Nice, typical T11 deck. Well, tuck anyway. I would love to make that guy an offer of $9.95 since that's what T11 will be selling it for in a few weeks

. But I'll just wait.

Franco Pascali is a magician, mentalist, creator, and performer. At 21, he’s a true phenom and prodigy in the world of magic - with frequent performances at The Magic Castle and high profile events around the world.
The Magic Show at The Roosevelt is a demonstration of Franco’s most powerful, impossible magic and mentalism, presented in an intimate, elegant theater.

Ehm... just FYI; like Dan & Dave Buck, Noel Heath and Andre Jihk, Franco has always been a magician. Cardistry has evolved from Magic and some magicians where at the forefront making it its own art but the ties are not cut yet.
Agreed on the can't make a living from it and that is exactly why they sell merch and cards.

Nah I fear this one won't be on sale on T11... Only given at the hotel to guests it seems ... Probably another one like the Silver Monarch EMP edition or like the Ellen deck

Another cookie cutter T11 deck that's being set up for the hype of artificial "rarity".
As for not being able to make a living in cardistry, I feel the selling of merchandise is the natural progression of the monetizing of the art and go hand in hand. In that sense, folks like the Buck twins and the Virts seem to do OK. But yeah, cardistry for the vast majority is just a hobby, much like card collecting.

So funny, does anyone posting know Franco or anyone posting about the deck have one?
A gut reaction comment is one thing if you know what you're talking about...but if you have no frame of reference then how can you possibly know what you're saying?
Backstory, I took the photo in the first post (taken from my instagram). It's a deck (Theory11 produced) for the hotel. Yep, fully custom...available to guests and customers of the hotel for purchase. Similar to the Fraggle Rock deck and the Spare Room deck...had to get them at the Roosevelt.
Franco, he's a magician and a cardist (pretty sure you can be both these days). I produce the The Magic Show with T11 at the Roosevelt....we just did a successful run of the show with Justin Willman for a year, and now doing it with Franco. I've known Franco for years, we've worked on a bunch of projects together including a Disney movie that we hired him to consult on for a couple months. Super talent magician, super talented cardist and doing a great job performing the weekly shows at the Roosevelt. If you're in LA, come check it out.

Honestly, I think I'm done with T11 decks. Ever since I bought both Star Wars decks and opened them to find that both decks had the exact same courts. I totally expected the light side deck to have light side courts and vice versa for the dark side.
Just felt like they had the perfect opportunity to do it right and they hit the easy button and got paid.

If somebody is interested in seeing the cards. Full custom but I'm still not into TXI that much.

That's actually very nicely done by T11. Very classy and elegant. Fits the HR hotel theme. But won't be paying more than what Tavern on the Green charged for their own T11 deck.

Someone on reddit bought a handful of these -- and sold them for $70 each

The courts are very underwhelming being almost completely identical, otherwise it's very nice but not something I can see myself picking up, particularly at aftermarket prices.

Good margin

. It always baffles me that folks are willing to pay more for a TXI deck than the OG retail of an Oath Standard or Fable Craft ed.

. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I believe that's because T11 has more mass market appeal , especially since their tie up with B&N and Target to sell their decks. Don't forget the cross market appeal for their decks with the magic industry for over 10 years.
Whereas Lotrek will only be known by serious playing card collectors. It's only now in 2020 that his Arabesque and Less cards are hitting the magic and playing card collector online stores.
Also prior to 2019 , Lotrek also didn't produce many decks in a year, let alone an affordable players edition. So awareness of Lotrek decks are something you'll only know about if you frequent the FB, Reddit and forums for playing cards.

Hmm... yah. I kinda get that. But for me this is even more a reason to never drop anything more than the standard price on a TXI deck. For me it just feels like people are buying soda for the price of champagne. That is what baffles me. Not judging or anything it is just a funny thought for me since, I come more from a what kind of craftsmanship went into a deck perspective.
I get that this particular deck isn't readily available on the TXI website for the normal $10 price tag.
At the end of the day everyone has a reason to spend whatever he likes or needs to spend on something.

Oh I totally agree with you. $70 for a T11 deck is just plain ridiculous. I also use Lotrek decks as a benchmark for what I'm willing to pay at what price.
Also, see the threads on Fontaines, Anyone and other cardistry hype decks which sell for 2-3x the original cost on launch day.
On the flip side, I suppose one can also see it as a positive sign that proper custom decks with well designed tucks and sometimes custom courts are getting recognized in the hobby. As far as I know, only JR decks can consistently command such price jumps in such a short time.
It's also a positive move that Lotrek decks are getting sold at retails sites now and he's decided to have more Player/Standard Ed decks which are constantly in print to establish the Lotrek brand.

Last time I saw red fontaines (which seem to pop up more often lately) listings, they ask for similar prices like for OG Nuggets... LOL

For those interested, some people were able to get brick of these and they are available on ebay for about $25.. Much better than the initial; $80 from a few weeks ago

TXI IG posts shows that these will be one of the new decks released on Friday. The other deck looks like maybe a Limited Edition Product RED.

It might be a slightly a different version released tomorrow? Guess we will see I feel bad for the guy who paid $80 2 weeks ago if it is the same deck

Yea, it very well could be - like how they have the EPM version and normal version of the Silver Monarchs. We'll be finding out soon! I'm sure quite a few paid up for some of these. Most that can drop $80 on a deck sight unseen and known are not really going to feel any pain over the new $10 cost from TXI website. Now the guys that reserved a room at the hotel and bought multiple bricks on-site with the intent to resell them - those guys may be crying in their cups...lol.
EIDT: One of those guys is Deryn - the guy from the Noodlers deck.

I have every T11 deck except the EMP one so I tend to be a completist (or w/e the word is) when it comes to theri deck. I did drop $25 with free shipping yesterday on it... worst case I lost $10 I guess

Well hey - you will be in a position to tell everyone if there is a difference. And if there IS a difference between the ones sold at the hotel and the ones sold on the website, all the better!

I don't. Nobody forces anyone to get on board of the ridiculous hype train regarding certain decks.
Plus it's always a good laugh to see someone spending 8 TXI decks worth to get one single deck TXI deck (a pretty underwhelming TXI deck one might add)

I agree. I do not begrudge anyone for selling playing cards on ebay for whatever price they want. I know many people here do not like that but I feel differently. But I'm not hypocritical- I don't feel bad for the buyer either if the price ends up going down. Doesn't happen often but if it does, you can't complain.
I also can't complain that I tried to help out the community by using my friends in low places to order me a handful of these to try and sell to you guys here a lot cheaper than what they were going for on ebay. But of course, the site got hacked and I couldn't post anything to gauge interest so I just pulled the trigger anyway figuring when the site came back up, people would want some. Perfect timing!

Turns out they're now on ebay for about the same price I'd be able to sell them for.
SO if anyone is interested in a deck or 2 from little 'ol me please PM me. I don't have an exact price yet but I'd basically be selling them for the cost I paid, around $25ish.
