UC2021 decks by Lorenzo Gaggiotti - 8th (almost) Annual Decks

Today Lorenzo and I have agreed to produce the next series of UC Decks (to be styled as the "8th Annual Decks" even though we are skipping 2020 to get things back in sync timing-wise).

The name is going to be "Odd Fellows" or perhaps "odd Fellas" or some variation thereof. Sketches are likely to get started in earnest in August, once he finishes up with the current "RAVN IIII" campaign now funding on Kickstarter - and funded in 45 minutes.

I don't want to steal his thunder, but he's been a good friend of UC since his first decks, which I am proud to have had a small hand in getting produced.

I like the idea of basically skipping 2020, altogether. It has definitely been a bastard of a year, no doubt. I REALLY like having Lorenzo on board for the UC 2021 deck!

We could always just get someone to take like 10 minutes to scribble together a 2020 deck in Paint and get MPC to print it. Would be fitting I think.

Everyone bashing 2020 can send her/his Crypt deck(s) to me... and Legal Tender... and Keymaster... and Robin Hood and all these other awful decks produced in this oh so awful year ✌🏿😁.

Me too! He has totally free reign to take this wherever he wants to, so it should be an epic set! As always, he runs Kickstarter campaigns like no other, so it will be fun and certainly rewarding for everyone.

viewtopic.php?p=187862#p187862 I vote for this as the 2020 deck. Seems fitting

Extremely glad news for me!!! I also agree skipping this havoc-ridden year just to take a break from all those potential production issues, not to mention the pressure to produce a quality deck with only half the annual year remaining. Looking forward to what Lorenzo can come up!

Well, if you had already done artwork and ended up in this mess, you would have certainly not wanted to wait for what is now an indeterminate amount of time to fund it, but I don't want to plan on funding a deck when there are a lot of people who are broke - like right now.

Honestly I can't promise that it will be better by Kickstarter funding time, but on the other hand, I really don't think funding decks by @Stockholm17 is going to be a problem.

Also, "skipping" a year at this point just makes sense for more reasons than one.

Did I miss the part where literally anyone said it's been a bad year for collecting, or is collecting your whole life? Also I don't think the Legal Tender re-release counts, and so far I've received a total of 4-5 deck packages this year thanks to all the production and shipping delays so it's certainly what I would call quiet. I'd rather have just the 2021 deck and make it amazing than to have both 2020 and 2021 at the same time thanks to delays!

My comment has nothing to do with the decision to skip a deck release! I'm all in for quality over quantity and for giving a designer enough time to create something great.

Well, I was mostly just stating exactly that without stating exactly that.

See what I did there?

Noice decision to skip 2020 and get Lorenzo to do it. Lots on his plate to do.

Odd Fellows is an very appropriate theme to represent UC for sure, but that's putting it mildly.

However as EvilDuncan suggested:
We could always just get someone to take like 10 minutes to scribble together a 2020 deck in Paint and get MPC to print it. Would be fitting I think.
It could still be done. After all, JR's already done his Hype deck. We can use either his version or Daisho's version. JR has to be in the KoH face. MPC or WJPC or maybe even Shuffled Ink, whichever is cheaper. 2 versions 1 Std and 1 gilded of course to reflect the new trend. Under $10 if possible or do a preorder.

It'll be a perfect deck to represent 2020 and current deck trends. Plus it gives UC some needed comic relief. :ugthink:

Whaddya think?

Nah, although it could be done, the whole intent here was to permanently relieve us of the "late" moniker. We'll be on time, funded on time, printed on time, fulfilled on time, &c

I just decided to try something for this deck series, open up the
conference for all registered users instead of only a select few.

You should be able to find the forum and create / edit posts there - everyone should. Now, since I can't hide anything from myself, my intent and the result might not match 100%, so try and if you can't find it or can't write / edit / quote - let me know. Since I didn't open up any of the preceding ones nor the ones already planned (9th & 10th), it should show up as the only sub-forum under the "UC Annual Decks" group down below "Community" for most users or after "Moderators" for those that are.

I think the best thing we have done lately is come together and truly group-think the design with Montenzi on the 7th AD "No 7", even though he was - as always - free to take it in whatever direction he wanted, he did allow us to give him suggestions and listened to everything said, "good, bad and ugly".
