Top Aces of WWII

Unread post by PipChick »

Since it seems Top Aces of WWI & Devastation: Silver Edition are just about to be shipped very soon, I thought maybe we could already start a thread on Jody Eklund's next deck which he's already announced on IG will be launched on KS this month after fulfillment of the two current projects.

All set! As always these look great. Typical Jody but I think I'm starting to get fatigued with these style decks.

I would've done it myself if I could but thanks a bunch - you rock! :D

For me, I like this ace of spades immensely over the one in the WWI deck, but the plane in the center is looking a little bit hard to read IMO.

I backed the full gamut of Top Aces of WWI [first thing Jody's produced that I have actually liked] and I'd be very interested in a Top Aces of WWII deck. I know it will probably not happen, but I just hope Jody manages to include Hans-Ulrich Rudel, Erich Hartmann, Lydia Litvak and Hans-Joachim Marseille - to name a few - in this new series.

[I just realised the tracking number I haven't been able to place might actually be Top Aces of WWI]

Any chance we'd still be able to get the hands on the WWI version deck through this kickstarter? I'm only about a month old into collecting cards and would love to see/get my hands on the first one..

I'm not sure if that's how Jody rolls. Like I said, this series is the first of his I've really been interested in. No harm in posing the question tho.

I am sure some will be available from resellers once the deck is released. It shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for posting my project pipchick. So, I printed a very low quantity for the Top Aces of WWI, but you will be able to pick some up I sure. One thing to note, I am doing a special print run of Top Aces of WWI during this project, since I did such a low print run originally.

"Special print run" .... intrigued, despite buying one of everything the first go-around. Wondering if there's anything there for me.

Speaking of the first go-around, Jody, is fulfillment any nearer??

Roger that. I was the agent for a few extra decks and others were getting antsy. I will tell them that the decks *should* be here at the end of the month.

Brilliant! I'll see if I can swap shifts that night. I should just be getting home by the time it launches.

God that's a superb rendering of Erich Hartmann too. Well done Jody!

I'll be there, but not at launch ... 2am here

** EDIT: Jody, quick question: are you using GW fulfillment for Top Aces of WWI?

I've got a rogue tracking number from GW I can't place and these are the only decks I'm expecting.

It appears that there is not a limited edition of the WWII deck. The case includes a regular WW1I and a limited WWI deck. I was just wondering why not a limited WWII deck? I am in for an EB set for now, but already have a limited WW1 deck from the first campaign. :?

yea, I'm also surprised and a bit confused; in the WWI campaign, there was the Standard, Limited & Deluxe Editions - this campaign appears to only have... the SE? but it's been designed to match the style of the LE of the WWI deck??? kinda strange :?

Yes, I will have stretch goal that will more than likely number all decks for just the Kickstarter project. I wanted to see how the project goes before committing to stretch goals. Hope that helps. If you have any suggestions on how I should make your purchase more valuable, I'm all ears.

I have also expected a second limited deck of the WWII deck, but instead we got a fourth edition of the WWI deck
Backed it for 2 of each without any deluxe or signature case.

Per latest KS update:
I had to reprint the WWII tuck box due to a copyright issue. I had the word, "Bicycle" on the front of the tuck box, which is against USPCC's registered trademark.
I cannot for the life of me find the word "Bicycle" in the picture:

Can anyone else? What is Jody talking about?

Maybe his tuck to print design, not the mock ups on KS.
Move on, nothing to see here.

That photo is an old mock-up. I had changed it a couple times since and settled on “Bicycle” in the end to reflect using USPCC instead of LPCC. didn’t know it would be an issue, but should have known it would be with USPCC.

Jody, while that stinks that USPCC is wound so tightly don't you think it would have been nice to share the information of a tuck change with your backers? That's no minor adjustment and we all paid good money for what was advertised on your KS campaign. Would it be too much to ask for you to share a pic of the "new" tuck?
I've backed many if not all of your playing cards and wouldn't have expected you to be the type of person to advertise one thing and sell another... tsk tsk.

I just received my signature box and two deck set in the mail yesterday, so folks should be getting them in the States any day now and those oversees before too long. The decks/tucks look great. I only got the boxed set, so I am not opening the cards. Those that do, I would like to hear how you ike the cards...

My apologies. I thought of it as a minor thing. I’ll keep that in mind for anything like that comes up again. In my defense, it all happened very quickly, very recent and I didn’t think anyone cared since no one said anything about it.
