I backed for one of each for this project. I'm so happy there's a tarot deck in this one. I have about 50 tarot/oracle decks and wish more playing card designers dipped their toes into that medium.

I really want the Tarot deck, and I'm not saying it's not worth $60 USD, but I just can't stomach it right now with all the other great campaigns going on. Picked up the limited deck, though. The foiling looks amazing.

I pledged for one of each playing card deck, as I did with Shuffled Stories Vol. 1. I collect Tarot, but I'm very selective and this deck doesn't fit my criteria.

I'd love to see a photo of your tarot collection! What themes/aesthetics do you normally go for?

Why do tarot decks cost so much? The material cost is relatively the same. This is not an issue with JBP, it seems the tarot market is used to such high prices.

I'm genuinely contemplating this project as $95 is a hefty sum for me rn as much as I love the art. If we are to get a special variant for Patreon, then I'm less likely to pledge.

Is shipping included?

Well I guess you get 26 extra cards in a tarot and they are significantly larger than standard cards so I can kind of understand why they are 2x as much.

Yes, tarot require two sheets of paper for printing. Each sheet can only fit about 40 cards, so the cost is at least double that of standard playing cards.

They're not all expensive. I have this set I got from Amazon, and it's gorgeous. Comes in a nice box with a booklet as well.

There are plenty of custom decks of all ranges of prices. I would LOVE to get this one, but it's just too much to spend on a deck that I wouldn't use nearly as much as the playing cards.

There are some really good ones though! My projects explore the overlap between Tarot/Playing cards (live on Kickstarter - shameless self plug). Also have one I’m finishing up for a May-ish release. But lots of great work in this space, some of my favorites are…

Brut Tarot by UUSI
Genoese Tarot by Elettra Deganello (was the basis for the 52+joker club deck)
Wyrmwood’s Corruption Deck from Gentleman Wake
Arcana Playing Cards by Dead on Paper
Illuminated Tarot by Caitlin Keegan
Daniel Martin Diaz (created tarot, oracle and a poker deck)
Kahn and Selesnik (cool batch of different decks, a poker deck and two Tarot)

Like playing cards, the quality of the stock, and tuck material really varies. If we ever get a SoCal meet up, I'll bring some of my favorite tarot decks as a show and tell.

To answer your question, shipping isn't included. With shipping it comes out to 17700¥/$115.81 for me.

Hey kev, these from Ian Campstey have convinced me to buy my first tarot deck - the price as an add on to his current Ancient and Modern KS is very reasonable and even his prices on his website include shipping. These are just a green re-color of his Great Parade Tarot Edn 1 and I think the green looks better than the blue original. They are lovely clean works of art as they are nothing but the art

If you use Pinterest, I share my Tarot Card Collection there as well as my Playing Card Collection. If you're not a Pinterest user, you might be limited in what you can see. I also have a dedicated topic on the Pip|Tuck forum.

I don't stick to one theme or aesthetic, it's mainly what appeals to me in terms of art. I could go into my "rules" but I don't want to bore the others. :) Feel free to PM me if you want more details.

I love your card scans on Pinterest, thank you for sharing those.

I might have to do something similar, I have been looking for a way to visually track my opened decks, but scanning a whole deck is a chore and photography more time consuming again. Your approach gives the essence of the faces without the need to scan all cards. Wonderful

I sometimes scan cards (for UC) but I don't feel the need to do my collection as I have them all catalogued and can just pull out a drawer to see them (the drawers have 2 layers but the bottom layer is often doubles)
