Looks really good! Also like most people I agree with the dark brown texture, the dark black/blue just doesn't fit in with the theme.

I'm guessing the backs will be closer to second picture with respect to the borders.Jocu wrote:Some new mockups from today as we get close to the end of Green Man production and towards H&B.
In the meantime, here's some new shots. Need to get one of the final black back design...
Looking forward to these since RJ Tomlinson (sp?) beer deck failed.
Move on, nothing to see here.

Curious about that deck but can't find it? Actually I can only find one beer-themed deck on Kickstarter which doesn't seem right...RichK wrote:I'm guessing the backs will be closer to second picture with respect to the borders.Jocu wrote:Some new mockups from today as we get close to the end of Green Man production and towards H&B.

Yea, the goal was way too high for just a couple of Bicycle decks on that one. I am also not a fan of the vintage branding they chose nor of the B/W court art.

Ah yeah, I saw that one. I quite like the tuck art but it was a high goal and having two completely different decks is pretty much two completely different projects for the printers so it's quite an inefficient use of funds.kem-collector wrote:Yea, the goal was way too high for just a couple of Bicycle decks on that one. Some news about the Hops & Barley Standards
So our 'standard editions' will have a pretty standard price - either €11 or €12 each/€21 or €22 for the basic pair (these go as low as €7-8 when bought as a brick) as we wanted them to be affordable, colourful and simple decks that people actually use.
However the tucks will not (read, never) be standard glossy tucks. In fact we've chosen a very special paper, along with opaque foiling seen on The Green Man for the details and embossing.
The paper was pure destiny - our printer alerted us to a supplier who had created a paper stock from recycled beer mats, and named all the colours after different shades of beer (much like our deck).
Check out the papers for 'Pilsner' and 'Ale' as per their catalogue.

It's gorgeous! Has a matte, slightly rough texture and little coloured details reminiscent of the beers they represent. The colours are a little more saturated in real life as this was a phone photo.
So the 'standard' decks will actually be anything but. We're still working out what paper to use for the special edition but we hope you like these!

Woah! Tucks made from recycled beer mats! Probably soaked in God only knows how much beer and alcohol. A great talking point when showing the deck. Can't deny destiny for sure. This deck is meant to be!

Hey guys! Some new updates from quarantine...
New Box Mockups for Ale and Pilsner

We've decided on using the beer paper for all three - unfortunately the wood-effect paper didn't attach foil so well in the tests we did.
New enlarged aces for limited edition

Courts and backs comparison

Aces and Backs

New mockup for Brewer's Reserve with proper paper

Wow, really liking the courts, was afraid they would disappoint, well done.
The Brewer's Reserve courts do look a bit tamed, but I'm guessing they will be done in foil or some metallic colour and your renders again don't do them any justice at all? :O

I love the idea of the Ale and Pilsner tuck box material. Details like that may persway me into getting them.
Kinda skeptic about the Reserve court colours though. They are kinda underwhelming for me. I will have to see how the black suits look and decide then.

I like the looks of them. The one thing that seems a bit off to me is having the card background be white. I think it would look better if it was a different color, an off white or a light yellow or brown color.

Thanks! The plan is that the brownish colour is metallic, but we need to be sure to choose the right one to make it shine as sometimes they can come out a little dull. I think we know the shade we want though, similar to the metallic used in T11 courts.Harvonsgard wrote:I love the idea of the Ale and Pilsner tuck box material. Cards should be Pantone this time.
I’m open to the idea of an off-white on the brewers reserve. It has to be subtle though. Every time I’ve seen it done I’ve been disappointed. It’s very hard to fake with ink and have it come off looking like anything but cheap wallpaper...
I like the idea of brewers reserve having lots of design differences to the standards though. Currently it’s the backs, the boxes and the aces, plus cold foil and metallic ink. More the merrier!
For those curious, the colour for the special edition is called a ‘Bock’ although it seems more like a dark stout

You know , for a deck about brewing beer, I figured the courts should look a lot merrier. The current hearts courts look so somber as if they are hungover or something.

But yeah these courts are our standard courts so will be used in future decks of this type and price point. We didn't want to push the 'yay beer' aspect of it as we wanted it to be more about the process and the ingredients than the end product. Plus zoomers are drinking less and so I don't wanna be square

I hear ya! That's why we wanted to focus on the craft of creating a quality beer. I don't smoke, for example, but I appreciate a good quality cigar once in a while because there's just something about the process and the history of it and the unique experience it gives you compared to any other product.OVSUB wrote:Makes sense, I'm gonna Zoom into these decksJocu wrote: I'm British. Plus zoomers are drinking less and so I don't wanna be square. Yeah I guess it's kinda a generational thing I personally don't enjoy drinking too much. A few sips for a buzz, maybe, but anything after I dislike, I guess I don't like the feeling of being inebriated.
NEWS FLASH
As if our finding of the 'beer paper' couldn't be any better, we have received clarification from the producer that not only is it made from recycled beer mats, but it is made from recycled bi-products of beer production including hops, barley and yeast left over from production and beer labels, with a bit of added cellulose to do the paper thing.
Can't get more meta than that. Can't wait to launch!

EDIT - The situation has changed and we're looking at 24th March as planned. Will explain the reasons for this in a post later today or tomorrow, and the Green Man KS update.vasta41 wrote:When is the launch? Time & date?
Basically we're about to experience the first, understandable delay with Green Man assembly but we can't afford to lose time with this campaign so we're going to push ahead.

Hey guys!
I've been tweaking the campaign constantly to get it ready for Tuesday. I'd love a look over of the preview and I'll answer any questions. I'd appreciate any feedback - this campaign is organised very differently to our previous ones so any thoughts are welcome, good, bad or neutral.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/di ... n=2a4b2ff5" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Check it out!
As you can probably tell we're really pushing split bricks on the campaign. Easy Birds at €120 but I'm thinking of making this lower on a 12 hour limit to really encourage people to get involved. Split bricks are the guaranteed way to get the copper decks (along with other limited tiers coming once the goal is met for single, triple, half brick etc) plus it'd mean getting funded pretty rapidly.
