Great artwork on this quirky deck.
Printed by Cartamundi Spain.

48 Euro for a single deck shipped to the UK and printed by Cartamundi and supposedly shipping in December?
Unless these are already printed that ain't happening.
Not bad designs but the deck price and the shipping seem outrageous. Not being aware that Cartamundi is shut down also a bit of a warning flag about not doing due diligence. Anyone remotely a part of card collecting would be aware.

48? I'm seeing 33.

I don’t comment on other creators projects as a rule, but with so much mistrust in Kickstarter right now affecting honest creators I feel the need to speak up here.
Cartamundi have announced their factory move publicly but only those really interested in playing cards or board game manufacture would know about it.
The fact that the creator knows about the Fournier move yet still predicts a December shipment is at best misinformed, at worst a huge red flag.
The expected start date for taking on new projects is January. Even under old Cartamundi timeframes, an October to December turnaround for printing and assembly is impossible as it’s generally 8-10 weeks (and we assemble ourselves so add another two to four weeks to that).
On top of this the shipping costs are high and whilst this smacks more of someone who hasn’t researched deeply enough optimal methods for shipping, that can of course happen to inexperienced new creators, it has also been used in the past as a way to inflate peoples pledges.
I’d invite the creator to come here and present themselves to clear this up but until then I’d be very wary of this project as much as the art is nice and appears original.
Bottom line there is no way this creator has spoken with Cartamundi about the printing of this deck in the past six months or less. Therefore any quote potentially received earlier will be well out of date and they frankly aren’t accepting new projects especially from first time creators.
If anyone has backed this I think it best to ask these questions in a comment to encourage the creator to be open about his planning.

From the campaign text: “For the cards and tuck boxes, printing will be handled in Spain by Cartamundi and I have a back-up printer in the USA just in case there are any issues.”
One imagines another printer is inevitable (assuming they fund and fulfill) and delays in having the fallback handle it are surely possible.

I mean I did have a second thought, that perhaps he’s gone to Fournier directly and they print now under the Cartamundi name (like Italian factories Dal Negro and Modiano you can print cards with them too just no one does in this community) but it’s then misleading as it suggests they will print on Cartamundi B9 stock which Fournier don’t currently produce. They do have their own stocks, and the creator seems based in Spain so this too is an option but with little said about the printer/stock it’s still a concern.
EDIT
I’ve edited out my rant about the atrocious postal rates showing a complete lack of research on the part of the creator. I’m all for supporting new creators but so many now are starting to damage trust in Kickstarter by getting in way over their heads and not doing the work involved in a project like this. It needs to stop and the only way that will happen is if people call them out and send them back to the drawing board to do things properly.

What the heck? No idea how I saw 48 euro, certainly not seeing it now. My apologies for the bad info. Still doesn't assuage my concerns about the project unfortunately.

$26 shipping to the US, that makes it a hard pass, though I empathize with all those European backers who see that about US based campaigns.
I do agree that too many artists just want to make cool art and dont consider what its going to take to turn that into a delivered product, but Id rather that they be up front that they couldn't work out affordable shipping than either just...not deliver...or put themselves in the hole finding out later when they find out what its really going to cost.
The "scothardo" campaign says they are printing with Dal Negro.

Outrageous postage is what coaxes inhabitants of far flung places like Australia to buy multiple copies of decks as they feel better averaging down the postage. The problem can be that the truth be told - they don't want/need multiple copies.
One deck for €18 but €25 postage is out of whack at €43 a deck
The most you seem to be able to order is 4 decks (add on three at €16 plus €4 ship)
So you could buy 4 decks for €103 which works out at about €26 a deck. That is a big improvement
Maybe we need little United Cardists' sub-branches where we can buy as a collective and then have a pick-up point

very interesting and well illustrated monsters. i like them quite a bit. however, as other have pointed out, the shipping is a huge problem for this campaign. unfortunately.
