Most Anticipated Decks of 2019

After a quiet-ish beginning of the year, April was quite active on the new deck front (Randy’s Wild West, TGW/Lorenzo’s Parlour, Jody’s Luminosity and Jocu’s Fillide) were all announced pretty much within a week.

This started me thinking about what other decks I am looking forward to being launched later in the year. For me, these would be the four that I would like to see soon:

(1) Srdjan’s Stories - the level of fine detail on this one is amazing and I am hoping they would not go with USPCC as they are suffering from major registration issues as of late;

(2) Lotrek’s Bosch - I am not a fan of Bosch’s art (far from it) but I would very much like to see what Lotrek would be able to do here;

(3) Lorenzo’s HotRS Tarot - I do not need to say much here, the early indications is that it is going to be fantastic; and

(4) MTdesign’s watercolour deck - not sure when and even if it is going to be launched but with the right execution, it may be a great deck.

It would also be interesting to see what Alex Chin would come up with and whether he would also depart from the style that many of us like (and, of course, there is also his October NPCCD release coming up in 6 months). I also wonder what JR has in stock for us for the second half if the year.

So what decks are you looking forward to in 2019?

Thanks to your post I just checked out (2)... Looks awesome and will be on my "keep that in mind"-list.

Definetly looking forward to S17's Tarot House of the Rising Spades aswell. Most definetly the Mayor Arcanas will be mind blowing. I never was a Tarot guy (UUSI changed that :D ) but Lorenzo's is a must. This is definetly my most anticipated for 2019.

(4) was long on my watch list aswell, but I stopped following the progress since it seemed that this is never going to be released.

I personally look forward to the nihilismdeck, but since it is a all black deck with only a white "X" on the back, I guess a lot of people in here will laugh at me... :ugdance: but I can't help it, I like the idea and the design.

Stockholm17 is also coming out with an indexed version of House of the rising spades.

We also have Montenzi’s Glide deck to look forward to in beautiful cold foil.

I wish I'd know about Lorenzo's tarot deck before backing one on KS – I've been looking for one for quite a while and the Slow Tarot deck was the first one that came anywhere close to something I like, and I'm guessing the House of the Rising Spade will be pretty much perfect, for me at least.

Thanks for reminding me about the Glide - hopefully it will be launched soon after the fulfilment of the Tiki campaign.

Is Wylie Beckert's next deck project supposed to launch this year? I know her process takes a while. I'm really looking forward to it, though.

You're allowed to own more than one tarot deck :D :lol:

Thanks, mum. ;)

I'd told myself that I was only ever going to buy one tarot deck as a kind of token gesture; I want to try and stick to collecting standard, 52ish cards, poker sized decks otherwise I'd be chasing every variation of decks sizes, types etc. That's why I've stopped buying the coins/chips/clips that often come with Kickstarter decks … it's just too much! :D

Except in this case you may want to make an exception. I am also not collecting Tarot decks but now have two: one from Uusi and another one from Dead on Paper and Lorenzo’s will definitely be the third.

Oh I absolutely will make an exception!

House of the Rising Spade is one of my go-to decks whenever people say, "I don't see the point of collecting playing cards." I whip out the cartomancer variant and the point makes itself; one more educated soul to add to the ever-growing list.

I nearly forgot, Lotrek is also working on a minimalist deck. I am normally not a fan of minimalist designs, but I can make an exception for Lotrek!

I might buy it even if Lotrek made a limited edition deck of blank cards.

Lotrek's Heironymous Bosch deck for sure. I am absolutely a fan of Bosch's art, seeing that brought to playing cards by a world-class artist is like a fantasy deck.

I actually have a few Lotrek blank cards! lol I never thought that they might have a monetary value though.

Please stop giving him ideas for his next mystery deck. :ugthink:

Glide is not my next project. I'll probably launch it later this year with two different decks in one campaign (Glide + Red Warriors). My best estimate is three more projects in 2019.

This year I'd like to see V2 Cartomancer deck by Alain Benoit and some new work by Kings And Crooks (Lee McKenzie). In my 2018 rating they created two best decks last year.

Besides Lotrek's Mistery deck, Lorenzo's tarot version for HotRS and the possible second deck from Alain Benoit, I am looking forward to the just announced various mythologies deck by GPCC, a few from KingsWild(the meat deck, the October and December shorts decks, and the Surly Rooster on Kickstarter), and whatever Giovanni and montenzi will do(especially in cold foil :drool: ). Thats all I could think of right now. :D
