guys, I've got the absolute worst head cold (could also be ebola or bird flu - maybe both) and have been restlessly sleeping for like 30+ hours over the last 2 days - I can't remember the last time I was this horribly sick - can anyone recommend any home-remedies to at least somewhat alleviate the symptoms? I think I might be dying...

I don't know about "home remedies". I usually go with chicken noodle soup, diphenhydramine, water, and a ton of sleep.

If you're that sick, and you have the means to go, you should see a doctor. But 2pc is right that hydration can't hurt.

As for what foods to eat when you've got a cold: that seems to be heavily culturally defined (the Japanese under-the-weather food of choice is rice porridge, for example), so I'm not convinced any of them is rooted in much more than the de facto avoidance of rich or oily foods plus placebo effect. Just look for something filling and not too heavy that's on the bland side. You know better than I do what's readily available in Germany that fits that bill. (You can definitely rule out everything pickled, so that's like 65% of German cuisine right there.)

I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling well.

I don't really have any home remedies to suggest, but if it's available, I know I only trust Placebex brand placebo to treat my hypochondria. The label says it's similarly effective for head colds, as well.

You can also try Dydrahofaphenoxamyn. https://soundcloud.com/dim-sumguy/dydrahofaphenoxamyn

I have finished my Death of Superman countdown collection! I decided to pull the trigger on a fairly-priced Superman Vol. 2 #75 CGC 9.8 Signed by Dan Jurgens.

I watched a few other 9.8s fall through the cracks earlier this year already. I was thinking about waiting a couple weeks but copies aren't as readily available recently as they have been before. One delusional seller has kept a copy on eBay forever, priced at an LOL of $575, when they normally go for $150-200.

UPDATE: I'm still feeling pretty shitty, but considering that I was able to manage to get my sick-ass outta bed for the first time in 2 days, I suppose a little less shitty... I guess I won't die from this cold after all.... *sigh* pity lol Fever sweats have subsided and I can now somewhat breath outta one nostril so I guess I got that goin' for me, which is nice lol

Since I've been mostly managing on cold med cocktails and Nyquil on the rocks, I think I should perhaps try to eat something even though I don't have any appetite to do so; and, as appealing as rice porridge sounds, I think the best I'll be able to do is unfortunately cup o' noodles lol These are the days I hate living alone; I wish my mom was here to take care of me... shut up! I'm not too old for that lol

Anyways, thanks everyone for the suggestions and virtual hugs all around lol :)

Also, everytime I get sick (which really isn't that often), I can't help but to remember my favorite sick meme:

Glad you are feeling a bit better.

Try some whiskey or brandy and coke. It probably has no medicinal value, but is good at making me not care how carpy I feel. The alcohol might kill a few germs in addition to brain cells. :ugdance:

yea, a nice mix of Ibuprofen, Sudafed and alcohol sounds like a real winning combination for a nice, relaxing self-induced coma-like sedation :ugthink: lol add in some Dextromethorphan and I think we can really have a party lol

okay guys, so I've had this video like tabbed on my laptop for like almost 2 weeks now - last week, when I was sick, I thought it was HILARIOUS, but I attributed that to all the meds I was on; however, this week, I've watched it almost every single day (I'm not even ashamed to admit that sometimes multiple times a day) and I STILL crack up every.single.damn.time... is something wrong with me??? For whatever reason, I find this to be the stupidest/funniest shit I've ever seen

so guys, I had Subway for lunch today and I witnessed the customer in front of me order GUAC on his MEATBALL SUB!!! The sandwich artisan and I made brief eye contact in a state of mortified shock before he continued on to create this guac-meat-substrosity. I was visibly shook... Unfortunately, he ordered to go so I couldn't actually stare in horror as he ate the damn thing but I shudda called the police, right? Only a psychopath would do this! I've been deeply disturbed by this since this afternoon; I dunno how I'll sleep knowing that such a mad man is loose in my city...

what in god's name is this world coming to?!?

I don't know how the previous generations survived without internet memes. The People of the Internet - Divided by Distance. United by Memes.

Often when I am alone, I think about on how I would explain various modern inventions/phenomenons etc to an alien/time traveler from the past. Great way to practice English and dig up random information you have stored in your head. I always have hard time on explaining the internet. How to explain something so utterly stupidly beautiful?
