Those old Courts look great - more like Jackson's work than modern day Riders

Mailman just came by, so time for Mailman Monday. I don't do many old advertising decks, but I've always liked the look of this one, and when I saw an excellent sealed deck I picked it up.
c1930s Petoskey Portland Cement Co. deck in two deck case (with mismatched top) from US Playing Card Co. Check it out.

Today, the mailman has been very, very good to me. I have seen lots of Aviator decks in my time collecting cards, but I've never ever seen an Aviator tuck box as cool as these. I believe that is the Spirit of St. Louis flying over the ocean on the tuck. c1928

Wow, just a year after he flew across the Atlantic. However, that was a huge deal at the time. A commemorative deck wouldn't surprise me at all, but super cool with period art work.

Not Aviator brand but this 2015 deck is one of my very favourite cheapies
The art work is by Abraham Garcia Sanchez and the tuck is superb

Thanks Chuqii, although my Blues feature Howard Hughes and his H-1 Racer, the deck was a tribute to the Red 1927 deck you have kindly found for us

I'd be remiss in this Aviator discussion if I did not refer back to my 1925 Aviator deck from Western Publishing.

Does anyone know the name of the ship pattern shown in this auction?

I'm hoping someone here won these, so that we'll get good images and info.

Are you saying you were the seller, or just including the auction images here for reference?

What an amazing collection! I can't imagine the effort it's taken to curate it. I'm very impressed by how good a condition the decks and cases are in, especially given their age.

That back design is Adventure. It is a pretty hard back to find. I was all set to bid on these, but the seller accepted someone's offer before I bid.

Welcome back to Mailman Monday! While the previous KEM decks got away from me, this NM National Playing Card Company El Dorado deck did not. c1885, This deck is complete with super shiny gilding, but what is just as cool is that this deck has a wrapper on it. It came in a leather telescoping case with some game counters, so maybe this deck did not ever have a tuck. I am curious to know if anyone here was bidding against me on this one, so let me know.
And here is a link to my other El Dorado decks:

It's been a minute, but Mailman Monday is back. Today we have a wonderful Dougherty No. 0 Steamboat in Denver Plaid, complete with box, c1890.
For a slightly newer version of this deck, c1910, check out my old post here:
viewtopic.php?p=112435&hilit=dougherty+ ... at#p112435 You can really note the change in the KS.

Not sure how ephemery this is, but it is Ephemera Friday and I'm showing my cards (and other stuff).
Wonderful c1900s playing card press, hand-made by C.H. Kuerdeli of WInona Wisconsin for the Pastime Band (also of Winona) led by William Fakler. I have a few card presses, but this is by far the best. Super sturdy, the only one that has a metal screw, very nice! Check it out ...

If its name has "playing cards" in it, then it's a good day for playing cards. Built to last.

Mailman Monday! Today is a really nice c1890 Tip-Top No. 350 deck from Perfection Playing Card Company complete with the box and joker. Almost all of the Perfection decks only had the brand name on the boxes, and those are really hard to find for 134 year-old decks. And here's a link to my previous Perfection posts to scroll through:

Ephemera Friday - This looks like a deck of cards, but it's got a surprise. When you pull the deck from the tuck, the spring inside releases and sets off the cap with a bang! I received this deck in a lot of other cards and had no idea when I opened the deck. There are other vintage Mongol prank decks out there as well. I think this one is from the 1930s or 1940s.

Mailman Monday! This deck arrived many, many, many Mondays ago, and I can't believe I never posted a pic. One of the better antique advertising decks out there, and this one still has shiny gold edges. c1925 The C. Reiss Coal Co., Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

It's a Tally-Ho Mailman Monday. The 345 Tally-Ho Bridge Color Series deck showed up last week, and I realized I'd never posted my Andrew Dougherty No. 45 decks, so here they all are. I really like that colored Bridge Ace of Spades. Decks are all c1920s and part of this short-lived Dougherty Bridge line.

Early Ephemera Friday this week. I was scrolling through some old Geyer’s Stationary editions from 1909 and found a few playing card ads to share. I always like to find more info on the Tally-Ho decks that aren’t circle or fan, and these picks have the back names, too. And an ad for the slotted back design seen in my No 45 bridge post. Here you go.

Picked these up for the tuck variation since I'd never seen the Rider Back text without a white box around it. I checked on Portfolio52 and I did not see this listed, so I thought I'd list it here and see if anyone else has one of these. c1994, made for sale in Canada. Front and back shown. Seal is International Playing Card Co. Ltd, the Canadian arm of USPCC.

Mailman Monday. Today our intrepid letter carrier brings us this Bay State Card Co. Judge deck, c1920 based upon the tax stamp remnants. I'd like to think that 25 cent price sticker is original to the deck, but who knows.
