I'm disappointed.. I didn't want to believe that the Virts would have released such a deck after seeing the backs (and the over the top hype), and my last hope was that the faces would save it. Welp, there goes that. If someone could post more pictures of the faces, it would be appreciated.

Well they called this as a P1, then it’s something new. Dont take this as: i fanboying Virts. Sure, I do love those five decks they released before - just bit surprised on the direction of changing the entire pips and courts - and seeing the positive sides
And I think that there will be four colors for this deck, each on every suit.

I always thought the purpose of a preorder was to like pay for the privilege of receiving the very first distribution of a product and to support a brand/company you like regardless of the exact product you get. Like when you preorder an album from a band you like even though you've never heard it. Not to knock your way at all but it seems odd to expect a refund for a product that was ordered sight unseen.

The purpose of a pre-order is a) that the creator roughly knows the demand and can act accordingly and b) similar to crowdfunding that the creator has money earlier than they would have with a regular sale.
Pre-order doesn't mean you buy unseen, that's just something that gets added to create hype, buzz, exitement. Let your product create hype, buzz and excitement otherwise, weak peformance, even from great creators, imo.
This whole We're not going to show you beforehand mystery shite marketing is just obnoxious (at least to me).
I don't know about other countries but in Europe you have the right to get a full refund without reasoning, within the first two weeks after(!) delivery (even when you've seen pictures of the product before) on every online transaction (private transactions like on eBay are not covered). Only sales in stores are final.
Not to knock your ways but for me it is more odd to take every shite from a brand just because their previous products were okay. Just show me the product beforehand and both sides have less hassle .

You're right I overshot the mark for sure. While I think a preorder can be beneficial for the purposes of gauging demand we could probably agree that the primary purpose is that money goes to the producer early and the consumer gets their product as early as possible and sometimes exclusively if the pre-sale sells out, a win for both parties. And we agree that it's preferable to see what we're buying before we pay and buzz is best when it's about a legitimately, transparently good product. I think where we disagree is maybe where the responsibility for purchasing is. In this case people have willingly preordered knowing full well that they could not see any faces for the cards. I would've preferred to see the whole deck ahead of time too but I made the call that I was okay with the possibility of disappointment for the opportunity to get a deck I really like for what is probably the best price it will sell at. I think it's important to have the right to return things from online shops because sometimes they're just not the same in-hand. I'm not saying people should not be able to or want to cancel preorders but more asking why people would pay for a deck sight unseen without thinking that they might not like it once they do see it. Companies keep relying on hype and mystery as a crutch because people keep paying for it. By all means cancel return and collect refunds for a product you don't like, but also why pay for a product that you don't like in the first place.

No worries at all, you're not overshooting. You have your valid point of view and I have mine, that's it.

To clarify I only did the pre-order because I'm aware of my right to return (if the virts act up - which I by any means don't expect at all - my cc company will have my back) and because I liked the previous Virtuoso decks - you know, the ones with courts *grabs his beloved SS15s* .
I would definitely have refrained from pre-ordering if the sale would be final.

Just curious how you guys cancelled your order? Did you go through your CC company or ask the Virts directly?

Found the order email and replied to it. They refunded right away. I did just have the free deck and paid for shipping so they were probably happy to do it. Or you can email support@thevirts.zendesk.com. The person replying said PayPal normally wouldn't allow it so she did a manual refund for the amount.

Of course I went directly to thevirts, too. No need to involve third parties when there is no problem at all. I simply replied to the latest update email. Like bdawg no struggle at all. Their customer service is A+.

Same day response and refund from Joyce (which seems to be their CR/PR person) in my case.

I forget if I pre-ordered these or not. And if I did, I forget if they were free and I just paid for shipping. But regardless if I paid for this deck or not, I will certainly never pre-order a Virt deck, sight unseen, ever again. There is no rule that says a cardistry deck has to have court cards made up of only ugly, geometric shapes. These are so disgustingly lazy they make me want to vomit.

The videos are pretty cool, but it’s just a repetition of the same moves… nothing to this day has impressed me as much as this guy and his versatility…I wish he was still around doing Cardistry videos
