Flemish Hunting Deck

Unread post by venomatic »

hey guys, was just browsing and saw this replica of the Cloisters set of fifty-two playing cards, also known as the Flemish Hunting Deck. Figured they were worth sharing due to the decent traditional art and the oval shape, available here, where they have 3 other decks (don't know if it's a legit website though).

Thanks for sharing! This clearly isn't as popular for the average user but as an artist and creator I think these are glorious. I love the obvious history and how you can imagine their creation and uses. The artwork is also rather lovely. One issue is it seems the cards are of different sizes, but perhaps that was part of the strategy of play then?

It's a legit website. I bought one deck and received it today.

The cards are bigger than poker size, I'll try to upload some pictures tomorrow or the next day.

I don't think anyone is expecting good card stock, it's a replica of an ancient deck :)

Here are the pictures of some of the cards.

I chose the wood "case" but I think they also have a paper case available.

It's a 52 card deck. There are no jokers because they didn't exist at the time and no card back also because it didn't exist.

I've added a bicycle card for size reference.

That website has tons of cool stuff. Thanks for sharing the photos. For an extra $10, the wooden board covers really add to the deck.
