I just increased my pledge, figuring that if you had split this into two campaigns I would get two decks of each, as I did with both the Elves and Secret of the Sea. Hopefully Kingstar will give you a boost.

Why is/was the campaign so short? It took Deck of the Yr artist Rick Davidson nearly 4 weeks to get his recent KS funded

Most card campaigns either make or fail in the first 48 hours. Past that theres rarely a point in having the campaign up. this one included basically it made everything in the first 2 days and almost nothing until today

Image

Rick Davidsons did have exceptionally long legs but thats a rarity usually you only see mid campaign increases of any note if a new something is added and the original people put in more money.

Image

compared to a "good" size campaign say TWI Celestials which was also short

Image

or KWPs last Robin hood

I am not a complete newb Evil. 70% in the first two days is desirable and then with a 30 day campaign they can usually get over the line.
That has been the case for a couple I backed this year

a couple...yes every rule has an exception...but most campaigns if they don't fund immediately probably wont.

Look Im backing this campaign I want it to succeed, but the window seems to be closing.

Thanks for the feedback! Let me reply

@mardem1976 The delivery date was set as a precaution, and to avoid disappointing backers. Ideally, and if everything worked out perfectly, the decks would have certainly be produced and delivered during early to mid 2026. But with the secret of the sea there were a lot of delays, outside of our control. Just one example, the closing of cartamundi brought all the creators to produce with the same company and they made us wait many months after payment, just to do some test prints. They also asked a myriad of changes to our design, and that took a while, also because of the language barrier. That's why we wanted to be sure and play it safe. So perhaps we should have set a different expected delivery date, and if anything went wrong, explain it through updates. Next time will do that.

And regarding shipping: we set it exactly at how much they charge us to deliver the decks, locally in the US and worldwide. Shipping is a thorn in every creator's side, as it cannot be escaped and even to deliver one deck in the USA it now costs more than when we started, it raised from 5 to 7 dollars now and there is also a chance that by the time the decks actually ship, there could be a raise in that and we would assume that cost and risk. We set it precisely and with no margins. Having said that, we will try to lower more the total cost per deck, even if with the all in reward, people had a real bargain on the whole project.

@evilgamer I am very happy to read you liked the project and backed it! But let me explain, if we relaunch one of the decks, it'll be still with exclusive gilded editions, that is for sure. In any case, I will meet with Gio of Thirdway Industries soon, and will discuss with him possible strategies. I'll give it one more day and see what happens.

Thanks for your feedback, it helps!

When they were laying out their contingency plans during the first campaign I said something about the foiling and they said that it would stay.

Im not sure reducing the campaign and goal in half will work...but we'll see.

Thanks for updating the thread and for the support shown, it's promising! Yes the deck will have foil on both sides of the cards and then, hot foil on the beautiful tuck boxes made by Boschiero.

I met with Giovanni of Thirdway Industries yesterday and he gave me a lot of tips and advised me on everything that needed some retouching for the campaign to have a chance of success. He liked the deck and hopefully there will be enough people to fund it this time :)

Please show the deck to anyone you may think can be interested, any share on socials may also help to suceed. We are a very small company and from this campaign depends our future. We have a lot of ideas for more projects.

We want to show you some of the improvements of the campaign: after receiving the prototypes, we realised we could make some changes.

We modified the standard deck of witches to have white borders for better playability and to avoid chipping.
For those who prefer the full printed backside, the gilded edition still features it, and since the cards are gilded, there will be no chipping.

Then, we revised the colours of the standard deck to reflect the Sybilla mini version, and we know that these colours will be beautiful once pressed with hot foil on a standard-sized deck. Aradia (the gilded version) will still feature a dark tuck to make it stand out and more special. As people bought many copies of the mini in the original campaign, and more than one person commented that the colour combination was lovely, we listened.

We got the approval from Chris, the photographer, to alter his marvellous photos, and we present the revised idea, as pictures are often much better than words. Please notice that these are just renders in Photoshop, and so you cannot see the shining reflections for the revised colored tuck, but both tucks will be hot foiled and shining, produced by Boschiero & Newton.

The cards will also feature foil; the prototypes in the photos are made with printed inks. The original Witches tuck box, purple on purple, will be avaialble for whoever purchases the prototype of Witches, as it was in the original campaign. Only a handful will be printed, most likely 10 to 15 copies, as we don't have many of these tuck boxes left.

@honeybee, yes it should. Don't mind the photo as we don't have the final printed decks, and so it still shows a white line in the picture, but when the deck is gilded, it's the same as if it were all black edges on the side. Also, we are using german black core paper, so that should make a difference and avoid such troubles.

Please follow the new launch page here, if you are interested and thanks!

Starting with Witches (photos taken in bright sun in the middle of the day, real colors are a bit darker than this), also, these are not professional photos, just something we took with our reflex as the prototypes arrived yesterday! Another post will follow with the cards of Magick.

We hope you'll like them and let us know your thoughts!!

In a couple of hours we will post the Magick deck too, that has a very different artwork.
Also that deck will be standard as opposed to this one that is an all female deck :ucstar:
I'm not sure if the choice was intentional, but I just wanted to give you a heads up that I believe the position of the indices on the courts do not match the position on the Aces and Numbers.
The J Q and K are further away from the edges, so if you were to flip through the cards or hold them in a poker hand for example it would be harder to see what the court cards are.

In either case, I love the work, looks fantastic.

Hey - looks awesome. In for a standard or Aradia (that tuck!) and Sibylla. Question, both the standard and Aradia mention gold foil on both sides, so are the faces exactly the same? There aren't any pics which show examples from each deck so I'm not sure.

Probably due to the ornamentation around the indices on the courts. Makes sense to allow for some cut tolerances.

Thanks for the amazing feedback!

1) The position of the indices is moved down a tiny little (you have amazing eyes to notice that!) to allow the cut, but once you have the deck in your hand, it is barely noticeable and very playable. It would be very hard for the manufacturer to do the foil ornament of the frame closer to the border if we perfectly aligned the court's letter. Numbers and Aces have the same position for the indices.

Have a look:
Image

2) Front is the same for Standard and Aradia (the backside differs), and the playing cards have foil on both sides, there will be gold details on the back and also on aces, numbers and courts. The only cards that won't have gold foil are the mini decks.

@mardem1976 I noticed you are just interested in Aradia and the Sybilla mini. Is there something that you preferred in the old version of the Standard cards? Just curious to know. Standard will also have a fully foiled tuck box; we just don't have a prototype to show right now in the photos.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. We are hopeful for the relaunch

Thanks for the clarification. Regarding the standard deck, it’s beautiful - I just need to pick one or the other. I only have so much space 😉

My pleasure. Just trying to make sure you are aware of potential complaints as early as possible.

Not to harp on the same point too much, and I do understand if you have that foiling limitation so there may not be much you can do, but I did a quick edit to show what I was talking about, this is what it will look like if you have the court cards in a less charitable position in a hand. I think it highlights the issue I noticed, because the index is slightly out of sync on both axes. While not easily noticeable on its own, will be more so when aligned with others.

Image

Ok, I'll stop now! Looking forward to the re-launch of the KS. Any idea roughly when you're aiming for that so I can be on the lookout?

Hi shaitaini, I see what you mean, but once you have the cards in hand, it's really not that noticeable. You can easily read the cards withouth moving them much, we played with them and did not have any issues with this :)

As for the launch, we are now promoting the deck on socials and aim at a launch before the end of the month (perhaps the 23rd or so), so that it can be in the witchstarter group . We will keep it running for two weeks this time, to allow more people to see it.

Thanks Laitostarr777, highly appreciated!!

I just want to give an update to all the followers, we have studied a different edition, that glows in the dark, as it will have a special foil applied to do so. We hope it gets funded and that we can enable the purchase of it, before the end of the campaign.

The images in the campaign are just rendered, as we have not produced it yet, but it would really look incredible, if funded.

Hello everyone, here is an update to the thread as we have not posted for a while:

1) The playing cards are finally in the production phase, as it took a while to adjust the files for Kingstar's requirements. They will produce them in early March, as the company is closed for the entire month to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

2) The tuck boxes are being manufactured by B&N and should be ready very soon. There was a queue for this to happen, as Paul works on a project at a time, so there is always a waiting time, but then the results are so amazing that it makes it very worth it.

3) We have revised the coin design a bit as I was not 100% percent satisfied with it. Here is the new design:

Image

4) We are also producing a cloth and a soft pouch for the divination game, which is going to look really great. Here's the cloth:
Image
The original image is gigantic, so here it looks pixelated because it was reduced, just for preview purposes.

We will be selling the divination game as an add-on. We have just sent it to production and will calculate the final price for it soon. The PDF with the rules will be sent for free to all customers who bought at least 2 decks.

If anyone wants to pledge late, it is still possible, but not for much longer. Once we receive the produced decks, we will close the option. You can still do that here:

Here some more updates

1) The mini deck has been printed, please notice the mini doesn't have foil, the standard sized poker playing cards will.

2) Circle of fate has been printed as well, both the booklet with all the cards illustrated, the rules of the game and some divination examples, the soft cloth and the velvet pouch.

We are still patiently waiting for Boschiero to prepare the tuck boxes and for Kingstar to print the main deck, but hopefully very soon. Coin is also a bit delayed for reason outside my control but working on that front too with the factory.

I am very excited about the news and wanted to share these with you all.
