I really like these; the typography alone is enough to make me have to hold a small cushion on my lap.

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
I liked the Rouge edition better anyway so it was best to get that and then the blue one for free. I wouldn't mind if there's a third deck as long as it looks great like something that I don't have.
Lee's great as of a designer and his communication. I'm still glad I waited years for the Warrior card case which was a nightmare for him to produce.

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
+1, lol
Isn't VXD's next project that collab with Lotrek themed around Monte-Carlo?
This, ladies and gents, is why first to market is so important, especially when it seems that we're all penny-pinching. Not saying theirs won't be a success, but I'd bet the cost of that deck that many will think twice knowing they own Royales.
I LOVE any deck that effectively communicates luxury, so I'm in. I LOVE borderless decks. Reasonable pricing, shipping and free deck to boot? This is awesome. Is there a DOTY category for best bang for your buck kickstarter?

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
Players edition gilded decks now available as add-ons. The render looks good, real good. I may even be in for one and I'm not too much of a gilded deck kinda guy. The price is right that's for sure he's offering them as an upgrade too. Lee McKenzie always outdoes himself. Check out the latest update on the campaign for more information.

At £6 upgrade it’s hard to pass up. The extra foil sleeve over the deck makes the deluxe deck even nicer in my view.Fes wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 2:08 pm Players edition gilded decks now available as add-ons. I was in before because it's Lee but when I saw they were doing a gilded version, I doubled my pledge and added a couple more.

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
This campaign is very quickly looking like a runaway success! I was actually a backer of the original Empire campaign, though I later sold my deck because I wasn't that into the courts. Despite the standard courts I'm definitely in for this because I find myself really liking the red edition and I think it'll be quite spectacular with the gilding, plus the free early bird blue helps, it'll make a great deck to use for card games as I don't have a deck just for that at the moment.

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
Here is the render for anyone that hasn't seen it:

What I like most about this is that he's giving people the option to add-on OR upgrade and existing pledge. I think that's a nice touch for those that pledged for the limited deck. $9 for the upgrade seems like a pretty fair price to me, although I didn't do it because I think I have gilding fatigue. That tuck wrapper does look nice though.

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
I gotta ask who does his coins. They look much more enamel than the Coins For Anything coins.

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
I do know that Coins for Anything does offer more enamel offerings than what most project creators tend to go for. They did the Draconian coins for Randy, and I think I had voted those as best coin for the DOTY's that year (although I don't remember which coin won.) I think they also did the coins for Jody's various projects, and those were very enameled (and awesome).

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
We can add uncuts as an add-on. This is good news for a me, who's been pining for it from the initial day of the campaign.
I wonder how many folks out there are like me and picking some up even though there is no room to display the things.

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
Lee dropped a marked deck "Royales Players Noir" on us a couple days ago. (The 11th) In my excitement, I forgot to mention that here. As the name of the deck suggests it's done in the same fashion as the "Players Edition Rouge" and I think it'll be a real treat to toy with. I wish I had better vision then I could possibly, consider making use of the marks for an illusion or two. Alas I do not and so I will not but yes this deck will too be in me paws.
This campaign has brought sooo much to us. Absolutely fantastic and a pleasure to participate in.
(If you're not in, I urge you to check it out. Well worth your time. Even if you're one of those "ugh Kickstarter" folks.)

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
TL:DR It's hot outside and intermission on the hockey game, time for some texty bits!
I have no problem giving a why for my opinion. First take a look at the page he lays things out nice. Who he is, what this is and what he's done and who's getting the job. It's all laid out nice and crisp up front before the big photo bombing starts, I'm not hunting for the information. Very refreshing considering the campaigns lately but Lee Mckenzie campaigns are just good solid campaigns. With this one of his he's raised his own bar with a free deck if you backed in the first 24 hours.
The stretch goals that first further the product he's trying to have funded once that's done furthering his brand with collectibles that make sense, card guard. Gilded decks for whoever wants to add them, (up to four! yea 4) no problem can even upgrade existing deck. To further that ability can even upgrade that free deck to gilded if you want for under a tenner, yep that happened. The updates are never spamy. this may be subjective but it's my opinion he's never spammed me with nonsense. The stretch goals make sense for the product and furthering the brand without being cheese. Good solid deck stuffs and stuffs for collectors. Coin and uncuts available for everyone to add-on. (The uncuts were originally just part of the carrot for top tier pledges)
Some campaigns feel like they're stretching. Adding luxury items just to do it, making nonsense rules like (not free add space) has been doing for example with the "Back for three decks you can maybe add on this one color gilded deck, back for a half a brick you can maybe add on blah blah" false motivation that to be quite frank just irritates the hell out of me. Sure I get it it sells crap, good for them I guess. It's still not cool.
Mr McKenzie doesn't do any of that nonsense AND even though the same questions get asked over and over, he'll still take the time to answer them with a smile. It's hard to remember that even though the answer has been given twenty times before, this latest question was from a new person. (An art in and of itself) He does it though and in a style that is both professional and friendly. It's a pleasure to watch and to participate in a campaign like this.
Yes I absolutely am a fan. He makes it very easy to be a fan of his work. If you have the time, consider taking a nice deep dive into the campaign. Maybe you will agree with me.

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
Well this campaign keeps getting better. Per a recent update:
ROYALES Private Reserve (Limited Edition of 888)

ROYALES Private Reserve (Limited Edition of 888)

Sadly I do not qualify to add this on but for those of you rich enough, the numbers are this: you need to have at least $71 USD invested in this campaign and then the reserve deck is $40 USD (making your new total at least $110 USD).*Only backers who've pledged £54 GBP or more can add 1 deck of ROYALES Private Reserve for £30*
This means all backers on the '4 ROYALES SPLIT' reward level or higher are eligible. It also covers backers on lower reward levels if they have added on extra funds for additional items (up to £54+).

Is anyone getting the coin? I’m tempted.
I’ll be getting every deck on the campaign. The mark deck looks particularly interesting.

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
I stopped getting coins a long time ago. They're neat and look cool, but at the end of the day they're just objects that I don't really collect, that increases the space necessary to display or store everything.

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
I was also tempted to get the guard. I feel like having a guard collection is it's own beast at this point and I question if I want to continue down that route. I decided in the end to just bump my pledge in the king of tigers campaign and get some more bling (that I'll actually use) over the card guard (which I doubt I'll ever use) in this one. This campaign is already causing my wallet to squeal like the stuck pig.

I don’t usually get coins. But @EndersGame said on Reddit that the Empire coin (link here) was the best coin he owned, and this looked more awesome.

I love this deck but don't qualify (Red, free blue, Black). I get this uneasy feel that this campaign is starting to be a money grab at reasonable-ish costs. (Looking at you COLLEGE CARDS.)
I know Lee is making great variety of decks but I wish I knew of them all to start with vs this slow release.

Re: Royales by Kings & Crooks
My pledge was 40 pounds (shipping included) up until last night. My card collecting friend told me about the new decks so I checked and I realized I fell short - but I read the rules and such and nothing said I could not increase the pledge - so I updated my pledge total to include a marked deck and a non-gilded red then the PR. I sent him a message asking if it's ok and he replied a few hours ago saying it's all good. So just saying you may still have a chance if you are willing to increase your pledge.RichK wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 11:28 am I love this deck but don't qualify (Red, free blue, Black).
