I just had a friend who moved there a couple years ago and after visiting him a few times, I can tell you this is a great city!

I was at the last convention in Charlotte, but I couldn't tell you whether Charlotte is a great city or not as I never left the convention . Maybe I will try and venture out this time. Look forward to seeing you again, Chris!

I was also at the last one in Charlotte. That is the only one I have been to as I coach HS girls soccer and it is always at the end of our season. This is my last year coaching so I will start going every year.

Take this with a grain of salt as last year was my first time. The first day of the convention (Wednesday) was the welcome dinner for first-timers like myself. Thursday and Friday, the trading floor was opened to set up tables throughout each day with a variety of scheduled speakers, along with the club deck reveal. Saturday had a shortened time period for the trading floor, which was shut down and converted for the awards banquet that evening.

It definitely could be different this time around, but I thought the schedule was excellent last year and left a lot of time to explore the area and just mingle.

Yep, Jamie is correct. The schedule leaves a lot of time to mingle and look at everyone’s table. My favorite part is the after hours hanging out. The Charlotte hotel has a really nice bar, and an area right outside of the bar, for a good number of people to hangout. The night crowd usually hangs out pretty late at night.

I’m looking forward to finally attending since pre-Covid! My wife and I will fly in Thursday night. We should get to the hotel around 10pm. Vasta and Jamie, first round is on me Thursday night!

Yes kev, I got that email too and it seems likely that you will not get this deck unless you are a 52+ member or a TWI patreon

In his email today Gio talks about how only patrons will get the deck from him but doubts he will have enough HOWEVER he says

The first wave has not a real limit (I technically can't, or 1 per Patron, or no limit), but I would kindly ask to get max 3 decks per Patron in the first wave.

Why can't he set a limit?

My website has the option of limit 1 deck per customer, or no limits at all. I don't want limit the first wave as 1 deck per Patron, so I "kindly asked" to order max 3 per Patron.
Not ideal, I know, but with just 96 decks probably there is no "right" solution, unfortunately.

Others like Jody Eklund have signed the decks that were reserved for the artist, if you want to offer that to people.

I know someone like me wants to support the club itself so I tend to buy directly from their website.

It's upsetting how little of the convention is streamed or recorded. Years of amazing talks lost to time.

Yeah, being able to stream some of these talks, or at least watch them back later would be a really useful addition to membership for those who aren't willing to travel for a convention. The convention is neat, but unless it were local, I'm never going to go. No dig, but my vacation time is reserved for more epic and interesting trips.

Just a heads up for anyone planning on flying to one of these in the future: plan to arrive at the airport a little early because, for whatever reason, TSA does not like playing cards. I was stopped twice and had to wait a while as they scanned each deck for explosive debris or whatever.

Yep, the Charlotte TSA opened up my bag as well. Oddly, they did not have a problem when we went through the Indianapolis TSA on the way into the show.

It was great to meet, hangout, befriend and drink with Paul!!

It was my first 52 Joker attendance since 2019 (and sixth overall), so it felt like a reunion that’s been due for a while.
