I think just about everybody knows this wonderful website

https://www.wopc.co.uk/

Lately I cannot access their articles. I can do a search but when I click on any of the results the following is all I see
Is anybody else having a problem. I have contacted them (at least I hope it sent) but I am yet to hear back from them

Everything good here. Searching produced results and articles opened. Did you resolve the problem?

Still no luck on Chrome but tried Edge and it is fine there
Also tried my phone and it is fine there (I hate touchscreens but should have done this earlier)
It must be something on my desktop - will have to put superstar son onto it
Sorry for bothering everyone

Uh oh. I wasn't aware of this site. And it's already got me going down a rabbit hole that will surely end up being very expensive.

Ignorance is bliss, for your wallet at least.

I created an account last year on WOPC to maybe contribute with some articles, but for a few weeks now I just can't log in anymore. It sounds strange, but the "Log in" area just does not exist anymore for me. I tried on Chrome, Edge and Firefox but also on my phone. It just disappeared without a trace.
Even when I go to the members list and click on "Add New Article" below the "Become a Member"-Area I just get redirected to the homepage.

I also reached out to Adam Wintle when I created the account to be able contributing on their site but didn't receive an answer till this day. Few days after the eMail to Adam I decided to just contribute a small article and send it in for review. The site showed me that review is pending, but I never received any feedback nor is the article published.

Does anyone know something about this problem or maybe has a solution suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

I also had an account. I appear to be logged out and unable to log back in - no login box. I'm getting the same loop as you. Hadn't noticed until your post. I also can't find comments I left, and don't see a comment section under each article. I don't have Adam Wintle's email address but I have a few others. I'll reach out and get back.

We have to wait for them to wake up.

Thank you both.

I just checked and it actually wasn't Adam's email address I replied to . My message was a reply to the welcome-email, which said I should reply to if I'm interested in contributing.

I can't thank the post for some reason (no thumbs up icon).
Thanks for the update GandalfPC. I'll send well wishes. I'll post any news from my correspondence.

Same here. It seems to be an issue on all posts in the "History & Culture"-Forum

Ah ha. A glitch in the Matrix. A glitch in the Matrix.

My email was forwarded to Simon Wintle, who just wrote back. He asked if I'd like to reset my password. I explained that if one wanted to log-out or log-in, there was no dialog box to do that (at least, I couldn't find it), and that clicking on "Become a Member" (anything in that dialog box) loops back to the home page. And also anyone there not feeling well to get well soon.

Thanks for the update acetofive.

Hopefully he or the webmaster can identify and fix the issue

Just noticed the dialog box with "Become a Member" and "Add an article" has disappeared, as well as the About drop down menu icon. I haven't heard back from Simon.

I heard back from Simon.

The "Become a Member" and "Add an article" features were experiments Adam Wintle tried out, and decided to remove.

I didn't want to pester Simon with questions I still had, so a few issues went unasked and unanswered.

Does membership make a difference in the viewing experience? We were allowed at one time to become members. And now there is no way to log in, log out, or tell if you're logged in or not. He did at first ask me if I wanted my password reset, but I'm not sure how that matters at this point, so I'm not sure why he offered.

It'a also left unclear how to submit an article, if that is allowed.

That's my best assessment of our conversation. If you have anything to add, please do.

Thank you for the info.

Alright, good to know it's intentional and not a broken website. At least for the "become a member" - part.

While trying around just now, I found a way to log in.
If you open the direct link to the login page, it works. https://www.wopc.co.uk/sign-in

I can log in and also view my profile, but the comment section is still gone. It also seems like you can't navigate to your personal profile from anywhere on the site.
So, besides the personal collection, there seems to be no difference anymore to not being logged in.

Good research. I just checked that link and was able to log in and see my account. I imagine Adam hasn't finished cleaning up loose ends. Thanks.

Hello everyone, just a quick note.

A few of you heard I’d been out of action for a bit, which is true, but I’m back now and working again with Barney and my dad.

The social side of the site is now back up and working properly, and I’ve opened things up so content can be submitted directly through the site rather than needing to email in.

If anything doesn’t behave as expected, just let me know. The whole system has been rebuilt over time and there may still be a few rough edges, but I’ll fix things as they come up.
