BIG BROTHER. Custom foiled deck /KS

Unread post by 3rd dominion »

Hi, guys!

We would like to knows your opinions about our second project BIG BROTHER. A Custom Foiled Deck inspired by George Orwell novel "1984".

Collection set consists of 3 decks.
The design is presented in three types: Silver foil, Gold foil and Cobalt Blue foil.

Stretch goal- Glowing under UV-light faces.

Project launch date on Kickstarter 04 August 2020
You can subscribe here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/3r ... oiled-deck

George Orwell coined this phrase in the third paragraph of the first chapter of his novel “1984.” He wrote “It was one of those pictures which are so contrived that the eyes follow you about when you move. BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU…”

Thank you

Why 3 colors? Are all courts same color? Seal "Think or or Sleep" text needs work.

That's overkill in my opinion. Pick 1 tuck then have others as stretches.

We all have different tastes. we decided to give a choice. our creator doesn't like gold in any design, he always prefers silver. but it's his choice. you can make your ...

I love 1984 - such an interesting concept and a lot of his points proved to be eerily accurate, even today (it was written in the 40's!).

This project looks great. I think the gold foil tuck box is your strongest for sure. Card backs are great and the overall sense of oppression and being watched is well done. As a collector of fully-custom decks, the faces are a disappointment but I imagine this will be targeted for magicians. Aside from the fact they are more-or-less standard courts, I think the color choice is odd. Or at least the choice to fill them in with the teal. It creates a lack of contrast and the subjects look ill or like they are drowning.

That being said, good luck and this is a nice tribute to one my favorites!

Thank you, cool comment. I really enjoyed this comment. You understand the idea! Why we are used that colors for faces? in the modern world they use bright colors and we decided to use them in order to highlight all the rubbish of the modern world

"Think or or sleep" is confusing on the seal. Maybe "Think or" on one slide and "Sleep or" on the other? So you can read it in an endless round?

I like the back design and tucks quite a bit. I get keeping standard courts for functionality, but I'm torn on the recoloring - it's really dark and lacks contrast, but could also look really good with the neon inks under a blacklight. But a great 1984 feel all around!

I AM with others on the three tucks feeling unnecessary. Particularly if it's just three standard decks with nothing but swaps. One or two being limited with a numbered seal or something makes more sense.

I agree three tucks are, why? Pointless really. One pretty one (silver of course) is good enough considering everything inside is going to be the same.

For years I carried in my wallet a sticker of a big eye ball similar to this to remind me, Big brother is always watching. (I use cash exclusively for day to day purchases. It's difficult in pandemic world, still do it though. I don't need Big Brother to know I have a five pound bag of flour in my pantry. Big Bread can go knead. I make my own!) I like this. I like the jokers. I like the courts mostly, they feel like they're stuck in a poorly lit world with constant stress. It's the small details that add the mostly, some of that is meh. Overall I dig them. I like the card back too. Yep, I'd use this deck and have a great time. :)

I'll absolutely have a look at the campaign. :D
TL:DR It's completely up to you.
We can still be friends.

I really like these. The color combination is great! And the theme is well executed throughout. But I really REALLY wish it were just one deck. Please just do 1 deck.

Gold or silver. The aqua color in the design is enough blue for me. I just hope this finds with 3 decks. 1 deck, lower goal.

EDIT: I would actually prefer a coper foil for this deck!

In previous comments we have seen a preference for gold and silver colors. This is the reason why we made different options to choose from
