2020 'Deck of the Year': NOMINATIONS
Posted: Sat Dec 19, 2020 9:49 am
Hi y'all,
So, although I realize it's not technically the end of 2020 (although I'm sure many of us would prefer it to be lol) and there very well could be a few more amazing decks released between now and then that would be eligible/qualify for consideration in the annual 'Deck of the Year' Awards of recognizing the best of the best, I still wanted to get a jump start on creating this thread for deck nominations and hopefully get people to start thinking about the 2020 DOTY Awards so it'll make it easier and less overwhelming when it's time to vote on Monday, January 18th - Sunday, January 31st, 2021.
To learn more about the DOTYs, please visit the official 'Deck of the Year' Awards thread here.
Currently, we have a pretty comprehensive list of all the decks that have been released throughout 2020 thus far (which you can find in this google doc here) and this list will continue to be modified & updated as needed. It looks like a lot, I know, but do please keep in mind that this is only meant to be an extra resource for the community and you can personally choose to use it, or not - it's totally up to you
If you do decide to take a look at the list, you'll see that the google doc provides links where you'll be able to view pics of the deck and includes filters which allow you to either search for a specific deck or filter out decks based on particular criteria such as artist/producer, date of release/shipment, etc. as shown under the title of each column (more info is provided in a note on the doc, or, if you have any questions, please feel free to PM me
) Personally, I find the simplest way to sort through those decks that qualify for this year is to use the filter under 'Shipping Status' which will state when the deck was shipped & delivered to backers/buyers and could be filtered month by month for the year.
Now, there's just a couple important announcements I'd appreciate if you all would read through in regards to this thread & submitting nominations for the DOTY Awards:
To keep things as anonymous and unbiased as possible, nominations submitted and added to this thread will ONLY include the following: name of deck, designer, producer, printer and, of course, a few pics to reflect what aspect of the deck is being considered for award. (ex. if a deck is specifically nominated for it's back design in that particular award category, I'll only be posting a pic of it's back design to keep other aspects from swaying the vote).
So, let us know what decks you think deserve to be nominated for recognition and be sure to spread the word - either through social media or trained carrier pigeons - to others that might be interested in joining the community in our little playing card corner of the internet to participate!
Final List of Award Categories are as follows:
2020 might have sucked but our DOTYs don't have to - Let's make this year's DOTY Awards the best ever! YAY!

Now, there's just a couple important announcements I'd appreciate if you all would read through in regards to this thread & submitting nominations for the DOTY Awards:
- The intended purpose of this new thread is NOT to provide an opportunity for discussion and/or debate (we've all been there and done that already in specific threads for many of the decks that are eligible), but simply to serve as a sort of visual list for members to browse/scroll through and hopefully to aid those in voting for each of the various award categories that will be listed in their own separate posts that you'll see below. With that said, I respectfully ask that you all refrain from posting here on this thread. If you do happen to have any comments/questions/concerns regarding any content on this thread, please feel free to either reach out to me through PM or do so publicly in the Discussions thread to keep this one as uncluttered as possible. Again, this is just to be used as a simple visual list of nominations and nothing more.
- Nominations can be made by any member of the community, for any deck and for any of the following categories that will be listed below in each of their own separate posts. But, I'd like to try to keep things anonymous to deter the loudest voices in the room from possibly domineering over the opinions and/or voting of others. In order to do that, I request that anyone interested in making nominations to please do so directly through PM to me, 'PipChick' and this thread will be updated with those nominations accordingly as soon as our UC DOTY team is able to. Once again, please refrain from posting here on this thread - thank you!
- To nominate decks/designers, simply PM me with the deck(s) you'd like to see be added to this thread and be sure to make note of whichever award category listed below you're specifically nominating it for and I'll ensure that it'll be added there. As nominations start rolling in, we'll do our best to update and modify this thread as soon as the 2020 DOTY team is able to, but if you don't see your submitted nominations added instantaneously, don't worry; just give us some time so that we may be able to do so and check back again later.
