Interesting... hard to nail this one down. The courts aren't bad but maybe a little too much blank space. I don't know if it's just the pictures but the back red looks deeper than the tuck red- they should match. The AoS should be bigger, IMO. Price is a bit high and also odd there's no brick tier level.

Not bad. But goddamn $15 standard. Pretty soon I'll have to abandon the hobby altogether if it keeps that shit up.

I already made that decision this past week. Down to the very bare minimum purchases

Hey guys, creator here.
Just wanted to say thanks for the comments and feedback! A note on price - I went back and forth on the pricing for these, several times. As someone completely new to kickstarter (as a creator) and as a relatively unknown designer, I don't have the kind of 'pull' to bring in loads and loads of backers. The amount being raised is completely for the cost of the deck - which I'm sure you know is expensive. There's no profit for me in this — I'll have to pay taxes + Kickstarter fees if this succeeds and making up the difference out of pocket. The cost also includes shipping in the US, which I think is fair. Thank you for taking a look and thanks badpete69 for sharing a link here on the forum!
Let me know if I can answer any other questions around this deck!
Best,
Billy

I think these are pretty fresh, I like the design on the whole. If it was me, I could make those indices a little bigger and move them a little closer to the edge to improve the fans, and I think the court artwork could be a little bigger all around. One concern that popped to mind however is the name, since the well-received Empire: Bloodlines deck is not that distant a memory...

Being relatively new to the scene. i think these are great. that being said, one reason i think they are great is they remind me of the Animal Kingdom deck by T11. happens to be one of my favorites. Huge fan of animals but i digress. Call me crazy but that is my 2 cents.

I would only argue that the animal kingdom deck was cheaper and came with a foil and embossed tuck.

Thanks for the praise Encarded! I think the court cards will actually be a bit larger in the end...although I've always been a sucker for some good whitespace in design. This is great feedback. As for the name, at this point, I can't change that. (I'm not gonna lie, naming the deck was one of the more stressful tasks!)

Foil is in the plan - and if we go above the goal, embossing would follow. See above for an explanation on pricing.
Thanks!

This is a pretty good design. I say the same as the others, bigger courts and bigger Ace of Spades. But the design is very good, I like the courts, I like the pips, I like the tuck box. Also it's great to see that your first design isn't a bullcrap minimalistic deck, but some real effort has went to this deck. I really hope this gets funded and I hope you make other decks after that also, you really show promise for something great!

I appreciate the feedback Räpylätassu! I've started designing a second deck and this has all been helpful feedback to consider in the future. Thanks for your support!

I'm confused. Doesn't have a suit indicator? Your image clearly depicts a suit indicator.
Thanks for the halfstar. I'd like to think the custom tuck, courts, backs...everything...would get me atleast a full one, but if that's lacking everywhere I'm a bit unsure of what it takes to satisfy you creatively! You can't make everyone happy

The suit indicator on court cards is different from the index. The SI is the bigger pip which is usually found next to the court, which makes the suit easier to identify compared to just having the small index pip.

Gotcha! Good to know. I guess always approached custom cards as more of artistic endeavors but I'd certainly want them to remain useable, I suppose I assumed the minimal pips would be sufficient for identifying the suit, as well as the markings on the court cards themselves. Always good to familiarize yourself with the lingo, eh?
At this point, I don't think I'd be able to easily add that design feature in, considering that some of the court cards hands get rather close to that area. Next deck though!

Thanks for the clarification!

billyfrench - I look at cards more as to the functionality than to the artistic ability. You have to identify the card in an instant both squeezed and close up in your hand and far away at a distance. Some games have the cards laying on a table. Especially with custom courts, you need a suit indicator. It is usually the same size as your pip cards. Cards being (2-10) It seems most of the time it's up in the top left of the court card, but it really doesn't matter. It can be in the top right. If you look at the history of cards they have been everywhere. You could even custom your suit indicator like you did in your AoC. I would say you need to make it 50% of the color of the suit you are trying to indicate. You could even make the suit indicator a background image with he hands in front just so long you can identify the suit. We are just suggesting ways to make your deck better. You can always improve your cards and try again. Never give up...

I appreciate your thoughts on the matter - though coming from a classic design background I will say I approached this more as an art project, and as something to be appreciated visually. (That's not to say it
shouldn't also be functional) - and perhaps that's where our opinions and preferences will have to differ.
These are some good thoughts to consider for the next round, and if it gets funded I will be increasing the size of some of the items since there seems to be concern in that department. Certainly have no intent on giving up! Thanks again!

Just wanted to let everyone here know that:
1. This deck is super close to being funded! So if you've been waiting to see if it had a chance...

2. Add-Ons are now available
3. There's a new reward - screen printed posters are now available (and include a deck)
Cheers! Thank you for your support.

Cool pick up. Back doesn't suit me fancy but the faces are definitely nice.
