I think you are focusing on the cancellation only....

I had 93 cancelled pledges and I am not complaining about them. That's how kickstarter works and backers cancel all the time for various reasons that I am not going to investigate. Not a problem.

So, what is the point?
The point is being aware of sitting on a special and limited place from day one, and making sure that nobody get that spot by cancelling 3 minutes before the end of a 30 days campaign.
I am talking as backer, NOT as project creator.

As project creator it is not a problem since I save KS and credit cards fees when I sell it later.
Anyway, thank you for backing even if you cancelled :)

Sorry but assuming this backer held on to the spot maliciously so no one else gets a chance is not appropriate. You did very well on this campaign, perhaps shining on your top backers instead like those on the Attic (spending over $450) would be more appropriate.

I understand Lorenzo’s point. Especially if you put into real terms. Imagine going to a physical store to buy a limited item only to discover another customer had grabbed it and was walking around the whole store with it only to decide a second before closing time that he wasn’t going to buy thereby making it impossible for you to have it too. That would be a ridiculous action in reality. So why is it ok online? I understand things happen. But likely the person who pledge was irresponsible a knew way before hand that they were unlikely to keep the pledge. It’s highly unlikely he found out seconds before the cut off that he needed the funds for something more essential.more likely is that he simply forgot and only remembered to cancel when he saw an email or post about the campaign. I would be upset and sad had my lost a chance to own the tier.

Just to weigh in on this whole debacle.

I will openly admit that on numerous occasions I have pledged for a limited tier and held onto it throughout a campaign in the hopes that the funds will miraculously appear in my account.
Unfortunately they usually don't and therefore I end up cancelling the pledge a day or 2 before the campaign ends. I always try to give other backers at least a day to pick it up so in this case I agree that leaving it until seconds before the campaign ends was a little heartless as I'm sure the backer knew he wasn't going to be able to afford it.

On the other hand though I also agree with the opinion that all backers have the same opportunity as one another to pledge for limited tiers and it is their responsibility to be aware of campaign launch times if they intend to do so.

Yes, I would be annoyed if I missed out on a ltd tier that I wanted but I also feel that that is the nature of the KS game and I wouldn't hold a grudge against other backers for missing out. It is then up to me to continuously check KS for dropped pledges or try to buy/trade on the after market. After all isn't that half the fun of collecting in the first place.

Anyway that was more of a rant than I expected it to be

Lorenzo first stated his thanks to all the backers and how thrilled he was with the campaign’s total funding. He also thanked the last backer. I take the shame about the person that backed out of the Gatekeeper tier at the last moment as a gentle ribbing tempered by his overwhelming happiness with the campaign.

When the rewards ship, I will be getting a really nice package in the mail. No regrets with my pledge.

The package tiers offered great value.

100% Agree! I don't think Lorenzo meant his comments to be malicious. I think is was just meant it as a joke. Besides, he already has the backerkit page up for anyone who missed the campaign and has the remaining Gatekeepers on there as a limited purchase item in the Cellar bundle. I'm sure he has very little concern that they won't sell out.

Speaking of... Lorenzo, I have a question. If I pledged for a tier during the campaign that included the Gatekeeper bundle, could I still be able to purchase the Cellar bundle on the baker kit?

Jeez. It is only a problem for someone who wanted one but couldn't get it, and only because it was kept until it was not possible to be purchased by another backer.

Heck, Lorenzo is better selling it without the fees. If you don't want it, we have often facilitated someone picking it up by announcing the impending handoff here.

Realities of finances are always a problem. If you keep it until the last minute, it just could be handled better.

Like others, I understand the need to drop a pledge near the end of a campaign, for financial reasons or otherwise. I've never done it with a super-limited tier, but if I personally wanted a Gatekeeper, I would not be happy to learn about this. I think that Lorenzo's criticism is valid and I don't find it malicious or anything.

This is probably my most anticipated deck ever.

Lorenzo has posted an update with a new look at the uncut sheet for the Cartomancer deck. The foil color looks a really washed out yellow, and not gold. I hope that is not the true color it will look.

Here is the picture in question:

the yellow will be cold-foiled gold as shown in the other renderings. That is the file for cartamundi just telling them where the gold foil will be. Actually they want it color-coded in magenta. I used yellow to give you an idea of the layout :)
NO WORRIES! :D

Great. Now I want somebody to make a deck with magenta foil.

I disagree with the assertion of above post regarding a pirate deck on account of its lack of multiple Rs

Best playing card collaboration project ever?
When Lorenzo stated that for his latest designed decks and campaign he had teamed up with USPCC to do the Faro Edition, Cartamundi for the foiled Cartomancer edition, Oath Playing Cards to do the tuck boxes and Gamblers Warehouse to do fulfillment, I figured this was an all-star team. We will see how it all works out when they get delivered. I agree though this is an excellent collaboration project. Those tuck boxes are just

I am also really impressed at how David Goldklang is managing his Planets Series. I mean that is a monster undertaking involving 8 campaigns and after a few early setbacks has gotten the series running on-time. If we had an award for best series, there would be no competition for him in that category. Again, we will have to wait and see once the final rewards get sent out, but I fully expect my whole sets delivered before the end of this year. When he first dreamed up that goal, I thought he was nuts.

It is fun but at the same time very challenging to work on Lorenzo's tuck boxes. I'm very pleased with the outcome and the collaboration with Lorenzo is no less than perfect.

The original campaign came at a time when my card budget was non-existant. I knew this was a deck that I would really regret missing out on, plus it was outside the price range I try to limit myself to. Now things are better so thanks to the pre-order, I'm able to get one deck. It's only a Faro variant but that's good enough for me. Pre-orders have allowed me to get in late on a couple of projects so perhaps they are a good idea? Not that I care but do you think the increase in numbers will lower the value?

Hello!

I know you already saw them, but I wanted to update the post with the pictures that Lotrek sent me.
I am waiting for a package with some proofs, but you know how the postal service can be so slow sometimes.

For those who missed the campaign, there is the chance to pre-order the decks at kickstarter prices via backerkit: https://stockholm17-hrs.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders
I allow the purchase of small quantities because I already did the order. Split bricks and other items will be available after the fulfilmment ONLY IF I have some leftover.
Mind that the project is late... Cartamundi is taking longer than they told me. Consider that I initiated the order as soon as I received the funds from KS (mid May).

Here some pics! I am very pleased with the outcome:

NOTE: I stated that the folding line on the front will be removed, but at the end it will be there. Lotrek told the guy responsible for the die-cut implant to remove it, but the guy forgot. Not a huge issue, I keep it.

Stay tuned! Thank you for backing and followin up!
cheers

Nice! I’ll be snagging at least another pair of decks. I’m guessing it’s too late to get one of those nice engraved carat cases, huh?

at the moment I am in lock-down, meaning that I need to wait for the end of the fullfilment. After that I do the count fo the leftover and I can definitely sell them at ks price to UC memebers :)

Oscar53955, you should have picked up those engraved carat cases during the campaign, or at least during backerkit. For something like $28-26 USD, for a custom-engraved 6-deck carat case is a no-brainer. I added 2 extras to my order to display one of my mixed brick decks. TwoPiece gave me the idea, and I think it was brilliant as you can see the tucks inside.
