For those who missed out on Doc's Tough Luck playing cards, he has released some of the variants. Only the Shadow edition and Black label Limited Ed Gilded variant are still available, with the Shadow ed is going for $15 instead of $20. They seem to be releasing their private reserve at different times, so worth subscribing their newsletter so you don't miss out on any future release. Definitely cheaper than current Ebay prices.

That's great news, I wanted to get one extra but ended up giving up when I saw a hefty 28$ to ship it to the EU.
I'll pass

Introducing Tough Luck V2. The concept of the deck is based on the idea of bad luck, and each court card features a different scene of someone having their own tough luck. From Wild Bill's "dead man's hand" to being attacked by bees, there's something for everyone. The best part is, even if you don't win at poker, you can at least take solace in the fact that you're not the only one having a bad day

Any updates on the courts/back design? Or just changed colour scheme?

Looks like it's just a change in color scheme, although I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong. The backs now feature a blue element to them, with a bordered back like before but also a full bleed back (which is very much to my liking).
The faces on the bordered deck remain identical to the previous standard version as far as I can tell, whereas the shadow deck is devoid of any color except for the hearts and diamonds pips being in silver/grey. (Was that true of the previous shadow edition, as well? I don't have one of those, so I'm not sure.)
Price is reasonable enough ($13 ea for a standard deck). I wish the full bleed backs had faces that at least featured red pips for the red suits, but YMMV. I still love, love, love the design of the courts, but I don't see any difference from the first round, so this round feels slightly redundant.
BTW, does anybody know why they have the roman numeral 76 (LXXVI) on the tuck?

In the next couple of months I'll be starting on another Tough Luck we have planned with an all new tuck box and courts... "Tough Luck: Origins" Should be a fun one.
"LXXVI" is also found on all of our other collab decks (Lucky, Four Clans..) To my knowledge I don't know of anyone figuring that out yet...

Disappointed they announced free shipping on early birds but there are no regular early birds, only expensive ones, just seems misleading.

I've been looking at the rewards for 10 minutes and I still have no idea which tier to pledge for or even how many decks there are
I also LOVE the mini decks

It's worth noting that while supplies last, you can addon a free (plus $10 shipping) half brick of previous Doc's playing cards to your pledge. So for those of you on the fence like me, it'll cost you $43 to pledge for the 2 regular decks and get 6 others, 8 total. I didn't have any Doc's decks so this was an easy decision for me. 8 new decks for almost $5 each? Yup!

Man, that's absolutely the best KS addon ever! Already got the Playa deck when Doc first joined UC and offered a free deck for UC. Don't care much for the Lit and Juice Joint decks as I'm not into casino decks. But I was on the fence for Ocean's curse. The $10 shipping cost is already less than the original cost of the deck itself and I get 5 free decks along with it!
The HB addon is still available at this posting time.

Yeah, this offer is bonkers. Pushed me off the fence, too. Keep in mind, as I noted before: I love this design, and the prices for decks (not including shipping) were pretty reasonable. And, mini decks! What's not to love? Even so, as I noted before, I was perched firmly on my fence because, well, there wasn't enough *new* abo-- wait, what's that? Add six of your previous releases for less than $2 each?
How could I turn THAT down?
I'm in.
Still available as of the time of this post.

Adding the "free" HB increases the shipping from 15 usd for two decks to 38 usd. The exchange rate doesn't help either lol Unfortunately skipping this one.

Curious why you put free in quotations as if it's somehow misleading. It clearly states the six decks are free, but you'll still have to pay shipping. I've honestly never seen a more generous offer in a campaign.

FYI, info on Doc's campaigns in general
Doc’s Variations:
· Standard (EDC)
· Limited
· Gilded
· Private Reserve or House Edition
Our Standard Edition cards are perfect for anyone who uses playing cards, whether you're a magician, poker player, cardist, or board gamer. These tucks have a standard CMYK print and are usually available in larger quantities, often at discount prices. Our standard edition cards are made from the same high-quality materials as the other lines but without the high-priced foil tucks. So if you use your cards and you're looking for a great deck of cards at a great price, our standard edition is the perfect choice for you.
The Limited Edition is designed with the collector in mind. The tuck of this version is printed on premium card stock, includes foil printing, embossing and 2.5D embossing depending on the design. This Edition and up will contain custom seals if the design calls for it. We use only the highest quality materials to create our Limited Editions tucks.
Gilded Editions are a favorite of collectors and anyone who likes shiny things. The tuck of this version is the same as the Limited Edition but is printed on metallic card stock when available. This deck is usually very limited most of the time we only gild 50-100 of the Limited Edition decks.
We always set aside a certain number of decks to use for future promotions, we call these our House Edition or Private Reserves. Doing this allows us to experiment with new products and colorways, without affecting our current product line. For example, the Maverick Edition of S.W. Erdnase was never sold, but we use it to promote our 1902 Collection. By including a variety of different elements in these decks, we can create unique and eye-catching designs that will grab attention and generate interest in our products.
Promotions
While we see many creators using promotional companies such as jellop, we prefer more of a grass roots type of advertising. Rather than spending thousands of dollars to advertise this campaign we chose to offer free shipping and 350 half bricks of playing cards. This makes more sense for our company because it creates awareness for our brand while giving back to the community. However, we understand that this doesn't always work for everyone. When we offered Free Shipping tiers we got complaints. We offered 350 free half bricks and it upset some backers. As you can imagine making 400+ backers happy is quite a task but we're always trying to find the best way to advertise our campaigns, and we appreciate your feedback.
We've had a lot of requests to make our House Editions available during the campaign, and we're happy to oblige. Many f our backers know that these editions will be available at some point during a promotion, whether it's on a future campaign as part of an Early Bird package or on our site. However, we understand that some people prefer to buy them now so they can resell them later. We're okay with that, but we want to let everyone know that they don't have to add-on the House Edition now if they don't want to. It will be available as a promotion at some point in the distant future.

It’s certainly larger than anything else I can think of. Almost makes completing the set require a second job and a dedicated drawer or shelf

So I'm filling out the backerkit and I noticed there is a Ghost holo gilded deck. Does anyone know anything about this? Like what the tuck looks like?
EDIT: I see that the holo gilded deck is just the Ghost House deck gilded. But I'm not sure if I know what the house deck looks like and if the gilded version(s) will have a different tuck.

There are SO MANY variations its hard for me to choose
Think I am going nuts with the SOO MANY variations: Minis, House, Gilded, bla bleh bleh. This might just be reason why the market is so full of decks XD

And this creator has seemingly dropped the ball and disappeared, at least on this forum and on social media and their website as well. Their previous projects also don't paint a good picture with people still awaiting rewards. Not sure i'm confident in this or the Erdnase project anymore. Anyone have any info on what the creator is doing?

I dont know man… I also feeling Doc is just losing his touch
The latest update for this/Ludus Magnus/Erdnase is on 30 April - just simply post a chart without any words.
After that, nothing. I am losing my trust to Doc. I already warned him of the dangers of running a new campaign when the previous one is not completely fulfilled

Brad Gabbard (Native Tongue) was the artist for the Ludus Magnus deck that was supposed to be produced by Michael McClure (Doc's Playing Cards). They are two separate entities, however.

Docs is producer
Native Tongue is designer
Two different roles.
The designer completes the job, so anything happened on production and fulfillment, that’s on Docs. While collaborator can help in some way, unfortunately can’t help so much
It has been almost 2 years, probably more… and there are no longer any news, so….
I conclude, another campaign that I lost money in. Not one, not two, but three…

The Oceans Curse campaign backers have yet to receive anything. Its time to pay more attention to creators who start multiple projects before delivering previous ones.
