One Way Decks VS Two Ways Decks ?

Hello Everyone !

My past Deck had One Way Artwork for Courts Faces only (but I kept the Pips two ways for easy reading). I received a lot of positive feedbacks because the overall artworks looked bigger and were more enjoyable than a classic two ways design. The rest of the deck was classic, two ways artworks.

Now that I'm designing my next deck, I have few questions for you, Collectionists and Cards Experts :

- Is doing a full One Way Artwork Deck risky or weird ? (All cards inlcuding numbers, except for the back of the cards)

- What if I keep the One way Artwork with mirrored Pips for Courts only, like my last project ?

- What if I do the One way Artwork but this time without mirrored Pips for Courts only ?

I feel kind of stuck between designing a full one way Artwork VS a full two ways Artwork.
Because having everything two ways except for the courts give me an unachieved feeling at the end ...

*I'm talking about the Faces, not the Back of the cards

What do you think about this idea ?

Personally, I prefer having everything two-way, even one-way courts can keep me from pledging/buying. But I get the feeling I am in the minority, or at least that it doesn't matter a lot to most people.

Completely depends for me. A performance deck (in my case magic) for me should either be two way or extremely subtly one way. But I like collecting decks and for those I don't care and often prefer two way.

As a collector only, I do not mind one way courts or number cards. It does allow for a full body art or bigger art piece. I don't even mind one way backs. I personally don't think it would be a big deal for fun or casual game play. However, I can see how some would prefer all 2 way design, especially as a working deck.

My favorite courts are what I call dual courts. The courts still have 2 "ends" but each half is different. You can check out the recent Luminosity KS campaign for an example.

1st exemple : One Way Court Artwork with two ways pips + Two Ways Numbers Cards



2nd exemple : Same like before, but the Pips of the Courts will not be two ways.

3rd exemple : FULL One Way Deck



I don't pretend to reach the level of Stockholm 17 for the One Way Deck but I like the idea of it...
Is going for a full One Way Deck too risky or weird according to you ? (like 3rd exemple)

The HotRS is likely my favorite deck ever. I would like to play with them, but that is near impossible. However, as a collection piece I don't mind. The art has to be pretty f@#$ing spectacular for it to be successful I feel.

I'm here unisono with STL. Depends on what you wanna do. House of the Rising Spades is indeed almost unusable for a lot of games. The only game where I don't see a big deal would be like Texas Hold'em, where you don't have a big hand and you only have to focus on a few cards. But other games like Canasta, Bridge, Skat, Hearts will become horrible. First problem wit option three is missing corner indices. So yoo would have the spread the cards in your hand extremly to even just see what cards you are holding. A corner index would solve this Problem.
I would go with either option one or three. Two would be kinda unnesessary since the opposite corner index is meant to be readable when holding the card upside down. So either get completly rid of it or leave it mirrored like in option one.

TL;DR: If you want it to be used for magic/gameplay option one is mandatory. Solely art go with option three, but keep in mind that even some collectors want playing cards art to be two-ways because this is what seperates playing card art from miniature paintings.
