But... but... didn't USPCC refused to let JR do any more variations on the Tally Ho backs because they didn't want them to be modified any longer?

Took the words out of my mouth. I was thinking the exact same thing as I was scrolling down. Don't get me wrong, Orbit is obviously successful in what they do but if the USPCC is going to approve any design on their Tally Ho's, why this??

I'm not a fan of Orbits, but I think this is actually kind of a cool representation if you like both. That said, I know I'd love to have JR's rendition in my collection, but with the way USPCC treated him on "The Bird" (The Oriole) project, I'm not holding my breath for them to make nice on USPCC-inspired designs anytime soon.

From their instagram comments:

“We printed 12 thousand reds and 8 thousand blues”

“These will go live on the website in November. We'll make sure to give everybody at least a week's notice.”

I like the idea of the project but It doesn't look good imho. Orbit is new school. Tally-Ho is not. They don't work well together - especially not when you know that they'll feature Orbit/Schneider/Arrco courts.
Jackson indeed is a better fit for Tally-Ho.

Big Kudos for Orbit to keep stuff easily available though. He seems like a guy that indeed cares about his community getting and actually using his decks.

CardCon was great. I'm looking forward to next year, and recommend that any fans of cards try to make it.

As someone who has a keen interest in Tally-Ho decks, and has produced my own (2 versions of Gaff Assortment, Black & White versions of Circle & Fan Back, and Elite Edition Circle Back) over the years, I was definitely interested in the Tally-Ho collabs presented at CardCon.

The status of Tally-Ho is that you still can't really make any changes other than color when making a Tally-Ho project as a client of the custom division.

The policy is different for in-house decks and collab decks. Decks such as the various Cardistry and Seasonal Tally-Hos have a lot of changes to the tuck because those are in-house USPCC creations.

The Orbits were allowed because they are not a "custom run" in the sense that Orbit didn't just come in and order them. They're an official collab between USPCC & Orbit. The rules are looser when it's USPCC at the helm.

As for Jackson's version of the Fan Back Tallies - it was also released as a USPCC x Kings Wild collab at CardCon. They only had a few units on-site, but they should be released online soon. So, what they wouldn't allow Jackson to do on his own, they did allow as an in-house produced deck as a collaboration with his brand.

I can't say I love the double standard, but I do understand that it's their IP and they can set whatever policies they want around it.

i like many of the orbit decks but this isnt one of them. the 2 brands dont really mix well and the courts, as usual, are f$%^ing awful. easily the worst part of any orbit deck.

Over on instagram, before these were released, Curtis Lee had posted a mockup of how he thought they might turn out.

Some folks actually prefer his prediction for how they'd look, which is this:

Yup, his version brings out the Orbit brand a lot more than what was produced.

Becoming a bit of an Orbit collector, I picked up a black one of these.
A little irk I have is that the cards are 'swimming' in the tuck and I needed to add an extra half a dozen cards to it to reduce the chance it would crush

i have 2, i think orbit decks and i really like some of the others but this one isnt one of them. i would put down the money to get some of the others i like but they are a bit pricey and those f%^&#$g awful courts. imo, real people faces on standard courts are probably the absolute worst courts there are.

I wish you hadn't posted that StLouey - you will get me thinking about it
The only thing I would say is that they still look like Royalty more so than real people to me (I am a fan of modified Classic Courts)
I do however prefer it when Daniel only indulges himself on just a couple of courts

Can someone tell me about the significance of the 'Red Seal' decks
Is it 'casino grade' or in this instance, were they a limited release by Cardtopia?
The standard edns of these decks can be found for around $10

There was only about 72 of them, I believe. It's just something for collectors.

Are the decks different in any way?

Others can chime in, but I don't think so. The problem is most collectors who care about a different color seal probably keep it sealed :ugthink:
