalif would not be Mystery III and went back to the drawing board. In his ongoing pursuit to realize his original vision, he created new court cards and developed the Rubaiyat (Mystery III) Test Edition as a way to efficiently explore multiple techniques and determine which combinations would lead to the final version of Mystery III.

So, in essence, yes, Qalif was a necessary part of that journey, but over time it became its own standalone deck.

There’s room for debate on whether these decks belong to the same series. Personally, I’d consider Mystery III Craft and Qalif as separate, while Rubaiyat Test, Rubaiyat Players, and Rubaiyat form their own distinct series.

As for whether the Mystery III Special Edition Year 3 reward will turn out to be a variant of Qalif or Rubaiyat, only Lotrek can say. At this point, I suspect we’ll see a variation of Rubaiyat, unless he’s saving that for the still-undisclosed Year 4 rewards. Time will tell!

Someday when all the decks are released it’d be fun to see some side by side comparisons of the same cards from all the decks.

Rubaiyat Players Deluxe edition. An amazing exclusive surprise tuck box for those who will preorder! Stay tuned...
Judging from this post, I assume there are two versions of Players Edition of Rubaiyat. Deluxe being one with the "exclusive tuck box" - the hype is real for this one

Rumor has it the tuck box unfolds to form a diorama depicting all of human history, including several hundred years into the future.

Fully unfurled it spans 12 feet across and boasts nearly as many levels in its many pop up structures - or so they say.

But that isn’t the impressive part of it - nor are the nearly 200 layers of foil application - the best bit is still secret…

In the end, I’m in to see what its all about and figure I will be pleased - hopefully rumor is false as I don’t have the space for all that.

I'm not falling for the tuck hype just yet, but I am really curious what he is referring to when he says "an amazing exclusive tuck box, with a feature that has never been done before."

These posts do spoil Mystery III at this point, but that ship hath already sailed.

Based on Lotrek's comments on Instagram, he is stating Codex is launching in October. He states this is for real this time, but we will wait and see.

He also removed items from his store page since he's currently on vacation through August while printers are closed, and he is unable to fulfill orders during that time. I recall people asking about that earlier in this thread.

I'm surprised to see the Rubáiyát Deluxe players edition be 45€ each. Perhaps that factors in the added labor costs of a handmade tuck. I ended up only buying one of each color, although Lotrek mentioned the tuck will be the same. With that in mind, I imagine we'll be able to see the back of the cards through a die cut of some sort? Or he'll be doing some sort of origami tuck.

Sad to see the Patreon numbers no longer being applicable, but understandable that this was quite a nuisance for Lotrek.

Four seemed to be the right number for me, after seeking guidance from the neighbors dog and reading some tea leaves - they both said something about “auspicious” (or was it suspicious?)… anyway - whats done is done.

And two different colors X.X

Heck man…. It'd better worth the price and waiting time. Tuck box may have same construct, but the colors will match no doubt.

There are 600 Blue and 600 Red. For each color, the ratio between Deluxe and Standard will be determined on how many Deluxe was ordered before PO closes on Lotrek's BDAY

I like the Platers editions, but I don’t €45 like them. I will admit that I have FOMO regarding the special tuck, but I can’t decide if I really want to spend the money on it. I’m not normally swayed by a tuck. I think I will pass, but I am worried I will regret it. Damn you Lotrek! :D In this case I want to see what I’d be paying for.
