Harvonsgard wrote: Tue Jun 07, 2022 11:00 am For me it's the pacing, overall style and story. I agree with your take about the end and I would add that a smart person like Alfred should have smelled bomb asap, when seeing the envelope he got from the Riddler but apart from these two things I like what was offered and just prefer it over Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises.

I definitely have to watch the '89 Batman as well.

Did you watch the Lego Batman Movie?
The Batman's pacing doesn't touch Batman Begins, though. It has the opposite problem of The Dark Knight Rises, as that movie has poor edits where it jumps from one time and location jarringly to another, and The Batman is just far too slow and/or drawn-out in areas. Matt Reeves' style fits Batman better, but Nolan's story and writing is much tighter.

If one ignores the importance of Bruce Wayne (and everything he represents) to the Batman mythos, then The Batman may be king. I can't do that, though, so by default it falls flat in important areas of coverage.

I have not seen Lego Batman. Heard good things, but I don't have any kids. It's near-impossible for me to watch anything animated unless it's geared to adults (South Park, Metalocalypse).

Kid-free adult here, the two main Lego movies and the Batman Lego movie are all very much worth watching :D

Seems like we perceive it similar but have different preferences. The style really is what makes it so good to me. I'm a very visual dude.
I kinda disagree with the pacing but that might be me enjoying slow paced movies. There is just something about making slow paced movies without them being boring - that's an art on it's own for me.
Maybe this is why Interstellar is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Does someone know if there is a sequel in the plans to The Batman?

Lego Batman might not be for you then @Capra. It might be even double vomit emoji in your prior post if you would have seen it, haha.
So your top three are all three Nolan Batman movies with potentionally Batman '89 beimg in between?

It was green-lit awhile ago. Sadly, Kravitz will return.

Yeah, my Top 3 Batman movies would all (likely) have to be Nolan's. I must exclude BvS and ZSJL since they're more than just Batman movies. While I haven't seen Batman '89 in probably 18 years, I can't see it being above any of those 3 or The Batman.

I'd say they stand out. They have a very meta sense of humor you don't see often in animation

They want to make at least two sequels and two TV series on HBO Max - DC is undergoing a lot of changes at the moment with David Zaslav in charge of Warner now

I watch quite some animated movies and I would disagree that they stand out from the current animated movie zeitgeist as this meta humour became quite common. I certainly agree that the Lego Movies do it very well.

Kravitz? (Apologies for not being vigilante about movie news, lol)

Thanks for the infos guys.

After coming from Finland to my door just to be returned (postman did not find the door!?) to Finland to be resend to me again, I finally had time to build my Vonreg's TIE Interceptor. Enjoy.

Thanks Gandalf. As a gift I would (it's available worldwide btw. not sure why you ended up on amazon Japan, haha) take it but I wouldn't drop dollars personally on it. As a N64 kid I do like the idea a lot buf the regular MRSP is too much imho and overall I'm not the biggest fan of Lego microscale builds. Minifigure scale is where it's at for me. Still, as mentioned, I like this set being a thing in our realm of reality.

Of course, haha. Lego is my no.1 product based hobby (sorry playing cards). I first hated it because in the first official picture the starting tower looked too humongous but your comment has made me look it up again and I saw it from better angles now. I still have to get their first rollercoaster which, despite retired, is still available for around MRSP (still a lot) at a lot of places.

87C74C77-F310-4285-A73B-B24CE27DB80F.jpeg

Colour scheme of the new one is great and I can't believe you didn't mention (for those unaware) it has two freaggin loopings! 😃

Definitely have to get the new one. I just wonder how well it works. I heard some people having trouble with the old one and the haunted house, which features a free fall lift, doesn't work properly all of the time either. It's plastic bricks with wiggle room after all.

Dunno. That's why I said product hobby though. Should have written collection hobby. I guess there people who's favorite collector's items are cards. Absolute #1 overall hobby? I'd say no.

Electrics are actually a piece of cake, semi hollow just behind them - acoustics are the more interesting of the three to make by far. Hard part is parting with them :)

The guitar above had about $800 worth of wood alone - ukes a good deal cheaper, around $100 to $300 - at the moment other work is keeping me out of the wood shop for the most part, and I have a friend waiting for me to turn a pile of koa into a uke for him already. Should I ever get really rolling I’m sure I’ll produce more instruments than I have a place to put them and perhaps I’ll part with some of those :)

Speaking of moon. I just watched Moonfall. Is it just me or is Roland Emmerich on decline? Seems like he peaked with Independence Day, held the level with 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow and then went downhill.
You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.

Is it as bad as it looked in trailers?

Thank you for saving me two hours of my life after that movie hits the streaming services I subscribe to. I, too, suspected it could be really bad.

You're welcome. I'm glad something good came out of my misery, haha.
Seems like I'm no outlier with that verdict:
