Are there any freebies for waiting too long?
How long was the actual wait?
It funded in late November 2023

left to right are the two standard editions (honest these arguably could be the best of the bunch)
then the "deluxe" and then the prismatic
Thanks for the comparison. I have the deluxe deck on its way to me; I thought the art looked better on a black background. Based on the finished product, though, I wish I had bought the Twilight Violet deck.

During the Kickstarter campaign, the prismatic version of this deck was advertised as strictly limited to 525 decks. However, the seal sticker now shows a number of 600. Does anyone know where the extra 75 decks went? Will they be released later on the TGW official website?

I mostly stoped watching their stuff when they decided they want to be a furniture company but pretty sure they never said. Most likely wjpc wanted runs of 100 (though pretty sure the claw from wjpc is 1471 or something weird)

Not really, they got their start doing dice vaults and deck boxes and other small gaming accessories in wood. If you look at their kickstarter history you can see much of that

Screenshot 2025-03-30 at 1.22.26 PM.png
They did always do furniture on the side usually as a custom project, but their best furniture (the $15k Prophecy tables and the like)was built by a company in PA called Keystone. In or around 2020 they decided to design a table, the "modular gaming table" which they put up on Kickstarter and sold like...$8M worth of, which was going to be built by keystone...well..they ended up buying Keystone, canceling all that companies existing line of business, and shifting most of the production of the old and new facilities towards fulfilling that kickstarter backlog. And their kickstarters mostly shipped towards selling furniture because thats what they are set up to do take in vast amounts of wood and turn it into slabs of wood for tables and desks.
And thats all their videos talk about now for the most part too

Screenshot 2025-03-30 at 1.24.42 PM.png
This has led to some literal financial bleeding since they aren't getting $8m a year of table orders any more, so half the company was let go right before thanksgiving last year. But they keep trying to drum up that business to the exclusion of everything else.

Doug, the CEO said at the time of the $8m KS that it was either going to make the company or drive it out of business, and its looked like its the later for quite awhile.

I got my decks on Friday. The artwork is one of the most beautifully illustrated decks I own. That being said, them shipping it in a padded envelope lead to basically every deck being dinged. They were loose in a padded envelope for UPS to throw around.

The only other thing I can say is the tuck in certain colours is really hard to make out the details. This could be a result of the embossing not being so clear. I would also say the colour or maybe the foil on the cards makes it hard to see the details. It likely could have been tweaked slightly. That being said, these are minor comments and it is beautiful. I am really happy to finally have these.

So they did not change the shipping envelope despite having lots of complaints about Groundskeeper, this just proves that they don't care about the feedbacks. This is a one and done (or two) attempt at playing cards business and they will never look back again. They won't replace the damages either.

I remember something about shipping prices being determined after the campaign which kept me away. Wasn't that a huge issue in the end for backers? Now the damage complaints, seems like I dodged a bullet.

Lovely. I emailed them so I can’t wait to hear that my $180 in decks and $35 in shipping is leading to no replacements.

How they can take 35$ for shipping and then send it the cheapest way possible is boggling. How many decks did you order?

Yeah, ended up paying a LOT of money for shipping (and taxes), which is as same as I bought the trio set Groundskeeper

Some international shipping can be pricey on ks. For non ks, some large companies can give that cheap type of shipping for free or half of 35$ for more than just 5 decks. Why is ks shipping so expensive sometimes? Padded price.

They don't even charge shipping fees on KS, it all goes to their pockets.

They don't charge them because they determine and bill them later based on actual rates not what KS determines plus KS fees. I have a lot of criticism of WW, but I dont think "pocketing shipping costs" is a fair one.

I would agree with Evilgamer. Given what was happening at the time and the shipping costs changing, they just opted to waiting until later to collect the fees. Sure it helped them pocket more money since they didn't need to give KS a cut but it's a far cry from what the campaign raised.

If every international order overpaid approx 20$ on shipping then I'd say they made out well.

Haven't opened the decks yet, but I received my pledge today. They came loose in a padded envelope, but somehow my decks were undamaged.

My 7 decks came loose in a box with an insufficient amount of padding. The decks took damage.

You probably never felt overcharged shipping fees by WW if that's the case. Never the less I only said it in response to the comment that they charged high fees and shipped in the cheapest way possible, without actually thinking. There's been a lot of ways I received my packages in the past, and though WW's packaging is the worst, it was the best courier so far — all that for the 2nd highest shipping fee I ever paid for playing cards.

All that being said, I will never back a project again without paying shipping upfront. The several dynamic range of ways of shipping to my country makes it a big surprise, which is sub-optimal.

Not to WW, but every ARK campaign I feel it.

This deck concludes my currently planned/already paid for business with WW, but thats highly dependent on what they do in the future.

Dings on each one of my decks which I attribute to packaging. Seals are cheaper than even Riffle Shuffle's.

Aside from all the issues listed (my tucks were also dinged, and one even had a black scuff mark along the side), I think the art looks great. Credit to Xia Hunt for making some truly dope art. I hope more designers work with her in the future!
