I remember the first trailer seeming 'interesting', but then the full trailer just looked so dumb.

It still boggles my mind why a lot of folks named William go with the nickname Bill instead of Will. Why is that?
And are there people named Billiam out there?

Okay, I say what everybody thinks. Gandalf ain't human but is AI (not that I have any problem with that, since I'm pro-robot and pro-AI).
Now another question is if any of those Billiams goes or went with Will as a nickname?

Re: Last person to post wins. . . . .
One of my best friends' full name is William. He goes by Billy with friends, but Will as a professional. I thought it was hilarious one time when he ordered Thai on the phone and said that the pickup order is for "William", because I had never heard him refer to his full name before.

Great story but still I have no answer why Williams switch to B in their nicknames. I probably die never knowing...

Not the best source but this page looks decent enough

William to Bill
Credit the Irish with this one. Evans says that a curiosity of Irish Gaelic will turn a "W" sound into more of a "B" depending on whether the word is the subject or object of a sentence. Either way, the first written evidence of a William being called Bill was in the late 17th century when Irishmen mocked King William III of England by calling the hated Protestant conqueror "King Billy."
Richard to Dick
Many of the most common English nicknames can be traced back to Medieval times, when half the men in England were named either John or William, and the other half were Robert or Richard. Evans says that inherited surnames didn't even show up until around 1100. Before that, people used occupations or lineage as last names: John the Smith or Robert son of William.
In those days, nicknames were essential to keeping Richard your neighbor straight from Richard your brother. A popular trick was to create rhyming names. The original shortened form of Richard was Rick, which became Hick and Dick.
The letters "H" and "D" were popular rhyming consonants, apparently, because the original nickname for Robert wasn't Bob, but instead was Hob or Dob. Bob arrived much later, Evans says, but you can still see the original nicknames in English surnames like Hobson and Dobson.

Considering that I actually loved 15th Century history in school, I figured that was the case.

Oh man, I listed a probably £ 100+ deck as £ 30 and someone bought It before I noticed. Gotta honour the deal though.

Which deck was it? I had something similar with someone running an online store and an eBay store. He updated the prices for the Virtuoso SS15 in his eBay store but forgot to raise them on his website. Hue hue hue.
He did honour the deal as well.

Is there any difference between the Intrepid and the other EOTO variants?

I'm guessing that those 2 teal-gilded stacks are the same deck? Looks like I'll have to get 2-3 of them to complete my EOTO collection.Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 11:30 am Intrepid has edge printing and a red back.

Okay, I'm losing track of things. Three of those gilded variants are from the KS campaign, yes? And the "Intrepid" edge printing is from the Patreon variant. What's the fourth gilded one from? Was there another super special edition that I forgot about? (Clearly, the answer is yes.)

Re: Last person to post wins. . . . .
That's the beauty of Lego (and similar brick building systems), there is just one boundry... the one in your head. If it can be imagined, it can be build.
Above is a MOC (my own creation) or from our pov an SEC (someone else creation) aka a fan build, not an official Lego set that you're able to purchase.
Does anyone know how a flat tv looks, when the adhesive, that holds display and housing together is flawed?
I smurfing know.

Re: Last person to post wins. . . . .
I'm not sure if I mentioned it here before (unlikely), but I bought the Complete Calvin & Hobbes set a couple years ago. The hardcover set is just 3 books. I haven't had many good opportunities to crack it open since purchase, but back during the pandemic I believe I got about 5 months worth of comic strips into it. It's much more political than I remember, but maybe the 90's stuff that I was into was more vague about it, or it could be that as a kid I couldn't care less what political undertones it carried.

I have this set, as well, but it's been years since I opened it up and re-read it. I'll have to do so again soon, keeping an eye out for that. I am very intrigued by your observation.theCapraAegagrus wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 2:07 pm I'm not sure if I mentioned it here before (unlikely), but I bought the Complete Calvin & Hobbes set a couple years ago. Re: Last person to post wins. . . . .
I love C&H. When I was teaching Philosophy, I used a number of C&H strips to illustrate the points I was teaching. It was amazing rereading C&H and finding so strips which related to what I was teaching. Bill is a genius that he can make the strips so relatable for both my kids and I, as an adult at the same time. Worth re-reading again to see the different layers in a simple strip.
