Re: If An Octopus Could Palm by Dan and Dave (ill. Jonathan Burton)
That’s a tough one - it’s meant for someone without, and for you to be without would require a cancelation of an order from socal - possibly causing him to not make a rent payment, kids and wife out on street - perhaps even grandparents - they won’t last long in the heat…
PM me your address and I’ll shoot you a consolation prize

My luck isn't usually great but do you still have it up on offer or am I the 340th person to ask?GandalfPC wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 11:42 pm

Re: If An Octopus Could Palm by Dan and Dave (ill. Jonathan Burton)
I had to laugh. I resurrected the thread as part of my research in deciding whether to buy the deck. The fantastic Henry helped by adding it to a previous order of mine that had not been packed yet. I was feeling fortunate as I headed off on my daily walkGandalfPC wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 11:42 pm

I get home and see that I could have received it for free due to your generosity
I am happy with your decision just bemused by my luck - I admitted to having just ordered it as I would have felt a bit guilty really.
PS make sure (I don't know how) that the recipient does no have it either
Don't worry about a consolation prize - postage to Australia is going to make most decks (not in IAOCP's class) not worth the trouble but thanks for your kind thought

Re: If An Octopus Could Palm by Dan and Dave (ill. Jonathan Burton)
I see an IAOCPv1 went for $290us on SoCal today. (and yes, I know they used to go for more)
I know I am a bit indifferent when it comes to red backs but I really don't understand such a market for this deck (of an unknown run)
It was brilliant naming, I tend to think it wouldn't have been so popular if it had simply been called The Palming Deck. No doubt being the accompaniment to the book is a factor but the cards aren't really that special are they?
Of course you are getting something that is 13yo and Very unlikely to be reprinted in this form (as proven by the existence of a V2)

Re: If An Octopus Could Palm by Dan and Dave (ill. Jonathan Burton)
My take would be that the name doesn't really matter but simply that it was a pretty limited item back in the days when the Buck twins where at their peak hype. It was made in times where the Buck twins actually released rare items and didn't find "lost stock" a year after the "super limited release" of their decks.

Nearly impossible to purchase outside Korea, offered here is small batch of less than two dozen. Hardbound with original illustrations. Includes matching deck of playing cards produced by the publisher. Both book and deck are signed by Dan and Dave.

Re: If An Octopus Could Palm by Dan and Dave (ill. Jonathan Burton)
I was going to post the same thing. Those signatures look like they scribbled over the text as if it was wrong or a typo.
I'm thinking of selling my IAOCP V1 & V2 books in carat cases and both decks as well. I paid ~$1100 total, with the carat cases totaling $100 of that.

Because they are far too important to let mere text get in the way of their beautiful scribbles

Possibly the underbidder of the above lot hit the jackpot today for a second deck and book set went for only $601 on SoCal today

Correction: It's the same book relisted as the first buyer did not pay. You can tell by looking at previous auctions and seeing the original auction was removed.
