Let´s see what kind of pricing they set up for us internationals!
Thin borders and custom courts/ace of spades/jokers. Two tumbs up. The back design is rather more "classical" but i like it.
Wonder if the deck has some "magic" features in it.
The USA pricing is very good...i can only dream of such pricings for international customers ;)

What i don´t like is the twin deck box.

Akins back to the days of bridge sets. Funny how everything old is new again. (Though Kem cards are still only sold in pairs)

I like these a lot,
I don`t mind the twin deck box ,although it is rather bland.

I've already set a reminder on my calendar. How long is it going to take for everyone to start complaining about having to buy a brick to get 1 ltd classic black?

I've been playing with these for a week or so, they handle very well and while I know the "Classic" Red and Blue are nice, the Classic Black is reallly nice and the tuck is very sleek. I think everyone will enjoy these. :)

Cosmic, why didn't you bring over the Classic Black pics, lol

And here I was hoping that Conjuring Arts would go bolder, instead they go more boring. Nothing wrong with this deck, of course, I'm just tired of all the generic back/standard court decks (no, cosmic, those are not custom). Oh well, won't need to spend any money here :)

I agree about the direction CARC keeps going. And I also don't like the twin case, but that Black case is nice...ish.

Which other decks of theirs have the "Master Finish" (that this new "Classic" is being compared against)?

I'm not particularly impressed with the "Emerald Finish" of the Serpentine decks. Diamond finish, on the other hand, I rather like.

Those of you who have played with these... are they more like Gnostics/Luxx/Legends V2, or more like Serpentine? (Or, for that matter, more like Global Titans/Nauticals?) Or... none of these?

If I'm not mistaken, I think this is their newest finish. I could be wrong but I don't think they've used it before.

I can shed some light on this and address some of the other comments as well.
On the finish. As you all know the finish (sometimes confused with coating) refers to the embossing (or lack of it) on the stock. Unlike USPCC we do not start with smooth paper and emboss it, we use pre-embossed stock. This new Classic Finish is actually new stock that has a somewhat less smooth (than Master) finish. It's a little thicker (tiny bit) and a little softer. They wear more like the American made decks many of us are used to now. This stock was discovered by Lawrence Sullivan of Legends Playing Card Co and he tested it on the very limited Sharps decks. It printed very well, handled well and didn't wear out quickly so we named this stock/finish "Classic Finish" and are now testing it phase two, Classic Twins and Classic Black from EPCC.

I totally understand some of the comments about the deck design not being really exciting and those about the trend that Conjuring Arts is not making the decks we market more custom and with edgier artwork. We do this very purposefully. Our mission at Conjuring Arts is and always has been to create decks that are usable by magicians. Although, like many of you, I love custom faces, if they are too far off standard it makes the deck appear trick to the audience and that isn't what magicians want!
This kind of product serves several purposes. It helps Conjuring Arts raise funds to pay staff (we are a nonprofit as most probably know). It also is a way for Expert PCC to show off new techniques, stock ideas, boxes, materials etc. We do that in a sort of simple way so that the creative deck designers can take our new ideas and really show them off. It's kind of a way to showcase new things without competing directly with the designers EPCC prints for. For example the Exquisite Bold was a great old back design and our sparing use of gold foil on the back was more proof of concept than a design breakthrough. We leave it others to use foil in stunning ways (like Jackson Robinson has with his new decks for the 52 Plus Joker club).
I hope this explains things a bit and we very much appreciate everyone's support and comments.
Thanks everybody.

Right, but this one is being compared to their previous, "Master Finish." That's the one I'm curious about. :)

Edit: when I posted this reply, I had not seen Bill's reply above at the time. I'm thinking he must have posted his reply but had to wait for a moderator to let it through.

Welcome to the forums, Bill (although I'm sure this isn't your first time here ;) ).

I get the reasoning behind CARC making decks usable by magicians, although I would think it'd be beneficial to have at least SOME range in your products. But like you say, it doesn't really make any difference (to us) since the Jackson Robinsons and Paul Carpenters will continue to be the ones pushing of the envelope. I will still be hoping for some more showcasings of the possibilities at EPCC (a la Exquisite Bold), as I'm sure others here will as well.

Sidenote: One thing I dislike with CARC decks is the bold/thin indices, which makes fans look horrible when the deck is shuffled. I don't know if all of them has this, but could you put this on the product pages?

Yeah, would like to know if there are any features in this deck which are used for magic.

Sharps are great decks, looking forward to seeing how these feel. For the price point, it's tough to complain - i'm sure they'll be popular with those looking for a good value standard deck.

ha ha. Yep, that and the classic back design were the two things that were selling me on this deck -. IMO The Green Acorn back Bee 1902s were almost the perfect combination - but only have a few left.

As a classical design guy, I like this deck - I doubt it's going to replace the Tangent back reprints as my favourites, but it'll be up there somewhat. The negatives for me is those twin pack tucks - how is this meant to work for actually playing cards? (I know it's almost heresy here :-)) I guess I'll end up buying some Plastic deck boxes to put the opened decks in.

Bill: Can you tell us whether these are marked in any way? It'll defiitely make a difference to my order as obviously one doesn't want for there to be any suspicion of advantage...

Hi Gareth,
The Classic Twins and Classic Black decks are not marked in any way, not even tiny advantageous one way marks on the back. These are totally pure. Lawrence marks many of the decks he has produced and I really resist that. Not saying we will never do it but I'm hesitant. Both the White Lions and the Sharps use a marking system we developed/experimented with and then didn't proceed with. I love marked decks but not printed ones so much.
As to someone else's comment on the indexes being thinner/thicker this we introduced with the Ask Alexander deck and is a very specific system or "bonus" for magicians. That is, if they figure out how to use it.

Interesting thought behind the "twin" packaging but the lack of customization means it's a pass for me.

Totally understand the design paradigm and that's fine by me; I've ordfered a fair amount of CARC decks
But I guess that's why the box is so bland - a magician isn't likely to walk around with a huge box in his/her pocket. Unfortunately for a collector the tuck box is the part on display most of the time...

I may pick up a classic black though if someone like Paul (JP) stocks a few!

The sale has begun.

If you only want the "Classic Black", it's for sale, too, as a singleton. $15 plus shipping. Not particularly cost effective to get just one, IMHO, YMMV....

New Classic Gold deck:
Only 700 decks, with the first 500 having individual numbered seals!

In 2013 LPCC discovered a new card stock, which we used on our rare Sharps deck. This Classic Finish is a softer and slicker paper, which is more comparable to a vintage Bicycle deck. We since offered this paper to our friends at The Expert Playing Card Co., who created the wonderful innovative Classic Twins deck set, feature this new card stock.

Classic Gold is our exclusive take on this series from EPCC, a tuck with specialty gold paper, stamped with hot gold foil. The card back features metallic gold ink, printed inverted from the standard Classic Twins, with the minimal ink coverage offering a slightly different handling than the Classic Twins.

Only 1,000 decks of Classic Gold were printed, with 500 of the decks containing numbered seals. Our friends at Expert Playing Card Co. have a few hundred of these 1,000 decks, which they may release in the future.

500 decks with numbered seals will be sold first, and once those are gone, a few hundred of the non-numbered decks will be sold. Be the first to get a numbered Classic Gold deck of playing cards!

Mediocre tuck with just standard courts is a pass. The backs may look nice in person if it shows well.
