Well, it depends... My entire family loves Star Wars. My younger brother, though, has even said he'll "love anything they make". IMO that's not really a fan. You're just an idiot if you blindly love anything with a Star Wars tag/title.PipChick wrote:ya'know, having talked with quite a few Star Wars fans, it always seems like the biggest fans are also the ones that hate SW the most lol
Real fans tend to accept that fact that, in hindsight (depending on how old you were when it came out), The Phantom Menace is a very weak movie. Everyone that I know that actually loves what Star Wars is, after thinking it over, is just generally pissed off by the steaming pile that is known as The Last Jedi. When Luke Skywalker himself says that this Luke "isn't him", then something is severely wrong. The fact that Mark Hamill wants nothing to do with the franchise anymore is very, very sad, but I can't blame him. He was excited for this story when Abrams was involved, and disappointed by the lack of his presence in Episode VII, but he was still around the sets while filming a lot.
My parents were in middle school when A New Hope came out. My dad took my to see Episodes IV-VI in theaters when they were remastered in the 90's, the prequels in the 2000's, and I took both of them to see The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. They've loved Star Wars for decades, and seeing Episode VIII seriously hurt them. [Spoiler Alert] They cried when Han Solo died, but The Force Awakens was a masterpiece to them. The effects, the music, and the story all put them back into the 70's when they were kids. The Last Jedi had too much Social Justice BS, too many incoherent side plots, the music wasn't right, and the mistreatment of characters new and old... It devastated what was one of their best escapes from reality.
Despite how good or bad Solo is, real fans had to boycott it because of what Rian Johnson did. We had to speak with our wallets, and it seems like Disney/Lucasfilm has listened.
