Cardistry Club by Vanda

Hey everyone,

I'm excited to announce a new project that I've been working on for a while now...

CARDISTRY CLUB - playing cards designed for cardistry will launch on Kickstarter this coming Saturday, May 4th.

Volume I (decks #1-12) will be available as a mixed brick, shipping later this year.
Volume II (decks #13-24) will start shipping as a monthly subscription starting January 2020.

There is one design that's being resurrected from past Vanda decks (Polaris) in a cardistry version. The other decks are all completely fresh and I've mixed up the approach to the face designs as well (some are standard 52-card decks, others are completely not).

We won't be reprinting any decks in the collection and will leave recoloring to a minimum ((I don't expect more than 2 colors of any single design, and most decks will be completely original).

More details to come soon but for now you can check out some of the designs and video teasers on Instagram: http://instagram.com/cardxtry and request an invite to the launch at http://cardistryclub.com

Enjoy!

Looking at the Instagram page, I quite like many of the design and am happy to see that the faces are not just standard.

I am not a cardist, but these decks look interesting. Depending on pricing, I might think about it. You may have a pretty big hit on your hands with cardists. They are league's better than many of the big name decks out there for sure.

Thanks — glad you like the designs!

Regarding pricing, you can preview the Kickstarter campaign (I'm still finalizing a lot of details but the reward pricing should be final or pretty close to it):

I'm loving this idea, especially with custom courts! I'll probably be backing it. I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of the tuck colors with the green border around the white field, but that's just me.

Looking forward to the launch!

This looks very promising!

What about shipping prices, particularly for international backers/club members?

Obviously there isn't much I can do about international postage rates but I'm working to make these as reasonable as possible for everyone. The Volume 1 brick through kickstarter including international shipping will be $100 total. The monthly club subscription rate for international members will be around $17/month shipped for single deck with an option to purchase 4 or 12 decks/month as well for a much better shipping deal. I may also explore other options depending on interest level such as holding international shipments to be sent out quarterly or yearly instead of every month.

I am really liking this project, but do have a question about why you can only get one set of volume one, but multiple sets of volume two decks in all your tier selections? Will there be an option to get two of volume one and volume two?

I’m definitely interested in backing this one! :ugdance:

I'd be fine with this to save money :D

:D :D :D SUBSCRIPTIONS :D

That 2 year early bird deal works out to just over $7/deck, what a deal :D

Are the tucks just going to be regular glossy finish...? Hoping for more color and borderless designs in 2020 too :D

You will be able to add on more bricks of Volume 1 through BackerKit after the campaign ends.

The tucks will be standard USPC. I'm opting to save money here since the focus is really on the cards...this also helps a lot to keep the overall pricing reasonable. The custom tucks and cost of assembly adds up real quickly.

Also, one of the goals with Cardistry Club is to really involve the community in development of new decks. I'm looking to incorporate ways for everyone to participate by voting on design ideas and even submitting your own ideas with the opportunity to get rewarded plus have your idea turned into a deck in the collection.

These look very nice, the Polaris especially catch my eye. Nicely priced, too! This really puts to shame a lot of cards marketed as cardistry decks.

This is not for me but I think it's a fantastic idea. Great way to sell cardistry decks!

Seems like it will be another great execution David...If I take a look around, your Planets Series inspired a few others to start a series through Kickstarter, the Lunar Zodiac Series & Composer campaign comes to mind. You showed how to execute such a sternous & long campaign successfully, and through this Carrdistry Club, you are going hard on this theme with some great looking decks that are both a cardistry as well as a custom deck...You're also trying to resolve the pain point of shipping for international backers. Kudos!!!

Wish you all the best & hope this becomes a success as well.

These cards may prompt me to learn some basic cardistry... Don’t know if I’ll go for both volumes or the subscription but the Vol 1 decks so far are looking nice! Look forward to more pics of the card fronts, hopefully.

Just to give you a taste of some of the variety you can expect with the face designs in the collection...

I'm IN.
Finally a cardistry deck (series) that's not bashed and well received on UC!

Is Ren named after Kylo Ren?

Well, these actually took effort and design. They have custom faces and courts. Also, the price isn't bad. The tucks could use some help though.

Thank you for the enthusiasm and encouraging responses!

The tuckbox designs are final. I realize these tucks aren’t as exciting as some of the other boxes I’ve done lately but given that I’m opting to use standard USPC tucks, I think the design will make these boxes look as good as they can. I’ve gone through many iterations on the tuck designs and decided to go with a generally uniform look for the entire collection. I think you’ll like these a lot more when you see them printed and in a set.

Based on the reward tiers, it looks like Vol II is a lot more expensive than Vol I. What's up with that?

Probably due to shipping. Volume I is shipped all at once while Volume II is shipped on a monthly basis.

This is correct. Also note that monthly subscription to the club for a single deck each month will only be $12 shipped (USA).

"Ren" is a Swedish word meaning "clean" which applies to the very simple minimalistic graphic style of that deck.

Hehe, I guess there's a dual meaning then ;)

I've added more images and details to the Kickstarter campaign:

And I expect to have the final version of the video available tomorrow which I will share once it's ready.
