I'm excited to announce the launch of my second deck (along with a stretch goal for my third) on Kickstarter!

Following the success of my first deck, it motivated me to pursue my other ideas and this lead to a series of Chilli inspired cards.


Inspired by Mexican design, Maya culture and my love for Chillies, despite my inability to successfully grow them, this series has been a labour of love. I was able to work to my strengths with these, by incorporating pattern design. The backs of the decks each have a monochromatic palette that represent the chillies featured and each deck in the series will have its own features and colour palettes.
This deck exists because of the welcoming and encouraging support of my backers and the community. They helped shaped the design of this deck.
Each deck features standard style courts with their own spicy twist. Thank you!

I would say they did it better, not much better. Since they are very similar styles, IMO. But I'm banking on that Serrano deck unlocking- that thing looks fancy.

+1 for these. Not that either is a game changer but particularly the back here is better.

Agreed on the backs. I like that the other decks aren't just recolours but actually have different backs. If they unlock, I'm curious to know how the face cards will mirror the colour theme.

Also, love the jibe (intentional or unintentional) on OPC " you will be excused for trying a milder brand"

Haha, I actually wrote that into my copy before they announced their decks.

I'll share the colour palettes of the other Original Chillies in future updates. Plus the Jokers of the other two and the courts that are different.

Very odd timing considering OPC just released their versions

Quite a few people messaged me and expressed concern about how suspicious the timing of their announcement and launch was considering I'd announced a couple of weeks before, I was a bit taken back by it all at first, but I just made light of the situation and decided not to make any changes to mine or postpone them.

OPC reassured me theirs were very different to my design and didn't offer to postpone either.

I'm very happy with the direction I'd taken with my design and was happy enough to see their style was different enough to believe it was a case of simultaneous invention.

After all the other fruit and vegetables it was only about time that chillies got a deck. Doesn't take a genius for that idea. Quite the opposite, considering the heat hype (introduction of the Carolina Reaper, Pepper X, ...) a while ago, I was wondering why those decks didn't come earlier.

I was surprised too, when I was researching this idea and found no-one had made a chilli deck I knew I had to run with this idea.

Rightfully so.
