97% Fresh on RT.

The 3/120 negative reviews are, basically:

"Epic poem on the cosmic futility of the MCU."
"Disappointing as a result of how great Infinity War is."
"Narratives undercut by faux-improv comedy."

For a 3-hour movie to receive such little criticism, to me, says the movie works. The criticism also doesn't make much sense to me.

I won't post any spoilers for a few weeks, at least. IF I do, I'll create an "Endgame SPOILERS" thread.

I'll just post my general thoughts/emotions in here.

Avengers: Endgame

Unread post by Timmargh »

An online friend of mine is a movie journalist and he tweeted this yesterday:

"Hour 1 = sad but moving
Hour 2 = baggy but fun
Hour 3 = absolutely f***ing bonkers as shit but you're going to love it

That is my review of #AvengersEndgame"

(Edited for bad language; sorry.)

I am pleased to see that it is being well received, both by movie critics and by my friends here on the forum. I'm taking my entire family, and we're joining another family who have girls all the same ages as my boys, and we have assigned seats for the absolute best seats in the best theater on Saturday afternoon. (No, not IMAX; I'll save that for another day). I'm really looking forward to a good "Event" movie. We've seen all the movies leading up to this one. I'm ready for some awesome.

If anyone thinks that they have read all comics (like this one) and know what the storyline will be, they will be disappointed which is a good thing actually. They are going to enjoy the movie.

... no bias there  ;)
You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.

Just to clarify, Sunish...

Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel, Avengers: Endgame, are only primarily inspired by Starlin's Infinity Gauntlet and Hickman's 2013 Infinity.

Infinity War, Infinity Crusade, etc etc etc really have no influence on either movie.

There is going to be a new Avengers movie coming out soon? Cool! I’ll watch it when it is on cable or something. Can’t wait to see Stan Lee in a cameo.

Okay. LMK what you think in 2 years. May as well DVR-it since you'll have an hour and a half of commercials...

You are right. Initially, I was not aware of the inspiration and fell for any comics with title Infinity and bought them. I did read all and found a few were underwhelming and not relevant.

Now, I am reading Injustice - Gods among us (DC Comics) which I was made aware of in March this year. Someone recommended it and I am finding this series is very good in terms of both Storyline and artwork.

I had read Infinity Gauntlet (the whole Infinity trilogy - in fact), but not Hickman's series before (last year), and ended up getting it because of never knowing the Black Order.

Marvel released an 11-book box set showcasing the entire 1990's Infinity event last year before Avengers 3 debuted. The Infinity Gauntlet Slipcase.

Injustice is actually based off of the video game. At least, initially, it was. IIRC they have gone in a different direction with new concepts after the comics completed the 1st video game's story.

Wow. Avengers: Endgame is definitely as-advertised.

It's the best, biggest payoff movie, that I've ever seen.

The one and only time that I'll use a scale of 1-100:

Endgame earns a 98/100. That's precisely how fantastic it is.

Why waiting for cable? 2 months max and it'll be available in HD on - let's call them "free movie distribution service sites"...
