Umbra Playing Cards by Jody Eklund (Luminosity Pt. 2)

Umbra will be a continuation of the Luminosity Saga. If you loved Luminosity, you will be sure to love Umbra! I already have the artwork done and sent to Legends Playing Card Co. Once I have the samples in, I will be doing some photography and video shooting.
All that's known so far is that Jody said he will be using cold foil in a
previous post.

I really like Luminosity so will almost definitely be getting Umbra.
I also really like the LPCC classic(?) stock used in Kodiak.

Here is some more sneak peeks for you all. These are samples I have been using to photograph and do videography for the Kickstarter.
I think it will have to be pushed to January for launch time.

Hey @jodyeklund, will part 2 be printed at the Chinese or Taiwanese facility?

Most likely PRC

...
Shoot; I forgot about this

. Long overdue for the USPCC RnD crew to step up their foil game. But I guess the giant is fine with doing the mass market business while letting the high quality (designs and foil work) be taking over by LPCC/EPCC.

Cartamundi needs to start whipping USPCC into shape

Really hoping the acquisition wasn't just a formality of ownership...

I am actually hoping Jody uses USPCC. This is mainly so the set runs consistent across both versions. I also hope for a copper gilding again. Maybe a darker copper gilding? That gilded Luminosity is just gorgeous. I hope he also keeps the tuck paper types used the same as well.

Regardless, I don't think USPCC cares all that much about competing with the foiling at EPCC. While most everyone here appreciates foiling and other playing card innovations, I have to assume that "standard" playing cards still widely outsell those with "bells and whistles." So while I agree that it would be nice to see better MetalLuxe work at USPCC, I don't think it's a priority of theirs since I bet they're doing just fine without the extra RnD expenditure.
Having said all that, I hope that Jody goes with USPCC, too. Which is my usual hope with almost any project.

Eh Mr. Eklund knows what he's doing. Whatever facility he decides to hire for the job will have the quality he's looking for and most every one of us is going to be happy with it.
I'm looking forward to the campaign.

I have always enjoyed working with Lawrence from Legends. It was sad for me when I switched from using Legends to USPCC. The reason for the switch was that it took about 8 months to get a project produced from the Taiwan factory. They got a little lazy on their customer service (Taiwan factory that is).
Lawrence has found a good factory in China that he can use exclusively. Instead of 6 to 8 months to complete, the process will come down to 2 months from the time of submission. 1 month to produce and 1 month to ship. Due to Covid, I had the time to finish all of the art work and get samples made.
Lawrence has been the one that originally sourced all of the paper and technology for the Taiwan factory and he has brought all that over to their new exclusive factory. One of the things that Legends has that I could not get from USPCC was the ability to do Cold Foil or Hot Foil on the the cards. I will be doing Hot Foil on the backs of the limited deck. Very excited. Lawrence does a lot of innovations and we both like trying out new things.

Another October KS! I'm starting to wonder if this some kind of plan to decimate the wallet just before the Christmas season. Where's the Q people to break this cardspiracy down and let us know.

Any Luminosity decks left or will be available to purchase on this Umbra campaign (for those who did not get or could not back Luminosity)? Thanks!

Thanks for a peek at the Kickstarter page.
I was really hoping for another option for the gilded decks at $240 for a brick like last time.... The only way to get a gilded version this time is as part of a tier, and then only one gilded per backer tier. I am going to have to think how deep I want to go here. BTW, I do love that copper gilding used on the Luminosity Luxury decks...

Yeah, I will put it in. It will be very limited. I will probably only do 10 people.

Just put it in. $360 this is due to the cost of the Noir deck is higher. Hot Foiled backs and faces.

This is most likely way too picky and niche and I'm not faulting AT ALL if things stay the way they are, but in a perfect world, I'd love it if there were an earlybird tier for 2x the limiteds.
Still planning on pledging the 1x and adding one on, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

The EB Trio of three decks has only 20 slots, so I would expect them to go really fast. That said, if you pick up one of the gilded tier (200 slots - which I also expect to go fairly fast) and add on one of the merlot and one of the slate versions, that is only $5 more. $65 for the EB or $70 to package it yourself. I wouldn't fuss about just getting the single gilded tier or do two on two different accounts.
I do understand the issues you have and need to increase the price for the gilded decks, even in bulk. That still doesn't comfort my wallet.
I went back and checked and my Luminosity order was a mind-numbing $390 for the split brick tier and the add-on luxury brick add-on. No regrets though.

2x UMBRA Trio
Get TWO UMBRA SLATE STANDARD DECK + TWO UMBRA MERLOT STANDARD DECKβ¨ + ONE UMBRA NOIR LIMITED DECKβ¨

Looks like only the gilded trio EB is limited to 20. Is the non-gilded EB limited by a time window? That would be good.

Hoping for something with more than 1 gilded deck. Iβm not sure if I need 12 like bradius

but 2/3/4 gilded deck options would be nice. I note they canβt be added on.
By the way, will the gilding be done in the legends factory (in China)? Or done in the US? I have one of the Jerryβs Nugget vintage feel gilded (in China), and I find it too clumpy. Not sure if itβs the same factory. The US gilder does a better job.
