New Deck: Bag of Bones for future KS launch

Unread post by Artiphany »

Hello:
Some of my card collecting friends have suggested I post some images from a new deck I'm designing and to invite this community to offer advice as develop my project. I'm intending to launch this deck on KS once I've worked through all the images. I'd appreciate hearing from you about what you like, what you don't like and how I can make it ready for the impending launch. I've designed several decks already, one of which went viral in 2017. I want this one to be special with all the features included which card collectors look for when adding a new deck to their collection. I thank the community in advance for their help and look forward to a friendly and productive conversation. Please see the attached drawing and sketches. thanks, John

Speaking for myself (and hopefully many others), I am so excited for this launch. The artwork gives us a full experience. Not only are the court sketches incredible, I love the semi-transformational number cards. They add so much to the story and I know this will be well-received!

Thanks for the welcoming words. a lot of heavy lifting to do before the launch but I've already been given some great guidance from some of my friends on Instagram and here as well about new features to add to the deck and whom to work with.

The tuck boxes for this deck will be a step up from my other designs: Foil stamping and embossing and best of all, gilt edges on the deck. Silver for this one I think.

I have the original Bag of Bones deck, along with others that were offered on your site a few years back. Will these be a V2 or just a reprint with a new tuck?

The faces look the same, but can't quite recall the courts.

Hi Eric: All the court cards will be brand new with new characters. Renderings will be in full colors unlike the old deck which only 3 colors were used, red, black and White. Diamonds, Clubs and Spades, A-10, will be the same but the Hearts A-10 with the little serpent will be re-drawn.

Excellent! The current courts are suitably horrifying and worthy of a V2. I'm in.

On another note, as an int'l backer, do consider making it possible to addon your other decks on the Artiphany store on KS. Those are great decks and deserve a wider audience!

How did I gloss over this thread without realizing how awesome these cards look? Going to have to get me a pack of dogs and some of the cat decks for my coworkers.

Hi Kevork:: Thanks for all the nice comments and encouraging words. This new deck, Bag of Bones, will be a big step up for me in terms of production values. The silver ( or gold ) foil stamping is going to give these a shimmering allure that suits the subject. The Pack of Dogs and Kitten Club decks have been my biggest successes so far but this new deck I hope will meet the discerning taste of collectors.

Hi Eric: I'm new to this forum and the posting procedure so I hope I'm connecting with your reply. Yes, I'm putting a lot more work into the illustrations to push the deck to the next level. Partly, for my own pleasure and also to add the features that collectors look for when adding a new deck to their collection. I'll also add the two other decks, Pack of Dogs and Kitten club to the campaign as add-ons.

I might have caused a bit of confusion - I saw artiphany quoting themselves, thought it was an error, and corrected it - reading the previous post I figure it might have been intentional, my apologies if it was

I have several Artiphany decks for myself and they also make great gifts. It was the original Bag of Bones that turned me on to your work and now I have a bunch of decks. All of your work is wonderful. I'll be in for this one as well.

Thank you, Acetofive:Making a gift of one of my decks is the highest compliment of all so I thank you again. I hope this one will be special. The realization of the concept will be more polished and desirable for collectors compared to the first edition. I'm thinking about some the add-ons for the campaign may a special 2 deck box and a puzzle. Something a bit more than a t shirt. I'll be soliciting the opinion of collectors like yourself as the project moves along.

Your humor and wit are most important to me, and I love the style of your drawing. Even though the original BB was limited in color, it hardly mattered as to how much I liked the deck. That said, I'm also loving the added color above.

Thank you, Acetofive: Your comments are encouraging and I'm grateful for them. The older images made within the scope of my abilities at the time but I think these new ones will define the mood of this imaginary world better. Here are some comparisons between the old and new images.
