Like others here, I received a tracking number on the 26th. Much to my pleasant surprise, the first update I received was just a couple hours ago; my package is anticipated to be delivered tomorrow (August 2nd). May the rest of y'all receive similarly good news soon!

Re: Stockholm17 Anthology by Lorenzo Gaggiotti
I received my soft cover anthology... Fast delivery and very well packaged... and for the book... Ho la la ! This is an impressive information document on his works for 10 years.
Lorenzo was very generous with information... it is almost an encyclopedia on the whole process of creation and preparation for production... A magnificent gift for collectors and creators of playing cards...
He did a colossal job in preparing this anthology. Thank you Lorenzo for your art, you will, just like Lotrek and Jackson Robinson, one of the worthy creators of playing cards that have marked our time.

Re: Stockholm17 Anthology by Lorenzo Gaggiotti
When the book is out for grabs, I quickly grab it without hesitation. At first, i thought the book is going to be small, like a size of a Bible. When it arrived, I was shocked at its size - the book is like an encyclopedia! Browsing through it, and WOW! I definitely lost into the world of Stockholm17 everytime I leaped through the pages. I try to contain my envy while browsing through sections where is shows decks that I don’t have (like: Heretic and Gemini).
Everything in the book is just AWESOME! It is something that you should have in your small library! The book is still okay for non-card people, such as… those who like artbooks

Re: Stockholm17 Anthology by Lorenzo Gaggiotti
Everybody keeps tempting me with this one and being a book collector too, it is amazing that I have resisted.
Postage is peeing me off. It is $33us to get the book to me (that is $50au) - if I could combine postage, I might wear it but if I add a deck the postage goes up to $55us

The postage is worth it. The book is HEAVY, even the paperback!

To me, Lorenzo is like Leonardo Da Vinci reincarnated. He is not only an illustrator, but a designer, inventor and engineer. I will buy every single item this guy produces!

Hey harvs, I just asked about your suggestion of a hardcover version of the standard paperback edn and Lorenzo replied immediately but the answer was negative

Yah, more of me wishful thinking here than a realistic thing to happen. Thanks for your post though, you’ve inceptioned the thought of it wouldn’t be too hard to make one for myself though, huehuehue. I don’t have access to a hotfoil stamp though… I still have to put that on my flip chart.

Re: Stockholm17 Anthology by Lorenzo Gaggiotti
I checked before ordering my pb - it turns out that shipping price is actually good (see below) and I decided to relent what with so many people, whose opinions I value, telling me that it was a must have book.
I ruled myself out of Henry's auction of the hc yesterday as he warned me that the shipping to Oz would be bad news
ps I think there are 330 pbs left

Re: Stockholm17 Anthology by Lorenzo Gaggiotti
Thanks to everyone who convinced me to get this book - it looks superb, no doubt the strength of a hardcover would be magnificent.
It only took 6 days to get to Oz and only 9 days to get to my slightly remote town (and that included 2 weekends)
I panicked a couple of days ago when FedEx were telling me it had been delivered - note to oneself: Do not believe FedEx, especially if they email that they have left it near your door when you have only supplied a PO Box number! The fact that I had received a different parcel from Gamblers Warehouse on that day, had me thinking there had been a mix up. I now believe FedEx calls arriving in the country as being delivered
Lorenzo is fantastic at communication

So glad you got one. I honestly believe that not only is it required reading for every collector out there, I desperately wish that every single designer out there would also read it! If they did even 50% of the thought process that Lorenzo goes through, we would have a hobby that's in a very healthy state!

Re: Stockholm17 Anthology by Lorenzo Gaggiotti
Somebody appeared to get a bargain on a hardcover today
Auction on SoCal only got to $125us.
The last one they auctioned a month ago went for $255
Even at $125, I could not get involved for the weight of the book makes it a killer for shipping for internationals

On ebay recently one went for 160ish and two failed to sell at that price, several others selling higher, current listing much higher - quite the free for all

Re: Stockholm17 Anthology by Lorenzo Gaggiotti
To me it is a tabletop book and this afternoon I finally found the time and made the space to make a start (it is precious and must be protected
)
I have begun with the Ravn chapter as I have all them and immediately I am in raptures.
It is so readable!
I love seeing the progression from the original draft. It is interesting to note that the pair of raven (Huginn and Muginn) were there in the 4 corners from the very first of at least 12 drafts
We even have a spot the difference between the Lorenzo improved QoS and a Bicycle QoS. His improvements although subtle are certainly significant. If you don't have the book, you can see them (along with some drafts etc) on Lorenzo's website or the actual kickstarter campaign page
https://www.stockholm17.com/blogs/ravn/ravn-2016
The page arrow at the bottom of the above page takes you to the later Ravn edns
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ra ... ying-cards
One small query I have, is as to whether pages 142-3 should be in the Purple Haze chapter or the V1 chapter before
It does serve some purpose, them being where they are as it makes it easier to compare the pics for V1 and V2 (Purple) as they are on consecutive pages
Ravn IIII saw some interesting options for the card back but you can see that the final selected is the most cohesive
The enlarged AoS in the book allowed me to see the details that a magnifying glass can also reveal
In the past I had not appreciated that the embossed ravens in the branches on the RavnX tuck are also there on the standard red and blue tuck if you look carefully. I am clearly not as observant as I think as I had also missed the fact that the V3 Eclipse has an embossed dodecahedron beneath the raven skull and feathers on the tuck
Live long and prosper

Re: Stockholm17 Anthology by Lorenzo Gaggiotti
Are you talking about a hardcover hsbc? They go for heaps
I am a book collector (one career was as a librarian) and love my hardcovers but I have to say that the pb of this book is as good as pbs get
It is a hefty book and I place it on a bean bag holder (no frills one) and use a large bookmark weight to hold it open at the page I am viewing (in order to not be touching the pages all the time)
It is worth the $79 pb.
It is also part of several bundles if you are in need of a deck or two

Re: Stockholm17 Anthology by Lorenzo Gaggiotti
I am pretty frivolous with money and a bibliophile but even I cannot justify the price difference
The softcover is not really soft at all, it is thick card and as the following pic shows it is a double layer
I also agree with harvs comment elsewhere that I think I like the black and gold better
ps It looks much better than this pic, I think those smudges you see on the front must be finger prints - which only the camera picks up as I cannot see them in real life

Tim, I think this is a perfectly fine thread for the deck too
Thanks for the pics
Are the backs all different/a franken deck?
Is this deck only available to patrons?

Re: Stockholm17 Anthology by Lorenzo Gaggiotti
They have the same backs, a black and gold design. There is actually an "error" version as well, because WJPC changed the color without Lorenzo's approval.
Limited editions are for patrons, but there is an open edition that will soon be available to everyone. Tomorrow (March 21) the sale opens to patrons, and next week (not sure of the date yet) this deck and many other items will be on sale to the public.
