Hi United Cardists,

Torres's here, glad to tell you that the Anti-Faro team is preparing their next project "The Trial of Blackbeard"

Let me tell you more, this is a "Solo Puzzle-Solving playing cards", What does that mean? The card itself includes a game full of puzzles, mysteries, and riddles. You need to solve all of these to pass the Trial of Blackbeard. The average playtime now is 1 hr & 15 mins and the best record is 45 mins.

So what's after you pass it? There'll be a special prize for the first 500/1000/2000 winners. We're not sure what's it, but there's a high chance the treasure of the game will be a unique design deck / Mini-deck. We'll make sure the deck itself a LIMITED, NON-SALE, and FREE. You will also know your ranking after you solve the game.

Besides the game, the deck itself comes with a POP-UP tuck box of coping "The Queen Anne's Revenge" from Blackbeard and Gold & Silver foiling (The prototype in the photo has not foiled yet), Fully Custom design & UV ACTIVATED design, only appearing when under UV light.

We just sent the prototype to some testers to get more feedback, we'd love to hear more advice from you guys too

Alright Im in, I appreciate structuring the campaign in a way that you only buy what you wanted to buy and didn't have to get the standards or non-deck items to get the special edition decks.

But If I was more of a non-deck "stuffs" collector the boxes are actually a pretty good deal anyway.

I'm surprised how long it took me to scroll just to see the front of the cards.

Anti-Faro tends to put a lot of effort into their campaigns and delivers relatively quickly. I'm sure backers will be happy with this one.

IMO, the seafaring theme is overdone at the moment. Not for me.

Oh, dear! I only skimmed so apologies if I misconstrued, but it seems I have to go all in on a Plunderer pledge if I wanted to play the game? I did go for an EB Plunderer for the early bird pricing, but since I'm only a casual collector, I might end up changing my pledge to just nab a single standard copy.

For the clue game? Just Either of the special edition decks.

There is also a puzzle in there somewhere but it’s just that. A physical puzzle.

Is there any chance a US backer would be willing to pick up an extra rotating coin for me? I could send the money now in advance I just didn't want to have to also buy a deck just to get the coin but if I have to I will, not to mention the shipping is rather high on the campaign page, at least for myself. $10 shipping for a $14 deck is alot.

Hello United Cardist,

I wanted to give you a quick update on the project. We have received around 250 responses, and I'm pleased to report that approximately 79% of participants got the right answer!

We’re excited to announce that the Treasure of Blackbeard (Free Prize) has just completed the printing stage and will be shipping very soon. We've upgraded it with gold foil, an inner print, and an embossed tuck box, featuring 54 fully custom-designed cards.

Please note that this is not for sale,

I just want to put in a plug for the Special Edition of this deck. The Kickstarter is obviously long over at this point, but all the versions of The Trial of Blackbeard decks are available over at Anti-Faro's (they're a sub brand of Room One) webshop here:

https://www.roomonecards.com/online-sho ... ying-cards

I have the Obsidian Special Edition, and just love how it turned out. The goodness starts with the tuck box, which has embossed gold foil on both sides.

Image

Image

It also has a slipcover style design.

Image

Now comes the amazing part - it unfolds into a pirate ship.

Image

The details are emphasized in gold foil, which looks terrific against the black background.

Image

Now the deck itself: The card backs have plenty of pirate imagery in keeping with the theme of the deck.

Image

Here's a look at some of the court cards.

Image

Image

The red printing on black isn't as clear as I'd like, but they are all individually customized, and so are the number cards, and of course the Jokers.

Image

But if you look carefully, you may notice something unusual on the background of the cards. That's because all the cards are to be arranged together into a giant puzzle that makes an actual treasure map.

The puzzle starts with two pirate "letters" (reproduced earlier in this thread), and you have to use the clues contained therein to solve the mystery to find the location of the treasure on the map.

But there's an added twist: the deck has been printed with UV-inks, and you'll need to use a UV torch and examine the individual cards carefully to help solve the mystery. Details will show up under the UV light that you can't see otherwise.

Image

If you don't have a UV flashlight, Room One offers them in their webshop for $8 here.

Image

As a bonus, once you've solved the mystery, you can submit your answer via a web form, and you are eligible to get a special free "treasure" deck from the creator (you only pay the shipping costs).

We had a lot of fun solving the mystery, and were very impressed with the whole package. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for future projects from AntiFaro and Room One Playing Cards!

Do you know if they are still accepting answers? I finally set aside time to solve the puzzle, but I saw in a recent update that they shipped the prize decks and I figured I missed my chance.
