Lotrek, are you planning on a purchase limit on these similar to the G.o.G?

I imagine it depends on how many are available. I am hoping there will be plenty for folks to get and not be sold in seconds.

If it's not limited to 1 per person could some one spot me? I'll be working all day on Sunday. Unless my schedule is changed I'll be working on the 15th.

I wouldn't mind spotting you as long as you pay for the additional shipping cost, of course only if it's not limitedOVSUB wrote:If it's not limited to 1 per person could some one spot me? I'll be working all day on Sunday. Unless my schedule is changed I'll be working on the 15th.

Re: C R Y P T -Mystery deck n.3
I think I have already stated above I will not buy a deck for pretty much any amount, sight unseen. Even if it is a Lotrek deck. This will be interesting though.
I hate to be a naysayer. Sort of. I have very little faith in most people and I give this less than a 1% chance of secrecy success for 2 main reasons.
1. There are a fair amount of people out there who just like to spoil things for others for their own fun or just to be a$$holes. Or even for the infamy of being the one who leaked the pictures for the views or likes. The internet doesn't like anything much more than drama.
2. In order for the unscrupulous price gouging aftermarket seller types to make the most profit, I think they will have to show the cards. Especially if they are amazing in order to demand an even higher price.
I hope the secrecy plan works out for Lotrek and those who buy the decks. However, short of some kind of futuristic technology embedded into the cards that would some how prevent the cards themselves from physically being able to be photographed or recorded, it is going to happen.

Why couldn't they just show the tuck? I figure that the tuck won't/can't be secret - are people supposed to make sure they never take a photo of their card display where you can see it??STLBluesNut wrote:I think they will have to show the cards

Someone mentioned already a tuck in a tuck. That would solve that problem KINDA.hsbc wrote:Why couldn't they just show the tuck? I also hope that the secrecy will work out. I have faith!
If someone spots a photo, maybe we make an agreement to not post it here so not everybody gets spoiled? We can post, we saw a photo of it. But leave it like that. That woud be my idea for our intern secrecy.
I don't know if this makes sense.

Re: C R Y P T -Mystery deck n.3
200-300 decks would be more than enough considering it will definitely be limited to one per person, it took the 600 Room17 decks over a month to sell and I bet they're quite a bit cheaper than this will be. There were only 90 GoG decks and I've only seen maybe a dozen people complain about not getting one (of course there are plenty more who do so privately). There's also what I remember about the Arabesque sales etc they weren't exactly a frenzy, I'm not worried at all, they won't be gone in one minute and if they are I'll eat my words. Also considering how many collectors are tuckists, I don't see why showing the cards would at all be required to sell one (the vast majority will never be opened anyway so it won't even be possible to show them), or even the tuck, I'm sure Lotrek has already thought of that too. If anyone reveals it, I personally think Lotrek should figure out who it was and ban them from purchasing his decks for life lol. Hopefully my Oath Standard arrives this week, but I'm already looking ahead and really looking forward to this!

Re: C R Y P T -Mystery deck n.3
Lotrek's expectations seem to be that someone is eventually (if not right away) going to let the cat out of the bag...or the deck out of the crypt...or whatever, lol.
The takeaway for me is that the whole secrecy thing appears to be just a fun side effect of what will ultimately be a Lotrek deck that's worth at LEAST the value he sells them for. He clearly knows how to accurately price his works at this point, so I don't think this will be a miss there.
So, if going in on one of these is purely a money thing, I don't think there's a Lotrek deck on earth that wouldn't IMMEDIATELY sell for what it was originally priced at (+ shipping, too) -- especially this one, whatever it is.
Unless the release is limited to something like ~20 decks, the ONE thing I see failing is if the price is made astronomically high mainly to try to keep buyers from showing the deck since they will have presumably paid so much for the gimmick of secrecy.
Even if buyers can keep it a secret, eventually, I see a leak happening due to privately shared pictures or, as someone mentioned elsewhere herein, eBay sellers or other resellers. Once that happens, it's pretty much game over.
Anyway, I'm not going to be buying into this from the angle of the secrecy. If people can keep it a secret, then that will be super-fun and cool! But I'm not counting on it having much of a lifespan.
Personally, I'm game for a ridiculously limited release of ~20 decks as a first time attempt at this whole secrecy thing. Price it really high AND make it super-limited. I'm game.

Re: C R Y P T -Mystery deck n.3
Lotrek does issue decks that don't sell out fast, and some are really exceptional. For awhile, Lotrek tried Kickstarter and other decks like the mystery deck #1 (arabesque gold) and the mystery deck 2 (Damask red), Lotrek first took orders and then printed the decks afterward. The problem was, that it was not so easy to print, error decks wasted prints and people waiting for too long to get their decks that they paid for in advance. In the end, Lotrek just decided to mostly print decks in advance. Even so, not all of those sold out, like Sanctus that took over a year to sell out. Lotrek still has quite a few Fable Craft decks for sale (which are a great deal still if you ask me). So, don't assume that these will just fly off the shelf. A lot depends on how many are for sale. If it is 350, they probably will sell out in a few days to a couple of weeks most likely. If he prints more, it will likely take more to sell depending on the price. If they are really good, those that get them first may snap up any remaining. If he prints less than 200, they will likely get snapped up. I think Lotrek understands his market better than anyone, but it is a small market, and is subject always to rapid change. Of course, the sale price will also be a major factor, which I kind of find funny because I have never known Lotrek to ever try to price gouge, even on really limited decks that he could easily have done so. Whatever the price is, is likely the cost it took for Lotrek to make it, plus a typical time and expense to make it worth his while to develop and produce the deck and fund the creation of it. Also, people sometimes forget that mostly he includes shipping in the cost, which is huge internationally. That is not tacked on after the sale.
As for me, I plan on snapping up one. two or three like a panther waiting for a delicious meal. I will by no means be alone on that hunt.

I hope there are enough decks such that it is not limited to 1. If I can I will be buying a few or more.

You forgot to add registered and tracked international shipping. I've yet to lose a package from Greece to my country, but I've been very unlucky with US and UK packages.Bradius wrote:Also, people sometimes forget that mostly he includes shipping in the cost, which is huge internationally. Let's not forget all those lovely Greek stamps which Lotrek takes time to lovingly stick on our packages. (I wonder if he ever regrets agreeing to keep posting us our packages using stamps)

Re: C R Y P T -Mystery deck n.3
Eric, your comment about tracking is correct, it is really a great extra although I have been lucky not to have to use it on any Lotrek decks. However, your comment of Greek stamps reminded me of my funnest posts ever on UC. For those new to UC and to Lotrek that might have missed my post when I fantasized about the Fable deck when it first was announced, I give to you...
A long time ago in a village lived a family during a great famine. You are out of food and your wife sends you into town to sell your last cow in exchange for enough food to last for the family. As you head toward town a Greek man named Lotrek bumps into on the way. "Hey, that is a nice cow you have there. Care to trade it for a magical deck?" "No sir, you see I must sell this cow for food." But, Lotrek quickly replies "This is a magical deck in three foils and metalic inks. It even comes with Greek stamps!". You are hypnotized by the shiny tuck and hand over the cow in exchange for the magical deck.

You come home and your wife asks what you got in town in exchange for the family cow. You hand her the deck. Your wife says "You dipstick! You were supposed to get food for us to eat not a stupid deck. You try to explain about the foil and Greek Stamps, but she chucks the deck out the window. As you follow with your eyes the deck flying out the window, you feel a blinding pain in the side of your head as your wife hits you with a frying pan....
When you wake up the next day with a huge headache and knot on the side of your head, you look out the window to see a giant Olive tree reaching into the clouds where the deck landed....
Lotrek, where fable and reality meet!

Well, it is getting close to release date.
The music that Merlebird posted for Fable rings in my ear again with Lotrek's new release...Crypt.
Yeah, What is he building in there?

I am right there with you on that thought. I did check my Kickstarter pledges and so far I don't have much after Keymaster Tarot ends. My only hope is my finances can recover some afterwards. Maybe if I can delay some bills. Maybe my emergency tire on my car can last another month...THOTRS Tarot is funding around then, and I wanted to make some other purchases...
I also went back and checked. House of the Rising Spade launched right at two years ago. Has it really been that long ago? I go insane for Lorenzo's big campaigns. The really are awesome and don't happen very often. Even a Lotrek offering might suffer my financial pinch as I make a huge swing at a Stockholm 17 major Kickstarter.

I already said this but you don't seem to realise, is a reseller ever going to open it before selling? No. Will the vast majority of buyers ever open it? No. How many people have opened the Gold on Gold or even removed the gross plastic? Me and maybe one other person unconfirmed. Not to mention we don't know if it'll be double tucked or sleeved or something else so that even a sealed photo won't show the real thing, it's a secret and a Crypt after all. We'll see what happens but no matter how many bad eggs there are they're limited by loss of value the same as the rest who care about it. I'm just excited because I am of course opening mine and experiencing every aspect of it.TheCollector wrote:If people can keep it a secret, then that will be super-fun and cool! While price is something worth knowing. I am more interested in numbers. Is it going to be a fastest fingers first or less intense this time. FOMO.
