ROME: Augustus Deck - Launching on Kickstarter 10/13

Unread post by RandyButterfield »

Hey UCers!

I’ll be launching a new version of my ROME design on Tuesday at Noon EDT.

The ROME: Augustus Deck will have the same Face Cards as the Antony and Caesar Decks, but a completely new Back Card and Tuck Box design.

Also with this one, instead of a Toga Sleeve, there will be an intricately Diecut Painted Statues Sleeve. It should look pretty sweet!

Here’s the Kickstarter Preview Link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ra ... n=3b3676d3

Plenty of 24 Hour Early Birds!

Thanks, Randy

Rome was one of my earliest playing card projects backed on Kickstarter and I really do enjoy that set. With other stuff going on and that I do have a nice first series set, I am probably going to pass on this one. However, I would strongly recommend backing this project.

New ROME!

As soon as this is live I'm in of course I am. Rome are fantastic and among my favorites. I am looking forward to this new deck and have been. I really like the look of the new card back! :D

Like the black back, not red or blue from original, but I have both plain and toga sets. No need for this for me. I wish you best of luck with this./

Same as Rich and Brad, this would be superfluous to me but anyone that doesn't have the original should definitely get this.

Hey Tom,

I just added an EB for the two single Deck spots.

I hope there’ll be a good turnout on Tuesday! ROME has always been one of my favorite of my designs, and it always sells well at shows and Comic Cons. I can’t wait to have this new version in hand!!

Thanks, Randy

Annnnd I'm in! Of course I am. Huge fan of these decks, there's so much going on with every card they're a delight to explore. Don't know what I'm talking about? That's fine get a deck and see for yourself. Mr. Butterfield did a great job with ROME. These are a lot of fun. ;)

Use the link up yonder if it's the first hour. KS sucks at letting folks find projects with the basic search tools on their own site. It's not coming up on sort by for at least an hour. :P

It's been funded for days now. Giving you all the reminder. Mr. Butterfield is known to have very nice backerkit's and yall should get yourselves in on this campaign. Grab a nice ROME: Augustus deck and some of the whatever other decks he's got in the backer kit that he's self funded. :) There's always some extra stuff in there regardless of what it is as Mr. Butterfield is always working on something. ;)

Thanks Fes!!

I will say that the ROME BackerKit will have the El Duderino Deck (The Dude, Donny, Walter, dirty undies briefcase Joker, coffee can urn Joker, Sweater Back Card...). It will be the ONLY place it will be available for purchase online. It’s pretty much meant for the Comic Cons I exhibit at. I’ve posted images of the El Duderino on my Instagram. It felt great to finish a design that I had to abandon many years ago!

Thanks, Randy

Can non-Rome backers get a chance to get the El Duderino deck when the backerkit is open?

No. I’m not going to have the El Duderino Deck available / visible to BackerKit Preorder Backers. It’s just too risky.

I also will NOT be adding a separate shipping Pledge Tier to the ROME page, like I did with the Grinders Kickstarter / Draconian Brimstone BackerKit release. That was too much hassle to deal with in the end. So the only way to have access to an El Duderino Deck is to pledge for at least 1 ROME: Augustus Deck (or physically come to my booth at any Festival or Comic Con). Like I said, I’m keeping this one close to the chest.

This thread is the only spot I’ll be giving any heads up about the El Duderino. To all ROME Backers who aren’t on UC, it will be a surprise Add-On item.

I’m actually quite surprised at the comments of this version being a superfluous buy if they already have the Antony and Caesar Decks. Especially from the Tuck collectors. The Augustus Tuck Box is nothing like the Antony and Caesar Tucks!

Thanks, Randy

To Randy's defense; he offered you to visit him at his stance at comicons. 😉
You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.

It’s not too far out of the realm of possibilities. I met UC’s Bikefanatic when he happened across my booth at the 2018 Cincinnati Comic Expo. That was pretty cool!

Thanks, Randy

So I got my backerkit for for these today and noticed there is an addon for El Duderino Deck. I cannot find any information on this other than its Big Lebowski themed.

This ROME project was the first RB I haven't backed since Ornate, and so of course I miss out on El Duderino! Midnight Bowling are some of my most favorite decks I own.

This deck certainly turned out beautifully. I especially love the graphic design and style of the cards.
