Hello everyone! I am launching a new deck on February 11 at 2pm ET on Kickstarter I have been told this is the place to let everyone know :)
The deck is designed by me and Destino. I am sure some of you already know him by some of the decks he already created. If you don't know him do not worry, you'll find plenty of info on him on the Kickstarter page.

We have been designing this deck for over a year now and we just finalized everything this January. Super pleased with the results and hopefully some of you will be as well. The cards will be printed by Cartamundi and the tuck case from Gambler's Warehouse. I will be posting some pictures on this thread so you can see for yourself but the Kickstarter page will be the one to check out since i am not sure if i am posting properly on this forum. Haven't posted everything but i will attach some pics here. I tried uploading these attachments but it wouldn't allow me to do that because the file was too big.

Here is the back design, the tuck case, court cards and pips. The tuck alone features gold & white foil on purple premium paper stock.

This is the tuck case:

And these are the Aces, some of the courts and pips:

Because of the HD quality of these pictures i could not upload them directly so i was forced to create a link. Please let me know if it doesn't work for you!
Let me know what you guys think of it or if you have any questions/concerns.

Purple! I like purple...I also like green. Will there be a second deck to this KS and will it be green? lol! Is there some history or meaning behind the name? I see a two-way back with clock faces, but not sure how that relates to "Verge". I like the looks of it and will keep my eye on it for sure.

Weird design choice with the courts. The borders on the face side take 50% of the card's width, if my eyes don't trick me. I can't tell yet if I like it or dislike it. For now it leaves me with an odd feeling.

Good overall design; nice and classic vibe.

I quite like the trippiness of the concentric lines on the courts, and I love the back of the tuck, I'm also a fan of the rare to see purple deck. I'll definitely see if I can spare the money by the end of the campaign reminder.

I kinda like this. The tuck box is pretty, the aces are nice and I like the layout of the number cards; not convinced about the courts though.

This looks like a luxurious upgrade of the basic decks we use daily, definitely refreshing in its overall front design. However, like what @Harvonsgard mentioned, while the court figures are fresh, the white sides are too much, leaving much to be desired... Hope this could be thought over by adding some side elements to fill the blank!

I am trying to figure out how to reply to each comment individually. Haven't figured that one out yet lol. I will respond to everything here.
1) There will be a potential 2nd deck depending on the stretch goals. We wanted to create a classy back design with a color we don't see very often. I honestly got tired from the same colors all the time. Funny you asked but the first prototype we created was green haha. We are thinking of keeping green for the 2nd backup color if there will ever be one.
2) We actually went back and forth with the courts. We designed 3-4 different court designs and after a lot of consideration ended up with these. We liked the oval border around the faces and we couldn't keep that if the border was thicker because it would look weird. The reason why they don't cover more width is because of the oval shape around them but interesting take. Thank you
3) Thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated. We though purple is the color to go with. We want to see more purple in the playing cards community. Such as underrated color and with such classy design we thought it suited it really well.
4) Thanks a lot for your feedback. Personally I am excited to see how we perform in the kickstarter campaign
5) As much as we appreciate the kind words we actually like the courts, a lot haha. I am sure some others will want more out of the empty white space but i like the subtleness.

You can hit the "quote" button and see how to quote someone...then just copy all the quotes into a single reply and enter your comment below each quote. Or just reply individually.

As for the oval shape, I get it. But I also agree there is too much white space around the oval. Maybe some light UV ink forming a pattern....or make the oval seem like a window and frame it in a brick pattern so that it appears the court members are standing at a window in a castle. Just some background to fill out the void.

Another color (that I don't particularly care for) that people seem to clamor for is orange. Seems that is the color that is most under-represented in cards.

I would be one of those. I love orange.

I don't understand why designers to put their beautiful art into such small areas when it should be displayed as big as possible. Cards are small enough as it is.

However I do get the need to fit with the border. But I find the extra large pip to be redundant and makes the courts look cramped. Remove them, make the pips under the indices slightly bigger to compensate. See if it helps make the courts stand out better.

The art is interesting but I agree with the others that the borders are way too wide and, as a result, the art seems sort of squished. Shame

Thank you everyone so much for the comments. We are taking all your feedback into consideration and we are actually changing the courts slightly to add some width to the design. The design of the actual courts/faces WILL NOT change but we are adding some elements around the cards while enlarging the actual faces as well so there is not too much white space left. Ok, What's the significance of the time shown on the clock? Is nobody else curious, or am I the only one who doesn't know? :?

We decided that is the most simple and 'not suspicious' time for the clock. Not that there is anything suspicious at all haha

This looks like a solid deck and I really love the card backs and tuck design. Do you plan on having the tucks embossed and are there any plans for foil?

One thing that bothered me that I didn't see mentioned here was a design feature of the Ace of Hearts and the Ace of Diamonds. The border of the secondary shape around the large pips doesn't look as organic or natural as the club or spade. The club and spade don't have that chunky outline and I think it looks more delicate and pleasing that way. Also, I think it would make the deck more interesting if you came up with some kind of fun story for the time. It's a fun detail for the overall experience of the deck and it made me sad when you said there really wasn't a purpose for 9:00 or 21:00 being chosen.

"I was taking a dump at 9:00 in the morning when the idea for this deck popped into my brain." Something like that!

Hello! Destino is here, i'm the designer of Royal Verge Playing Cards! :) The tucks features embossing, gold foil, and white foil on purple premium paper stock produced by Gambler’s Warehouse :ucstar:
About the time shown on the clock, it's funny because it is actually the time when i was working on the idea for the backs suddenly the idea of having a Victorian-style clock popped into my brain

Thank you for your feedback. haha that's actually funny. Not sure if that story would suit well with the campaign but it is creative indeed. I hope a lot of backers make up their own stories about it haha. As for the Aces, that's a great observation. The spade and clubs have rounded shapes which was easier to flow the border around if that makes sense

We are finally live on Kickstarter! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who gave feedback, criticism, and their own unique ideas about this deck in the previous thread i posted. After a lot of consideration we upgraded our court cards from our previous ones and we hope you like these better! I just wanted to create a great design, affordable prices, and smooth fullfilment. It would be a dream come true to fund this deck and see it come to life. Check out our Kickstarter page!

Wow, so much nicer than the earlier version. Thanks for the change. Great 1st deck and so much better than many of the other KS projects right now. Good start at almost 50% there.

however, just 1 comment. The background and courts blend in too much now and don't stand out. Anyway to tweak the colour or contrast to get the effect on the aces or just to make the courts pop more?
