Re: Rick Davidson - Wishers
Hi all, just dropping in to say a quick thank you for the thread and the support. I love the passion in this forum
I don't like to lurk but always have time for the UC crew.
Just a personal overview of what Wishers are about. I've created a range of custom decks over the years, but have never committed to creating the best 'traditional' deck I could. Over time you hear comments on things people dislike - the pips too small, the face cards are ugly etc. So in starting my new brand Sequel, I wanted to lay down a well balanced standard for play, magic, cardistry - with some subtle influence from my past decks. If owning the collectible first batch, and helping launch the new brand appeals, of course I would love the support. But for a more creative custom deck, my next project might just fit the bill, hope to launch that early in the new year. But I'm 100% focused on getting this baby across the line first.
Thanks again all. It's been a crazy year, I hope you're all doing great

Great to have you here, Rick, as always!
Are you open to making new tiers? What I feel is missing is a split half-brick, for us folks that want more than a pair but are too cheap for bricks and the Limited Edition

'The Collector' comes close Tom - 5 decks but you will also see from Rick's answer to my KS comment, that he is open to creating a new tier

I see what you did there.
No problem at all. It's always tricky creating a set of options without overdoing it. I'll update tonight, thanks for the suggestion.MagikFingerz wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 9:29 am Great to have you here, Rick, as always!

Just backed for a Mixed Six.
On an unrelated note, the phrase "Your mouth is writing checks your ass can't cash" just popped into my head for some reason...

Re: Rick Davidson - Wishers
I tell you what, I do like how the queens came out in this one. They're the highlight of the offering here.
The Ace of Spades and Joker, not quite there... I think if that Oversized Pip was done differently, it would go well. Jokers feel a bit flat.
I do like how things just seem more... crisp there. As a gameplayer, these go quite well.
Considering the standard court choice, and yes, I do like the redrawn courts as noted. Also considering it's more for gameplayers, it goes pretty well!

Thank you Pro. I am right in the middle of enhancing the joker, let's see where it ends up.
Just advance notice for the UC crew before I post shortly, I'm offering the very last, rare decks I have of Origins Shadows and De Novo. If they are on your list, the numbers are small. Thanks team.

15 days more to go with just under $2000 to hit.
Does the creator get to see the number of people who've saved the project? Curious to know the conversion rate for those who save till the final 2 days.

Re: Rick Davidson - Wishers
You must have a different currency converter to me Eric. Nearly $2,000 to hit by mine ($1,872us)
Rick probably needs to create a little more excitement. I am thinking - something to have some of the current 99 backers upgrade (another $40 from half of them would do it)

Re: Rick Davidson - Wishers
It still has to get there.
Rick has has made spending $100nz (=$60us) quite appealing for he is throwing in an additional pro deck ($13us when purchased singularly)
eg If you buy the Mixed Six (Tier 6.5) you will get 7 decks for $63us. Only $9 a deck

Re: Rick Davidson - Wishers
I wasn't a big fan of the standard court cards, but the more I looked at them, the more I liked this deck.
I have LUXX PALME, GREILL, and COBRA V2. I like the slightly narrower index of the COBRA because it looks nicer when fanned or spread.
I have a hard time buying a deck with a classy standard court design because of the price comparison with bicycle deck. I know it's not fair, but I can't help but compare them to the “Bicycle on Sale”.
I wanted the project to succeed, so I changed my pledge to Dual Bricks PLUS (the free international shipping was a big plus), and it seems that the number of supporters is increasing, partly because Giovanni recommended it on Chaos Playing Cards project? I may lower the pledge level if we get enough.
As rousselle said, I like Rick's interpretation of the standard face. I prefer it a little different from the standard, but I'll look forward to that next time. looking forward to receiving Origins Rouen 1567. (I think I'm actually more looking forward to this one.)

Re: Rick Davidson - Wishers
It ended 110% funded.
A couple of days from the end there was a brilliant pledge at the top tier - what with the bonus deck for every $100nz spent, I figure he/she will receive 61 decks AND Rick is shipping them for free.
(If they are not from the USA, I would imagine that shipping would be massive). Along with 61 decks, that is unbelievable value for around $482us

Re: Rick Davidson - Wishers
Occasionally I visit the Reddit playing cards forum but why are they so officious with rules such as 'how many times a designer can post'. It would also seem that mods could amalgamate threads so that some of the officious posters don't get their knickers in a knot about duplications
There was the 'odd' poster over there claiming they were not supporting Wishers because RD was over promoting the deck on their site - too ridiculous for words

Hey, I just noticed that the 3 Australian backers for this KS, are from Melbourne (I'm not really but I am there a lot).
I am wondering if my fellow Aussie backers are UC members - thinking that we should be networking with the possibility of cutting shipping costs on common purchases
So if you are - PM me

Re: Rick Davidson - Wishers
Hi team,
Just a quick thank you to the United Cardists squad, and those that backed the Wiahers campaign. Producing a 'standard' deck in this market is a hard sell but I'm really glad to have ticked this box. My 'better Bicycle' for card play and magic. Quick promo for the Founders Reserve below, a small very expensive run. Loved this project, on to something a little different. Thanks again all.
